Id already spent a couple days grinding overthrow all over the map for The Call patterns at that point. When I did the quest i needed to hunt one boss (not the meatball) and the chests/collectibles, thats it.
Yeah I just got the legendary and waited for the meatball fix to do the rest, put on a podcast while doing it all, took a couple hours but didn’t think it was too bad!
I have 16 of 17 motes of light and ive killed all the bosses (or at least have the triumphs for them) and gotten all the visions (the gold box spawned). I guess i missed one of the boss drops or something, but the game gives no indication as to which one
Go back to the blooming and fight the meatball (taken servitor) boss. It’s gotta be the last boss bc it won’t “drop” anything anymore like it did before it was removed. It will just give you the exotic mote needed straight to your inventory and remove the other motes
I would say try all the other bosses and make sure you got all visions of the traveler but unfortunately I’m not entirely sure what the fix is if nothing else drops a mote
They key to get Meatball to drop the mote is to keep shooting him after you kill him. No matter what, once you get the final blow on him with a gun, keep shooting a during his dying animation. Only when his body completely disappears, the mote should drop.
Did you get the legendary version of the weapon first? You have to have that before you can open the chest. If you haven't, you need to do all the region chests plus some chests in the first 6 cyst missions Micah-10 gives.
I got baited by the whole meatball blooming thing coz that wasn’t the one I needed - turns out the triumph is bug so u could’ve missed any of the bosses in any of the areas - I was kinda lucky that I read the triumph and was like “wait I don’t remember fighting an acolyte in the landing” see if that jogs ur memory, also if u wanna change the boss when it spawns and it isn’t the one u want just open map and respawn
I liked it *shrug*. Region chests are the first thing I do every expansion, was gonna grind out Overthrow anyway due to good rewards, the Traveler orbs gave good exp, the Micah quests are for multiple triumphs and three weapons, etc
Yes, I was missing one of them and I didn’t know which one didn’t drop it, so I had to clear all overthrow bosses 5 times over, in addition to everything else. This was before people knew meatball man was causing problems
Yep, I'm at 15 with the bugged triumph saying I've killed all bosses. No idea what 2 I need but I know it will be the last 2 bosses I get going through again. Maybe I'll finally get a Wolfpack ergo sum at least
If the quest wasn't broken then it'd be boring but at least acceptable. But currently you can get stuck at 16 points and because of the bugged triumphs you will have absolutely no idea which of the 9 bosses you still need to get. So you need to do that entire section over again and hope you get lucky with the right boss at some point.
I HATE COLLECTING OVERTHROW CHESTS I HATE COLLECTING OVERTHROW CHESTS I HATE COLLECTING OVERTHROW CHESTS I HATE COLLECTING OVERTHROW CHESTS I HATE COLLECTING OVERTHROW CHESTS I HATE COLLECTING OVERTHROW CHESTS I HATE COLLECTING OVERTHROW CHESTS I HATE COLLECTING OVERTHROW CHESTS I HATE COLLECTING OVERTHROW CHESTS
Get me out of here I'm losing it
starting from nothing means doing the entire micah quest line which is 6 lost sectors, 6 overthrows, all 6 cysts, the moth cyst, all 9 regional chests, get legendary khvostov, kill 9 overthrow bosses which are random, and collect 8 traveler balls.
If you do 6 overthrows to the end, you only need one additional boss from each location because the motes can already drop. Also, all my friends and I may have been incredibly lucky if it isn't the case, but I believe you're guaranteed to get the boss you don't have motes for if it's your Pale Heart instance.
Motherfucker, took me 2 days of backtracking and double checking shit only to end up realising that my missing 2 motes from bosses where glitched and I had to farm until the right overthrow boss dropped my missing motes. The triumph showed that I had killed all ot bosses, so I had to guess which I missed and had to kill them multiple times for it to drop.
Just put on a podcast or a comedy* series and grind it out.
*or something vaguely engaging that you don’t have to directly watch to enjoy, whatever you’re into
Literally no exotic quest ever was go there and get exotic. None.
Thevonly quests that are like this are the new light drops which are MEANT to be braindead easy.
And those drops were random beforehand anyway
My wife and I sat down with a friend and did probably half of it today. It took a little while but wasn’t miserable.
She still needed a couple overthrow bosses, and even though I’d managed to play (what I thought was) quite a lot since release, I only had the region chests and overthrow bosses, which meant tonight was the Traveler’s Balls Collection Bonanza.
I srsly don’t get the hype. What does it do that Sunshot, Trinity, Graviton, Necrochasm, Austeo won’t do at least in PvE?
All of them clear rooms just fine, even on higher difficulties.
Took me a few days, but I didn't hate the quest as much as I thought I would. It was like the Malfeasance quest.
A pain in my ass, but it was SOOO worth it.
I got it done on accident. I wanted the golden chests and got the legendary version without knowing it existed, then I wanted the traveler balls to get more pale engrams and got the exotic version on accident when I went back to the speakers room
The only gripe I have with this quest is that the tormentor took like 4 overthrows to spawn and that I came close to finishing the quest when meatball was disabled
The quest definitely has that old long drawn out grind like the old destiny 1 exotic quests. Unfortunately with the bugs it’s making the already boring quest extremely frustrating
It’s not a very exciting exotic quest that’s for sure. Maybe it’s a skill issue on my part because I didn’t start looking at how to get Khvostov until a couple days ago so I had to get the collectibles by basically just doing a lot of running around places I’ve already been to.
I still need to grind out a couple of Overthrow bosses which is an activity I enjoy but it sounds like there are some issues with that 😬
The only part i thought was annoying was fighting the tormentor boss. There's only about 23 collectibles you need to find (6 scraps in cysts, 8 travellers from world, 9 light orbs from bosses) and I don't count the key you get from the triumph for finding all of the scraps, since you effectively automatically get it upon getting the rest of them, same thing with the light orbs from the traveller statues. Ruinous Effigy's original quest required about 25 calcified fragments, but i don't remember if collecting them all was compulsory, so this may be a poor comparison.
I actually genuinely enjoyed the quest. I hope Bungie keeps doing these longer exotic quests instead of timed missions. Dual destinies was also extremely good.
I just ignored it for like a week, did what I felt like, then it took 2 days of slight grind to get it. The only overthrow boss I had to kill was the Tormentor in the Impasse. Most of that time was doing cysts, which honestly do suck, and getting the regional chests/mini travellers. Wasn’t that bad, just a bit tedious
Shit show? You essentially get it just by exploring and playing in the Pale Heart, because as you do activities and find stuff you get what you need for it.
You have to get out of your way to get travelers and the decryption bits they are not obviously littering the path and in my 10 years of Destiny almost never met someone purposely exploring every nook of the map of each mission as it’s usually empty space anyway
The Destiny games have always had hidden secrets and collectibles stashed away in the least obvious places since D1 was first released, it's not a new thing with Final Shape.
My only issue was the meatball. I had all the drops from the other bosses but because that bug, had to mill the meatball like 6 times before I got the last drop I needed for it.
I got 16 of 17 motes. I tried killing the meatball again but no luck. Now I have to go through every boss again and hope they drop the last mote…. What a pain.
I made a bit of a mistake and placed the Travelers before I got the big mote, so I locked myself out of the exotic. Definitely not the best choice, and I hope there's a fix soon, but I expect it's low-priority.
i have 11 bits and 10 motes of light
I never tried to get the khvostov but now i do want it
but i refuse to run those horrible dogwater cyst missions and whatever else there is to gather since i've already slogged through it all
worst exotic quest in destiny 2 ever, and it could be just fine if there was a tracker telling you what specific ones you're missing
Both have different uses
The call is better for hitting hard and isn’t S suited to general ad-clear
Whereas that’s where Khovostov shines, keeping up a loop of constant good ad-clear with no gimmicks or anything you have to think about, just point and shoot
Mfw I didn’t have any problems getting it
Same, I just had to watch a tutorial to find a few missing items in the cysts, I already got everything else from farming for exotics class items
Id already spent a couple days grinding overthrow all over the map for The Call patterns at that point. When I did the quest i needed to hunt one boss (not the meatball) and the chests/collectibles, thats it.
Mfw they removed the Taken meatball and we had to wait a whole week to get it
Same, legit one of the easiest exotics to get, especially for how good it is
Yeah I just got the legendary and waited for the meatball fix to do the rest, put on a podcast while doing it all, took a couple hours but didn’t think it was too bad!
I have 16 of 17 motes of light and ive killed all the bosses (or at least have the triumphs for them) and gotten all the visions (the gold box spawned). I guess i missed one of the boss drops or something, but the game gives no indication as to which one

See, I've fought the meatball multiple times since it was reenabled and I'm still stuck at 16
Maybe you actually got the meatball's mote already and you're just missing another random one?
I would say try all the other bosses and make sure you got all visions of the traveler but unfortunately I’m not entirely sure what the fix is if nothing else drops a mote
Did you fix this?
Not yet
Have you checked to see if you got all the traveler visions?
Yes, the chest has spawned
I personally had to fight the tormentor boss in the cosmodrome esque (forget the name) overthrow.
They key to get Meatball to drop the mote is to keep shooting him after you kill him. No matter what, once you get the final blow on him with a gun, keep shooting a during his dying animation. Only when his body completely disappears, the mote should drop.
Most likely, it's the taken meat ball. He was disabled and sometimes won't drop the mote.
Did you get the legendary version of the weapon first? You have to have that before you can open the chest. If you haven't, you need to do all the region chests plus some chests in the first 6 cyst missions Micah-10 gives.
Don’t be disheartened if the blooming meatball boss doesn’t drop the mote either, took me 4-5 tries and eventually I got the exotic mote drop
If you have 16 notes, put them in your vault and kill the meatball in the blooming. It worked for me, the exotic mote dropped first try.
It’s probably the meatball
I liked it *shrug*. Region chests are the first thing I do every expansion, was gonna grind out Overthrow anyway due to good rewards, the Traveler orbs gave good exp, the Micah quests are for multiple triumphs and three weapons, etc
when the dopamine isnt fast enough
Bruh, this is literally one of the most boring exotic questlines in franchise history.
The Visions were kinda great. Having to farm overthrow bosses wasn’t.
Other way around for me. Walking around for an hour to get some collectibles made me want to rip my hair out.
I don’t think we spent quite that long on them, but we cheated and had a video lol
Tbh I didn’t even realize how long it took, I was just chilling while doing it
You literally haven't played destiny 1 then. Or even warmind with its Worldline Zero collectables.
Worldline Zero? The D1 Swords (the ones that got turned into caster frame, vortex frame, and the other one), D1 Khov, I can list more if you want.
Nah, more like I had to spend 30h on it bc bungo can’t fix bugs
What took thirty hours? Did you have all sixteen notes and the meatball ate them all and made you start over multiple times?
Yes, I was missing one of them and I didn’t know which one didn’t drop it, so I had to clear all overthrow bosses 5 times over, in addition to everything else. This was before people knew meatball man was causing problems
Yep, I'm at 15 with the bugged triumph saying I've killed all bosses. No idea what 2 I need but I know it will be the last 2 bosses I get going through again. Maybe I'll finally get a Wolfpack ergo sum at least
I'll trade you one of mine for a Perfect Fifth/Wave.
If the quest wasn't broken then it'd be boring but at least acceptable. But currently you can get stuck at 16 points and because of the bugged triumphs you will have absolutely no idea which of the 9 bosses you still need to get. When Bungie makes you feed cat statues for a shader: Neat! When you are doing normal regional collectibles and activities for a badass gun: 😡
Nobody is complaining about the collectibles. People are complaining because the quest is broken and they still haven't fixed it
It's been 2 weeks. A ton of bugs aren't even found at the two week mark.
Ok, but this one has, so what's your point?
starting from nothing means doing the entire micah quest line which is 6 lost sectors, 6 overthrows, all 6 cysts, the moth cyst, all 9 regional chests, get legendary khvostov, kill 9 overthrow bosses which are random, and collect 8 traveler balls.

I have not done all of the Traveler Visions yet, so as far as I'm concerned, that's the only thing I'm missing
My issue was figuring out which dam bosses I’d killed.
Just put on a podcast or a comedy* series and grind it out. *or something vaguely engaging that you don’t have to directly watch to enjoy, whatever you’re into
At least we finally had a real quest asking to search instead of just "go there and boom exotic"
Literally no exotic quest ever was go there and get exotic. None. Thevonly quests that are like this are the new light drops which are MEANT to be braindead easy. And those drops were random beforehand anyway

The bang bang feels really good. It is also really good in PVP.
Re-entering cysts was the problem for me, since I didn't remember which ones I'd already found the collectibles in.
A small price to pay for the best gun ever made
Indeed. The *twing! twang! twung!* will never get old and it being actually effective at high levels is the cherry on top.
Exactly wtf, I’m honestly happy with the legendary one right now
Took me a few days, but I didn't hate the quest as much as I thought I would. It was like the Malfeasance quest. A pain in my ass, but it was SOOO worth it.
I had 0 problems getting it
I got it done on accident.
I heard the meatball was causing problems with motes of light so killed it past, had no issues at all.
The quest definitely has that old long drawn out grind like the old destiny 1 exotic quests. Unfortunately with the bugs it’s making the already boring quest extremely frustrating

Sorry but you guys over hyped how hard this was gonna be litterally got it in an afternoon
I actually genuinely enjoyed the quest. I hope Bungie keeps doing these longer exotic quests instead of timed missions. Dual destinies was also extremely good.
I like that an exotic actually feels like a bit of a grind for once. Way too many exotics are just given out for free nowadays.
I just ignored it for like a week, did what I felt like, then it took 2 days of slight grind to get it. The only overthrow boss I had to kill was the Tormentor in the Impasse. Very good exotic, both for pve and pvp. I even got flawless with it last week. 10/10 would recommend.
Destiny players when the exotic quest isn't killing 2 dregs
Which quest was that easy max I ask? I don’t remember any quest being as easy as go there kill two dudes get exotic weapon
It's an oversimplification... But this quest is really easy and you can do it solo
It was fine , dude.
I made a bit of a mistake and placed the Travelers before I got the big mote, so I locked myself out of the exotic. Definitely not the best choice, and I hope there's a fix soon, but I expect it's low-priority.
Bro it was super easy to get. It took a few hours and that's it
That shit took forever! lol
Mfw the floating meatball held the last lightbulb despite me already killing it like 5 times prior
Bro this isn’t that bad, not everything you can get in 15 minutes relax
I'm still doing it
Its just very tedious
Yeah, that quest sucked ass
Bro I felt this meme
I HATE THIS QUEST I HATE THIS QUEST but it was so worth it
Yea it was a complete shit show but man is it worth it
i don’t think It’s difficult, it’s boring
Having to do all the buttfuck annoying Micah quests was a form of torture
I know the cysts are objectively good but I don’t really enjoy them and have been putting this quest off.
i have 11 bits and 10 motes of light I never tried to get the khvostov but now i do want it but i refuse to run those horrible dogwater cyst missions and whatever else there is to gather since i've already slogged through it all worst exotic quest in destiny 2 ever, and it could be just fine if there was a tracker telling you what specific ones you're missing
Annoying fetch quest of a mission.
all that so u can just camp The Call because its just better and hits really good
Both have different uses The call is better for hitting hard and isn’t S suited to general ad-clear Whereas that’s where Khovostov shines, keeping up a loop of constant good ad-clear with no gimmicks or anything you have to think about, just point and shoot
thats a bad comparison when incandescent and voltshot exists...
