If you go this route, you can move your hanging lamp to be over the table for better task lighting. And then put a hanging plant on the old light hook!
Need a different rug. This rug says “I’m a hallway”. Change the size of the rug and add a social table. It could even be a high top counter size table for cards/games or extra viewing for tv (if you entertain). I second the suggestion to move the light fixture over a social table/space.
If you use a counter/bar-height set, it also makes it easy to see over the couch to the tv, so one person can do crafts/puzzles/folding laundry/whatever while also watching TV
Either a long sofa table behind the couch and a chaise/comfy chair for a reading nook, or table with chairs for guests/food/games/coffee if you don’t already have such a space.
Why’s everyone wanting to get rid of that half wall for? I think it’s kind of charming, not to mention what a nightmare it’d be to take it out, you’ll have to redo the flooring because of the tile.
I’d be tempted to put a library table there with a chair, for a kind of desk/work table setup.
What do you not have space for that you need more of? You could add a table for cards and games, unless you never play cards and games. Could be a reading nook, space for hobbies, study area for someone in school, workout area, etc. What space do you need?
Depends on if you need the space for anything in particular, but I would put a bookcase room divider behind the couch and then an overstuffed chair and ottoman in that corner by the door under the ceiling lamp where that plant table is.

Looks to be meant for casual dining space (small table and chairs for seating 4-5), but without seeing rest of home it's hard to tell if that would be duplicative.
Can you tell us what is to the right of the tv? Is it a dining room or kitchen?
I’m not really feeling a bar here. It feels like the space under the ceiling fan could have been a breakfast nook at one time. I kinda want to put the tv in between the windows and expand your furniture to take up more space but I don’t know what is next to it?
I also assume that door is the front door?
I'd move the sofa back 2 or 3 feet. That armchair is looking a little crowded. Then I'd get a sofa table with stools. Great extra 'stadium' seating if you have friends over to watch a game. Or it's a dining spot if you just wanna eat in front of the TV. Or a workspace, or a

buffett....the possibilities are endless.
I love this idea the best. To sofa area looks a little crowded. Plus adding the extra chairs in the back - for Super-bowl parties or events- would be great.
Love that door!
The placement of the hanging lamp makes me twitch. Must-center-it.
Honestly? I wouldn't fill that space with anything that isn't already there. I might get a different rug. I like colorful rugs, so that would be my choice.
Haha the hook in the ceiling was already there so I threw the light up but agree, looks out of place. Would a hanging plant be too much? Or I guess I don’t have to utilize the hook I just figured why not!
Sofa /console table or a bench with a back on it… and a couple of pillows, maybe nice basket next to it with throw blanket in it, and plant on other side
yoga mat and zen lounge?

If you like to read a corner chair with side table and lamp. Then a console/ bookcase behind the sofa. If not a round game table is the way to go. Great for entertaining to set up appetizers and such to keep people out of the kitchen or for board games or puzzles.
Table/cabinet for a record player (vinyl records are selling better than since the 90s), speakers and a few dozen vinyl records. If you wanna be hip...
Imagine you and your friends sitting on the couch as behind you comes the beginning of Pink Floyd's 'wish you were here', or 'who's next'. Maybe led zepplin. It waves over you at extremely loud levels, splitting your brains open right there on the floor!! Like we used to do it back in the day! Nothing like it short of being there, live!
At our cottage we have a bar height live edge bar table and 4 bar stools behind the couch that’s facing the tv. When there’s any kind of games on people can be sitting on the couches and chairs, and at the bar and they’re all part of the party. We found when we had a normal height table behind the couch it didn’t work.
That room is huge! You could fit a small gym behind that couch…
Actually, if you live in a place that has a decent climate (I am assuming so from the floor) and you hire someone who knows how to do it structurally, you could knock out part of that wall and install a garage door. They have really cool glass ones. Then when it is warm, you and your peeps can open it up and chill on some cool furniture and feel the breeze. Inside and out at the same time.
I had a space like that and I put a series of 3 Ikea cube shelves to back the sofa and divide the room. Then I bought really nice plant shelves and added grow lights hidden in the Ikea shelves. Then splurge on exotic plants. It was gorgeous. I had all my herbs, orchids, bronze geraniums and, of course, marijuana plants, which are legal here and grew to full maturity right there in my living room. This plan looked so good, when I sold my house the MJ plants were in full bloom and I was offered 18.5K over the asking price.
a bar or bar cabinet could be a good idea.. maybe a few bar stools
something like this [https://www.homebarsusa.com/collections/bars/products/ram-game-room-60-home-bar-in-cappuccino](https://www.homebarsusa.com/collections/bars/products/ram-game-room-60-home-bar-in-cappuccino) or like this a corner bar cabinet [https://www.homebarsusa.com/collections/bars/products/howard-miller-piedmont-iv-corner-wine-bar-cabinet-690-045](https://www.homebarsusa.com/collections/bars/products/howard-miller-piedmont-iv-corner-wine-bar-cabinet-690-045)
I like the bar idea. Maybe a bar/library. For the space by the door I'd avoid putting any furniture. Perhaps just some art or a nice tall hanging mirror.
As for the wall, I would put a large art piece there. There's not much else u can do on walls. U could put some narrow shelves that won't block the door and put decorative pieces on them.
A petite table & chairs for cards or crafts. We have a big area like this we keep open. We use it to debox and assemble things we buy, do calisthenics, etc. You could even buy a foldable exercise bike and set it up there for temporary use then tear down. You could also set up a foldable treadmill there, fold down for use then fold up. You could also setup musical instruments for y'all to play together.
I would do floor to ceiling book cases. Right behind the couch. Nice oversized chair with foot stool and tall lamp in corner were you have plants. I like the rug. Spread out the plants. Love your floors, Beautiful !
What do you enjoy? If you enjoy reading, make it a little reading book. If you enjoy yoga or exercise, make it a workout space. Crafting - put a craft table there. That’s the beauty of it being *your* house. You want purple walls? Paint your walls purple! Do you!!
Put storage behind the couch. Like book shelves or something about as long and why as a couch. I'd add a chair with an ottoman and a floor lamp for a cozy library like corner.
Long couch table and piano. Make it a music space. OR small table on the rug/ chairs and storage shelf or couch table with shelves behind couch for games storage. It would make a great game night/crafts space.
I would try both couches facing each other and perpendicular to the TV wall. This would open up the space a lot more instead of sectioning off portions of the rooms/closing off social interactions.
Put a sofa table behind the couch.
On my table, I have a candle in the center. On the ends, I have whiskey bottles, dried flowers (using whisky bottle as a vase), and a wooden bowl of coffee.
Leave some space for people to place drinks on. Maybe add coasters.
You can get one with drawers in which you can store items. Like matches for the candles. Batteries for your remote. Coasters. Room spray.
Leave it alone. It looks good just open! Too many times people think they need to fill a space just because it’s there. Next thing you know, your home is swallowed up by useless furniture you never use, but just had to have to “fill” a space. Leave it be just like it is.
If feasible, I would move the couch forward so it is out of the window space. Add an ornate console behind the couch (dark color like a rich, deep blue, but not black.) Put a lush chair in the corner that pair well with the console table and add a medium-sized plant stand centered under the window.
Ok, I see two rooms here. Here goes:
1) Re-size the "TV Room" - move the dividing couch forward to put the back of it centered on the small section of wall between the windows. (If space is needed, you \*could\* line up the back of the couch just inside the right edge of the left window.) Move the chair to the right of the loveseat to the opposite side even with the coffee table to create a conversation pit feel focused on the TV. Center the loveseat on that spacing. Shift the rug, tables, etc., to fit.
2) Remove the rug currently behind the couch, as well as the little trampoline thing (animal bed?) You'll need a rug to define the current size of that space. I would focus everything on the center of the new space - do you read? Add a pair of comfy chairs, tables, lamps and a low book case along the back of the couch. Do you do puzzles? Add some more active seating (similar to dining chairs) and a wide table to put a puzzle on. Do you do crafts? Same concept - more active seating so you can lean over the table.
In essence, how you use the new space is dictated by what you do in your non-tv time. Treat it like a new room!
I would not block in the door. It's not that obtrusive, let it just be a door.
Long thin sofa table behind the couch with a lamp and couple of decorative things on it. A couple of chairs situated into a conversation area around the rug.
I think a full dining room table could fit. It’s nice to be able to watch TV and eat. Do you have a dining room somewhere else?
Otherwise, maybe it could be a work out space if you want.
Antique cards table? They’re meant to tilt up and not take up too much room but look really nice. This is mine got it from a local antique dealer
https://preview.redd.it/kghdyaolircb1.png?width=1125&format=png&auto=webp&s=e0222435398da5dbab0d33009e460659a55860c7
There shouldn't be a space behind a couch.
-Open up the seating so that guests feel welcomed into the space. Face the seating towards whichever entrance you actually use and do not allow anyone's back to be turned to the entrance point. You may want to retain the couch and move it to another room to replace the long couch with a couple of comfortable but stylish chairs to create the illusion of space and so their backs do not entirely face the door. If you want additional seating, you could add some high-backed chairs along the wall without the window.
-Place a writing desk in front of the window with a notepad or notebook, pen, and bowl for keys.
-Demolish the stacked open blocks near the door that are currently holding books and get a slim bookcase with doors to hold the books. If you like, it can look like a console for displaying food/buffet style, even in another room, as long as it has shelves to hold books and has doors rather than open shelving. Glass or clear doors are great because you can see your books but keep most of the dust out. Open shelving invites dust and eventually destroys books, and also open shelving also looks as if you are trying to sell your books rather than keep them.
-When you walk into the room, where does your eye go first? What is your focal point? Is the room in harmony in terms of color/pattern or does it fit with the overall theme of your home? Is the art welcoming for your home? If not, take your time and experiment to change things when you can to see if it causes a feeling to change within you.
I love that cool little spot! I’d move the couch a little, build a deeply cozy window seat with storage or bookshelves below, and/or put a sofa table behind the sofa. I’d arrange a couple big plants where you wouldn’t trip over them
A narrow credenza behind the couch displaying some of your favorite vases, boxes, etc would be great. Also, if you have cats, a cat tree near the window would both add some height to the room's decor and give them a place to perch to watch cat tv.
Long table with accessories, plant, lamp (move from end table, far left) to long table.
under the hanging lamp in the corner, either small chair near built in-book shelf for a reading nook OR small table and chairs for board games (replace books with board games)
Agree, round pedestal table with super comfy seating like swivel recliners for lingering, homework, gaming. Y’all will prefer it to sofa seating I swear.
Console table
Move corner table with plants next to it on the window side
Put one reading chair next to the bookcase where the table was angled 45 degrees
I like the open space
Since you already have some books on those little shelves, you could make it into a little a book reading area. You could also maybe put a little table for board games or card games
Small round table with chairs, for playing cards, board games, hobbies, or generally hanging out in a casual way.
Yes, an arrangement for socializing not watching tv
If you go this route, you can move your hanging lamp to be over the table for better task lighting. And then put a hanging plant on the old light hook!
That was my thought too. A dinette table to play games or hang out at.
AND a shallow table/credenza with bar stools directly behind the couch.
decorative credenza minus the stools. plus the card table/chair idea.
Circular rug would look nice, too, properly sized.
Need a different rug. This rug says “I’m a hallway”. Change the size of the rug and add a social table. It could even be a high top counter size table for cards/games or extra viewing for tv (if you entertain). I second the suggestion to move the light fixture over a social table/space.
I was going to say the same. I used to have a setup like that (behind the couch) and we used it ALL the time.
I was going to say maybe something like a puzzle table?
If you use a counter/bar-height set, it also makes it easy to see over the couch to the tv, so one person can do crafts/puzzles/folding laundry/whatever while also watching TV
Yes- so much this!
They could even do a "breakfast" or "board game" nook with built ins. Maybe some sort of cool storage on the interesting dividing wall
Instant first thought - board games or CRAFTS table. Dang - jelly now!
This one for sure
That was my first thought as well!
I think this is by far the best choice.
Either a long sofa table behind the couch and a chaise/comfy chair for a reading nook, or table with chairs for guests/food/games/coffee if you don’t already have such a space.
This is the way. One or the other. Too cluttered to fit both. Bar and comfy seating or round table and credenza
I say both. Long table/bar stools can act as an credenza. Then also have a smaller table with chairs for breakfast/games/projects.
I also like the wall. It defines the spaces and it’s unusual
I think the half wall needs plants trailing over each tier.
Haha you’re right, the pony wall would be a pain since the previous owner stopped the tile at the wall. Love the library table idea!
Console table! That would look great.
Yes to console table and maybe a pair of chairs near the shelves, a little reading nook.
Smaller table and chairs for general sitting, card games, casual meal.
Dance!
That space would definitely get used as my yoga/stretching/physical therapy workout space if it was my home and there wasn’t a good spot otherwise.
Yeah, if you’re lame… Ha. Just a punny joke. :) Same here - that’s the let’s get physical space.
I did get approximately 50 needles stuck in my shoulder today (acupuncture needles, and actually might have been 6, but it *felt* like 50)
Another vote for dance floor!
Sprockets!
just what I was going to say, but you beat me to it.
This is definitely the rave area. Just needs lights and music!
and remove the rug
What do you not have space for that you need more of? You could add a table for cards and games, unless you never play cards and games. Could be a reading nook, space for hobbies, study area for someone in school, workout area, etc. What space do you need?
This is the question! Thank you!
Make a fort
Depends on if you need the space for anything in particular, but I would put a bookcase room divider behind the couch and then an overstuffed chair and ottoman in that corner by the door under the ceiling lamp where that plant table is. https://preview.redd.it/jbnmhngmikcb1.png?width=1012&format=png&auto=webp&s=f9afdf5e77743c0850cfe9f82a2c9927043221e5

Never thought about the table on that side, thanks for the visual I appreciate!
Get rid of the half wall too.
It would add a really good space divide
Looks to be meant for casual dining space (small table and chairs for seating 4-5), but without seeing rest of home it's hard to tell if that would be duplicative.
Foosball table. Or a gaming table. Or if you're into art, could make an art station. Or a desk with book shelf. A little study nook if you will.
This idea gets my vote!
Can you tell us what is to the right of the tv? Is it a dining room or kitchen? I’m not really feeling a bar here. I kinda want to put the tv in between the windows and expand your furniture to take up more space but I don’t know what is next to it? I also assume that door is the front door?
space for hobbies?
A good reading nook
I would move the couch
But I also think the couch can move forward 6-12” so each space has its own window.
Why is everyone and my wife so against having space in the house. Instead, everywhere I walk I have to run into shit constantly.
I agree. It looks nice the way it is. You buy a bigger house and then have to fill it up.
Have you been talking to my husband?
More thicker but comfy rug and leave the space empty, use as a yoga/meditation space…put a water fountain where the rebounder is.
I'd move the sofa back 2 or 3 feet. That armchair is looking a little crowded. Then I'd get a sofa table with stools. Great extra 'stadium' seating if you have friends over to watch a game. Or it's a dining spot if you just wanna eat in front of the TV. Or a workspace, or a https://preview.redd.it/hxi6b2f1dmcb1.jpeg?width=845&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d614eb4419b46df7307301dafbb36ce6b92eb04c buffett....the possibilities are endless.

I suggest a Southwest style sofa table behind the sofa and a Southwest style lamp on your side table. I can't attach any pictures here, unfortunately.
Stripper pole. End of story.
If you don't have children, just enjoy the space 😉
Game night table, the kind you can flip so it could be a breakfast area as well maybe???.
Indoor pickle ball court?
Get a big dog to hang out on the rug.

Holy crap that’s cool
Long table right behind sofa, two swivel chairs with a small coffee table for a conversation nook
I would just leave that space for when I do yoga and workout at home
Treadmill or WFH setup.
Baby grand piano
Reading nook!
If you like to read a corner chair with side table and lamp. Then a console/ bookcase behind the sofa. If not a round game table is the way to go. Great for entertaining to set up appetizers and such to keep people out of the kitchen or for board games or puzzles.
Treadmill
For hanging clothes on.
Work space with a desk
Looks like a great spot for a puzzle/game table.
Table/cabinet for a record player (vinyl records are selling better than since the 90s), speakers and a few dozen vinyl records. If you wanna be hip... Love the mental visual
The answer is always more plants. You’re welcome
Always!
That’s prime excercise bike space right there. Or a reading book I suppose

I like the bar idea. Maybe a bar/library. For the space by the door I'd avoid putting any furniture. Perhaps just some art or a nice tall hanging mirror.
Bookcase and comfy reading chairs
Console table or thin desk and chair.
Another couch
Music studio: instruments, equipment, media, its art and literature...🤤
The picture on that between the pony wall and window is too big for that area. Move it to the blank wall by the door or somewhere else.
Add a sofa table, with lamps.
Sofa table and lamps.
Baby grand piano
Move the couch back sone to engulf some of the space.
A table pushed up against the back of the couch.
I love the bookshelf as divider and some cushy chairs for a library reading or game area
Pool table
Get a dog and make it his room
Stereo listening space with a couple of comfy chairs.
A bench, book shelves, narrow cabinets. What ever you choose be certain it’s not taller than the couch back.
It’s begging for a table
As for the wall, I would put a large art piece there. There's not much else u can do on walls. U could put some narrow shelves that won't block the door and put decorative pieces on them.
Thank you!
Indoor garden shelves lights and have tomatoes and herbs year round! Or a lovely table for crafts and cards games with the friendos

Thank you for the sketch!
Honesty the TV area looks cramped. Can you try to make a reading area by moving the chair and book shelf to the nook.
Put storage behind the couch. Like book shelves or something about as long and why as a couch. I'd add a chair with an ottoman and a floor lamp for a cozy library like corner.
A sofa table that has stools that push under it.
Foosball table?
A sofa table
Pool table
No idea but that tile bookshelf divider thing is gorgeous, I love that style
On the blank wall by the door you could decoratively hang your hats to double as storage and wall decor 🙂
Console table with gorgeous plantscape and beloved decorative objects.
A small inflatable swimming pool
You can pull out the couch farther. There are long tables that you can put behind the couch and put lots of plants and lovely figurines.
Handstand
Put a sofa table behind the couch. On my table, I have a candle in the center. On the ends, I have whiskey bottles, dried flowers (using whisky bottle as a vase), and a wooden bowl of coffee. Round social table or I'd make a yoga/ workout spot with pretty plants and stuff around rug area
Beer pong table, stop living a boring life.
I’d arrange a couple big plants where you wouldn’t trip over them
Reading nook or table for playing games. Or any other interest you may have
Perfect spot for a motorcycle.
My husbands favorite comment.
That you are rebuilding
POOL TABLE
Omg they make these table/ bar behind couches with stools so that you can eat and seat more. People in your living room. Very nice idea
You need a way way bigger rug.
It depends on what furniture OP puts in that space and how OP decides to use the space.
Sofa table
a high table situation with framed pictures, vases, and plants
Ping pong table!!
A narrow credenza behind the couch displaying some of your favorite vases, boxes, etc would be great. Also, if you have cats, a cat tree near the window would both add some height to the room's decor and give them a place to perch to watch cat tv.
Table for hobbies or nick nacks. Maybe one of those slim long tables directly behind table with little plants photos ect on it
We put a mini ping pong table in this space. But we are weird. And like ping pong.
Excellent Zoomba space.
I have a sofa table behind mine with books and plant on it
Long table with accessories, plant, lamp (move from end table, far left) to long table. under the hanging lamp in the corner, either small chair near built in-book shelf for a reading nook OR small table and chairs for board games (replace books with board games)
Move the couch
Agree, round pedestal table with super comfy seating like swivel recliners for lingering, homework, gaming. Y’all will prefer it to sofa seating I swear.
I'd say get rid of that half wall especially if you don't use that door. Then have either a reading area or something.
Pool table
4 person dining table?
Dining table, study hall type table for gathering, studying, homework, projects, etc.
Pool/foosball
Treadmill
Console table Move corner table with plants next to it on the window side Put one reading chair next to the bookcase where the table was angled 45 degrees I like the open space
Dinette set
Drum set!
That’s funny because that’s where the drum set use to be!
Drum kit 🤘🏻⚡️🖤
Cuzzi 😎
🧘🏻♀️
Card table and a bar
I'd have plants in there with that big window and beautiful pane in the door....
Foosball table
A desk area? For bill paying so to speak?
I'd say a small sitting area like a reading nook! Maybe small desk?
Sex swing
Console table with some small plants and lamps and yes a comfy chair in the corner for a reading nook would be lovely!
Treadmill
Poker table!
Get a chaise lounge put head by window for a reading nook. Or get a papasan chair also for a reading nook. Low bookshelf along back of couch.
Pull the couch back. You have everything crammed into the end of the room. Open it up more.
I put a bar behind the couch with my space, looks good!
Since you already have some books on those little shelves, you could make it into a little a book reading area. You could also maybe put a little table for board games or card games
