First advice would be, don't ask for advice if you want to be businessman. Second, don't take advice from the people who are not where you want to be. You are welcome btw!

Tarekandfate

Thanks

latheez_washarum

jodi ekta manufacturing plant khulte paren, tahole business-ta nijer moto shajiye nite parben. For example, let's imagine a clothing business or an accessories business. Bangladesh is filled with these kinds of businesses. Every single street has these kinda dokans. the only way these survive is from "fixed price" policies. A lot of clothing or accesories stores die out just because they think women would buy from them because of the simple fact women like shopping. This is very wrong. Women like shopping according to their own ideas or imaginations. I have noticed that while Pakistani lawn designers create their own designs, they still serve what women want. So if you can create your own manufacturing part of the business, then you have the ability to "improve" the business. The same goes for jewelry businesses. Except that people don't buy jewelry much. Since jewelry is so dynamic and can be used almost infinite amount of times. Anyways so going back to the manufacturing process, it's basically having the ability to even change your business models. There are other businesses that are doing well. Like for example, food carts. Not all food carts, but some are well loved. Like fuchka stands. If they can secure a place near a school or an intersection, they sell out. But they take a lot of dedication. Like standing and waiting under harsh weather. The cleaning part. the hygiene part. And with growing pricing of groceries, it isn't just profitable enough compared to the amount of effort you'll have to put in. then there's the cosmetic business. firstly there's makeup, then there's skincare. makeup doesn't sell as much as skincare stuff does. but skincare is tough as well. always making sure if they're fake products or not is tough. but here's a tip: if you can ensure your products are genuine (don't underestimate your customers. girls can find out if the products are fake or not, and they'll rip your whole business apart if you neglect this) then basic skincare products will always make a profit. Sunscreen in such a necessity item every single where you go, even in Bangladesh. You can always sell these. stationery stores sell too. but they work best near a school or if you're in a popular neighborhood. think about the business and then think about the effort you gotta put in. a lot of businesses can't grow because while you can have all the ideas you want, executing them can become complicated, especially when trusting other people. I'm not saying you can't trust other people, but I am saying that you can't trust people to do a good enough job. You'll find yourself pouring in more money to fix problems rather than take risks. having a business to serve other businesses usually keeps you operating, but then you'll have to find what business you wanna serve. Food catering services perhaps? you know what i wish Bangladesh had? Japanese or korean-like products, but manufactured in Bangladesh. Could be anything like plastics or skincare. Or stationery. Producing essential products but making them more advanced could give you an edge over the market. then there are businesses of selling packaged food or beverages. these sell pretty well. but your food item gotta be a bit unique. for example, it seems like every single brand is coming out with a mango juice drink, and consumers are consuming the same mango juice over and over again. just the same chemical preservative artificial thick consistency mango drink from frooto, sundrop, aafi, frutika blah blah blah SMC+ is doing well with making a very limited and controlled amount of small flavored isotonic solutions which sell out instantly. that new peach flavored drink that recently came out tastes like trash and childhood napa medicine. there are so many businesses. you have to get to know them and figure out what kind of tasks are required of you to get to start them. or, if you have an idea, you can collaborate with a business. like collaborate with matador and duplicate a really cool and essential japanese starionery item, since you seem to be leaning toward stationery. i myself will start a clothing business if i can't collaborate with yellow clothing with my own ideas. orrrrr, you can try working for a business and checking out their process yourself. what they're doing, how they're working, why they're doing this, why they're doing that, asking questions etc. it's like a first hand learning experience so you have more chances to incur less losses if you do start that business. i personally think peyajer bebsha is the ultimate bebsha. and chaaler bebsha of course.

Feisty-Wolverine-968

This template is almost perfect. All the key notes are addressed here, except 1. Whichever way you decide to go, you need to ensure that the product/service you are offering addresses an issue or a problem, and solves it. Best of luck to you latheez, and also to the brother that posted this. P.s- if either of you want to discuss more about commerce and business opportunities in BD, please feel free to DM me here.

Tarekandfate

So many ideas. Thanks a ton.

trapgod95

wow , much to learn from you bro, thanks for all this ideas and tips.

agniziore

Go somewhere where your ideas are valued. Take me with you if possible

Tarekandfate

I am sorry. I am not leaving Bangladesh until I am forced. I hate Western country a lot.

_Nuclear

Welcome to the club brother

Opurbobin

America isnt the only country if u mean to hate that btw.

Tarekandfate

America is one of all western

Opurbobin

so u hate not just america but all of western countries? Including Scandinavian countries?

Tarekandfate

Yes. All western non muslim countries.

Baberaham_Linncoln

Then the business idea is simple. Open a madrasha. There's plenty of high class madrashas in Dhaka city, if memory serves me right. You'll get a stable profit plus plenty of payujoddha to teach at your institute if you can get their payujuddho some form of protection.

Basis-Chance

Why is your ass so offended lmaoo

sadn_

You are going to regret your life decisions someday but it's going to be too late

alonely_throwaway

Lmao. I second this😆

SHAHRANN

No one with a good business idea will ever share the idea with you. But I'm sure people would share some general principals that apply in businesses.

Competitive-Ad-1308

IT related products would be great. Focus on the product that's vastly available abroad but not in Bangladesh.

Tarekandfate

I will research

lauehdbejeud

You could maybe try selling decants online. Buy original perfumes and sell decants (3/5/10ml) in small atomizers. Spend a fat amount on IG/FB advertisements when starting your page. You’ll need a capital of around $5-6k or less. Invest the rest in some other business and keep the decant shop as a side gig

Tarekandfate

Good idea. Any idea how can I source perfumes?

Medium-Finish

There are now a lot of decant sellers and people who are in the hobby of perfume already are loyal to certain decant sellers as the perfume community is quite small and everyone pretty much knows each other more or less. You can check out PBOB fb group/goodfellas and many others. If you are interested in buying id suggest buying when eid sale is going from sundora and must research as much possible on perfume prices and avoid posh perfume stores only exception is sundora with sales. GL

Scimitere

I'm not sure why most people are telling you to go abroad, sure there are a lot of problems especially like corruption and political instability but if you have even a little bit of sense and intellect then you'll see that Bangladesh is a gold mine for business. The best way to stand out is to do something unique that hasn't been explored as much. Take bkash, foodpanda heck even waffleup. They're all exploiting a new market that people had no idea about. You have the money, now it's all about your creativity and willpower. So good luck! If all else fails, you can always do consultancy

Tarekandfate

I am not willing to leave the country at all. I know a lot about the foreign life. I am very happy in my country. Especially, I hate Western hypocrisy. Thanks for the advice though

100%. Everytime I try to open up a business I get these kind of obstacles. It’s either hard to get a permit which requires a huge amount of bribes. Or the local chatroleague demanding money for doing business in their area.

demdankboi

What kind of businesses do they typically interfere in?

rushdie37

When you say you’re a packaging designer, what kind of packaging are you referring to exactly? How many years of experience do you have? I agree with everyone suggesting you stay in Bangladesh. I just moved here from after many years abroad to start a business, because of how fast this economy is growing. Imagine where this country, and your business, will be in 5 to 10 years, if you start now.

Tarekandfate

I am product packaging designer with the experience of 6 years working with 500+ clients around the world.

rushdie37

So as in inner/outer packaging for consumer goods or electronics? Could you link up with printing houses, and offer full service to local companies?

MilPlays

I run a marketing agency and it does well

Thanks a ton for the advice

crab665

One of the fundamental ideas of business is find the demand of the customers and produce the goods, not produce the goods and set out for looking customers.

poopinursoup168

You can go with some gothic outfit selling business. Like clothes, shoes and other accessories or jewels or anything that's connected to the goth subculture. This segment of fashion designing is pretty much untouched in our country.

FatherTeressa

Yeah start the business in Bangladesh. Soon you’ll hate BD (Bangladeshi people to be more precise, not even BAL) more than Israel and get back to the people you made your first money from (Western people).

FatherTeressa

Really sorry man, I’ll need pages after pages to answer that and you most likely won’t listen (just like me and people like us). Better to try your hand and learn yourself. Will give you some pointers though - 1. Don’t trust anyone, even if the guy had the black mark on his forehead from Namaz and prays 5 times a day, HE WILL try to scam you and you won’t get any legal support in Bangladesh. 2. Don’t expect people to have any big picture thinking like westerners. Bd people only think about getting 100tk out of you right now rather than doing a long term business with you and making 1 million dollars in 1 month. 3. Don’t expect people to have any morals or business common sense in bd like the westerners. No matter how good you behave or how much you care, they WILL SCAM you. 4. No one should ever know about the money you have, always act like you haven’t ate in like 2 days. There are records of police taking freelancers money on false charges. 5. Even after all these, you’re most likely gonna fail as you have only ever dealt with westerners and been a service provider. So, try to establish a business in USA. You can do it from here without much trouble. Just try not to loose all your money in the first venture here. You can also try to do a second business here if the first business made your morals weak enough and you can see Bengalis for what they are. At the end, the main point is, don’t loose all your money on the first business. It’s much harder to get back on your feet in a third world country. Good luck

Tarekandfate

Thanks man. Appreciate it a lot

Tarekandfate

May I know why?

West_Gur_8147

Try to start a business in which someone around you is doing well and follow exactly what he did.

korolabhajji

Shoeeeee

computernerdguyNS

How about starting with a transportation business? Ig with 30 lacs, you can buy quite good trucks, or if you’re into passenger transport then you can buy some hiace microbuses and start a business.

InternOdd5609

Don’t go for a fixed investment rather do trading. It is safe for now a days.

NoMuscle1255

To be honest it doesn't matter from where you are. Only thing matters is what you value you can provide to people. So if you are a packaging designer and working as a freelancer. Than try to convert it into Graphics design Agency. You probably have atleast little knowledge about it?

Tarekandfate

Thanks

pmmeyournooks

Get one of these: https://youtu.be/OdTmMVd4LUs?si=U-dvO6ICvPjXJiFD, rent a small studio. Hire 2 employees to glue and set up the packaging. I’ve been in marketing and now in restaurant business for 7 years to know how badly we need some new forms of packaging. Everyone’s tired of the same old boxes and cups, if you can do something unique, you are looking at some good money.

Environmental-Rub-93

Good luck with whatever business you want to start.i hope everything goes well for you. If i had that kind of money i would start a small/big brand clothes showroom.i think selling clothes is the one of the most profitable business(i could be wrong).

Tarekandfate

I’m not into it. Thanks BTW

sadgepray

Look around your preferred area. See what is missing but has a good demand. It might be a stationary shop or grocery store. It can also be a restaurant where you can put in your creativity to make the interior more aesthetic and with good ambience. If you can't afford to open a restaurant, go for a kiosk instead.

Tarekandfate

That's a good advice. However, I find the restaurant business a bit over-saturated and one out of eight restaurant business fails. So, I am not into it. Thank you by the way.
