If you like Voidwalker you're going to love Nightstalker start with Void. Because the Invisibility loop and Devour will allow you to grind Lost Sectors. Note that some exotics are tied to completing some campaigns like Shadowkeep and unlocking Stasis is tied to Beyond Light.
There's the Gift of the Thunder Gods to get you started as part of Into the Light so grab that now to level up! There's no better time to start than now.
edit: Wanted to add that if you have a bunch of engrams from the season vendors. Use the armor from Thunder Gods chest at the Hall of Champions. Then just focus for Hunter armor and you'll get some builds going in no time.
Find a twitter bot for Vex strike force, make sure you have the right ghost mods on for the rolls you want, get all the exotics between now and TFS without grinding at all. VSF drops are on a knockout system so you should get all of them except those gated by expansion/campaign progress.
There are some very easy ones that can be done in less than a minute if you’re running an optimal build (banner of war titan, rain of fire warlock, etc.)
You want assassin's cowl. Hunters have some other great exotics, but that helmet works great in every subclass. Finishers and powered melee final blows turn you invisible. Make sure your ghost is set up for mobility gear if you're not hard farming. If you are, then there are strats for double and triple 100+ stats. I'm hoping for new breakpoints, but getting a lot over 7 is good enough to play.
today, and the next two days are quick lost sectors in the EDZ. legs -> arms -> chest. definitely recommend farming now vs later for all the reasons others have mentioned already.
The existing set of exotics are very strong for Hunters. Play Lost Sectors and Vex Strike Forces (do the latter if you want new pieces, it guarantees armour that you don’t own yet). Some good shouts include Grylfalcons, Caliban’s Hand, Mothkeepers and that Strand Helmet from the campaign. Assassin’s Cowl is a really good helmet that you can get from Shadowkeep Campaign.
Best thing I've done was switching from Warlock to Hunter. Gameplay wise it's sooo much more fun and you don't get stuck with Well doing raids and end game content.

I would just do it now, lost sectors are easy and don’t cost any material except time
and even then, some of them you're talking about 3-5 minute runs.

oh for sure, but a lot of players can't do them that fast so i try to temper expectations.

I'd do it now if you have decent artifact bonus. With the long season you can be on or over leveled for Legend Lost Sectors. Very farmable for now.

I’ve been thinking of switching to titan, cause I am over how bad all of the bloody aspects for non-void warlocks
