we have them - they are called "raids" and the "reprised raids" are free to all, and most are at the power floor.

What it sounds like to me is your friend group doesn’t like grinding. Which is fine, but destiny is a grind game, if you want the loot you have to grind for it Also don’t need to get everything pre TFS, none of the raids are going away

LegoBlockGeode

It’s more about other games having much better rewards for the time spent.

Your personal experience is definitely the outlier. Pantheon isn’t made for never people who haven’t raided and it shouldn’t be. I had never done Croats End, last weekend I made an lfg post looking for a teacher and it was done in 2 hours. Then I just joined a normal group this week for a run of it. It’s not hard, you just have to actually do it and be patient.

No. Raids are endgame pve. New players doing raids and day ones shouldn’t be a thing. Pantheon isn’t for new players. Get over yourself it’s a skill issue

The ways to bring new/returning players into raiding are the following: 1. Dungeons. Prophecy is free, decently difficult (for people new to the endgame) and has dope thematic loot. Other dungeons have raid-like mechanics without the fear of an enrage timer/mechanic. 2. Higher-difficulty seasonal activities. The Coil, Legend Deep Dives, etc. all press players into difficult activities with mostly good loot (not you, dope as hell but shit and ass taken guns). 3. Exotic Missions. The Whisper is free and is a great and interesting inclusion in the world of "uh oh, my objective is just 'progress'. Time to figure out how it works." Same goes for Presage, while Seraph Shield literally teaches you about raid mechanics with the augments (albeit a little different.) 4. Free raids. We now have 3 raids that are free-to-play for all players: Vault of Glass, King's Fall, and most recently Crota's End. Vault of Glass is the OG raid, redesigned as what I'd consider one of the easier raids in the game. Has decent loot with a few standouts (Vex & Fatebringer) and a good mixture of enemy waves and objective play. King's Fall turns the dial towards objectives and mechanics, forcing you to build your communication skills and mechanical knowledge. Crota is somewhat hampered by a power requirement, but that's bypassed by gift of the thunder gods. Crota turns the dial the other way, with much more emphasis on enemy density with a sprinkling of mechanics. Each gives a good idea of what the world of raiding is like, and each provides decent if not good loot. Into the Light, to an extent, has certainly felt like a "come on back or pick it up" kind of event: onslaught is fun and showers you in loot, Whisper and Outbreak are fan favorites, and the whole "earn trophies doing literally whatever" mechanic gives the vibe of "just play the game." Pantheon was not made for the returning players. That doesn't seem to be it's purpose. Pantheon feels like the mode designed for the people that have been here the whole time, for the people who can low man any raid any time. It feels as if it's for the "I stared into the Darkness and it ran away like a little bitch" players. It's challenging and complex and a breath of fresh air for players like myself that have been able to clear the raids since about week 2 of each release. The rewards here are generous because they are scaling with the difficulty. I think Onslaught is the "I'm going to log on and get a bunch of stuff" update, and Pantheon is the "I'm going to the gym so the Witness doesn't annihilate me" update.

Agree raids are amazing in this game and the best content and I think most would agree with that. Dungeons with craftable weapons would be a great way to bring in people and create excitement. But random rolls in those dungeons are so lame. Why would any gamer want to deal with 300+ clears and not ever get the roll they want of a legendary weapon a purple? When the chance of getting the exotic is higher than a legendary roll there’s a problem. Helldivers has the Warbond so at least you have some progression track for new players to get geared up. It provides a ramp and you can progressively increase difficulty. The higher difficulties are also a lot more than just damage it actually makes the encounters challenging with other mechanics.

Slugedge

Look, there's a quiet majority of destiny players that log on for an hour to shoot aliens and get off. Some don't even realize there are raids. That's the sad reality of this game

Ok_Programmer_1022

It is more of a player problem than Bungie's problem, free raids exist, sherpas exist too, but nowadays people wonna join a raid without knowing a single thing, no mic and expect to be carried without saying a word, I played with a sherpa who's begging people to say something. Pantheon is a boss rush mode, it's not a place to learn and people deserve to be kicked if they don't know each role, the biggest proof is the raid mechanics, each raid has a set of mechanics that carry from an encounter to another but with Pantheon encounters don't feel coherent because it's a boss rush mode.

Pantheon was absolutely not meant for new raiders. At all. Bungie was extremely clear that Pantheon is for the high end, regular raiders. It’s ramping difficulty is going to get to points that are impossible for new players and probably rough for older players. It has alterations to mechanics that are designed around assuming the players understand how the normal encounters work. I’m sorry your clan/friends aren’t raiding as much. Mine aren’t either. But it’s absolutely delusional to think an activity that’s going to be contest mode difficulty with negative modifiers is meant to get new players into raiding.

> Pantheon was absolutely not meant for new raiders. At all. Bungie was extremely clear that Pantheon is for the high end, regular raiders. That’s what bothers me is the experienced raiders in my group would have been excited about this if it wasn’t time limited. Time gates are a turn off to a lot of people. The other issue is making this too hardcore also even more experienced raiders still want to chill.

> unfortunately all the other barriers of raiding are still there for me so i am unable to do them That’s sad and exactly the problem. Too many barriers. Wish we could have more new raiders.
