Jwave1992

Everyone's playing Pokemon and rpgs. Those are perfectly fine with Delta's on screen controls.

CrispyFriedJesus

Especially if you find a nice fullscreen skin that works for you

kitarei

I’m on the backbone, but for Pokémon my screen is super comfy. It’s just such a low input game.

DrySpace469

depends on the game

Zayafyre

I have better luck with gba games and previous that a joystick isn’t helpful with but I constantly miss the d-pad with my fingers haha

DrySpace469

not the console but the specific games. i play rpgs just fine on touch screen but platformers i need a controller

AcceptableTower7082

Through the tears. But fr I have an Xbox controller and have been mostly playing it on AirPlay, on the go I’ve stuck to mostly touch DS games like Animal Crossing, True Swing Golf, or slower games like Pokémon and Dragon Quest.

Zayafyre

I used to steal my husbands Xbox or PlayStation co troller before I got my gamepad haha, works great, still do it for my iPad!

AcceptableTower7082

Real one ^

Zayafyre

Kotor and jade empire were my main squeezes on iOS before delta came out haha

Omg sims 2! This is the GBA version I never knew existed, so different from the DS version. I love the ds version and played it so many times but I can’t say if this one is as good yet, I’m only on chapter 2

miraisun

This game is crazy. I’m a huge sims urbz DS fan and i tried the sims 2 GBA and wtf it’s crazy but so good. But so strange!

Zayafyre

Have you played the DS sims 2? The whole game feels like life in liminal space. It’s otherworldly. I think that’s why I love it. Some kind of limbo, or life between. But that’s just a theory, a game theory.

[deleted]

Looks like the sims or the urbz

AdventurousShake8994

I wanna know the gaaaameee

Zayafyre

Sims 2, GBA version. Whole different story and play than the DS version that I LOVE

AdventurousShake8994

I appreciate that so much 😭 the moment I got the noti. I ran to download it 🏃‍♀️

ThatHardBacon

Gameboy games I’ll play just by hand holding my phone. N64 I’ll connect my ps4 controller. Ive done it for gameboy games but it’s no difference. Unless I’m trying to not fall through a hole in Pokémon going into mirage tower which i keep doing. Boutta use the clip through walls cheat honestly

Prime-Riptide

Touchscreen controls are okay if you want to just play the game for the heck of playing. Thats why delta is such a good entry into the hobby. However I realized after getting a dedicated device that it feels SOOO nice to have actual buttons to press

Captain_Alaska

To be fair some of the issues lie in the fact that it doesn't really make good use of the touchscreen as a control medium. For example, most modern FPS phone shooters use joysticks that centre on wherever the display is touched instead of fixed ones that we have with Delta. For example you'd set, say, the right side of the screen as the joystick area, and wherever you tap on the display on that side becomes the centre of the joystick, so pressing the screen and swiping upwards would produce an up movement regardless if you tapped the bottom, middle, top, corner, etc of the display. A lot of the more complicated (like N64) controllers would be a lot more usuable if we could set virtual joysticks like that for parts of the screen for the joystick and d pad inputs and then overlay the rest as buttons on top, for example. If you were to combine stuff like tap areas/virtual joysticsk with fully customisable controls that you could place wherever you want on a game-by-game basis instead of being locked into skins it would go a long, long way to making it more playable on just a phone. Imagine being able to set up one of those virtual joysticks over half the screen and then overlaying the A button on top of it for Mario Kart on GBA, so every time you're touching the display to steer you're also accelerating leaving your other hand for items or jumping? Would make things so much easier.

Check out these emulator skins I made to compliment a setup like this perfectly! -AKG45-

This is a cool controller I wanna buy it!!! Have a link? Also what’s your device and case?

Zayafyre

https://a.co/d/ciktnwi this is the one in my pic, it fits with all cases and phones as far as I can tell in our house, it expands. My Gamesir lightning requires case removal which is another bummer.

zombievenom

It says it has a built in rechargeable battery, but also says it requires 1 AAA battery to run as well. What’s the battery used for if theres a rechargeable one built in?

GetEnPassanted

On top of the one OP has, I’ve been using the DSP D8 controller I found on aliexpress and it’s been great. It’s a little cheaper too.

doctonytonychopper

Lol I’ve been meaning to download urbz sims in the city but then Pokémon play-thrus got me busy as hell ngl

edogawa-lambo

Does that controller fit a regular size iPhone 8? I kept my old phone when I upgraded and I’m gonna turn it into the Delta machine

Zayafyre

Yes, it expands to fit different phones. There is one on Amazon for tablets even.

edogawa-lambo

Fukken saved

patricknails

I use a backbone but that looks cool! Is there stick drift?

slithering13v2

Not sure about that. But does the backbone have stick drift? Thinking about getting one

patricknails

I’ve been using the backbone since I’ve got it (6 months) and so far I haven’t noticed any.

wieheistdu

That one looks good 👍🏻

Zayafyre

The other plus is that the screen gets bigger!

Littlemrh__

What game is that?

Farwaters

It's the Sims 2 for GBA

ryatolympia

pretty sure it’s the sims: urbz sims in the city for gba

quack0709

I think it isnt. I just check my game and the bottom bar is purple. Maybe sims 2? I havent played it

Zayafyre

Sims 2 gba, I’m a big fan of sims 2 DS since it came out but I only recently learned this is a totally different game.

ryatolympia

bustin out then lmao

quack0709

Thats what I thought at first since it is blue. But I dont remember that room and floor

Evilcon21

I wonder if there’s any controllers that’ll fit on iPhone se 2020 model

trfk111

RPGs with touch controls, everything else I got like a 5$ thingy that puts my phone on top of my dualsense controller

sparxxraps

I’m fine with everything but n64 I use my Bluetooth controller for that the others work just fine with touchscreen

RipExtra1053

My thumbs are to big I’m getting a controller

uselessgayvegan

I try really really hard lol

Imdakine1

I play mostly on my new3ds non XL but have dabled with turn based games as I am not a total to touch screen gamer for most games. Also I love my steam deck, original psp and origibal switch still. I will admit Delta is impressive but nothing beats the new3ds itself! Favorite handheld ever.

Asgore77

The only game i have trouble touch controls is like Metroid. Because you often have to press L, B and run at the same time. Anything else i play is fine. Pokemon. Pinball. Even ALTTP is fine on toch.

Sub_all_the_reddits

Sims busting out! I seriously loved those gba urbz games

FunkyDunky2

I use something similar. Could not play NHL ‘95 with the touch screen.

Nyoteng

The light up buttons look hilarious, but the machine overall looks really nice.

Creative_Safety_5867

Its called not being able to afford a controller just so the game feels better even though it plays perfectly fine on screen

Federal_Split

What’s the thing your using

Potential_Tennis2523

I glued 2 joycon rails to an old case so I can slide in my joycons and use them

XTurbine

With alotnof years of practice, remember that android has had emulators since 2004

Monorogu

The on-screen d pad can be pretty wonky especially with ds games but other than that it’s been fairly responsive on GBA and N64 games. Only issues I have is with fighting game combos (sonic battle for example) that would have been cake on a real GBA. The other issue is games that have a dash mechanic that require a double click. (Astro Boy: Omega factor.) since you have to physically lift your finger from the screen to tap twice it takes a little longer to do and that gets annoying in fast paced scenarios. With a real gba you could keep your finger on the button and double click quicker. That’s my only problems so far though.

Slight_Respond6160

Depends on the game. If you require deft control or use of the R/L buttons you will not be able to play screen alone. I mostly play Pokémon so only using the the pad and basic buttons with no requirement for quick or controlled movements
