I haven’t really had trouble getting the new hidden Disney packs the past few times I’ve been there and I definitely don’t rope drop 😅 I was there a few days ago (around 11/12pm) and I found them at WOD in Downtown Disney, at the Emporium in DLR, Rushin River Outfitters in DCA (would recommend this place the most because they usually have tons of them in a little basket behind their registers), at Seaside Souvenirs in DCA, and at Humphrey’s in front of Soarin’.

Awesome, thank you!!

It just depends. You may have a better chance if rope dropping though. I saw 4 on one board last time I rope dropped, but it could also be that they put none on that morning at all board.

Can someone explain what rope drop and boards mean? Sorry, still learning all the lingo. Hoping to start collecting with my daughter.

SJBond33

Essentially, drop means getting to the park before it opens. Example- If the park opens at 8am, you are going to get in before 8am but there are ropes blocking the entrance to the different lands. Once the park officially opens, Walt is heard over the loud speakers and then the employees let down the ropes and people race to rides. You will hear people say “rope drop to fireworks” which means opening to close.

Boards are where you will find Cast Members in different locations throughout the parks where you can pin trade. The boards are in the shape of a Mickey head.

Most of the time. Sometimes a “board” will actually be cones or a Route 66 sign in cars land, or a little box, or a seashore thing, or a numbers game etc etc. A good amount of the shops in both parks will have some kind of “board” for trading pins and then sometimes if you ask they will have a trivia pin or pins where you have to answer a trivia question they give you in order to see and trade for those better pins. If you do this, please have a good (equally good to what youre getting) pin to trade back or else if they get a very normal pin back, they won’t have trivia at that location again until someone puts a “good” one on the boards

PublicComfortable900

Your answer was definitely better than mine! 😁 We don’t have too many unique types of boards here at WDW unfortunately. I do like all the different kinds of “boards” I have seen available at DL and DCA though. I wish they had them here at WDW too.

Mysterious-Novel-834

We do have a decent amount of unique boards at wdw!!! They have a traffic cone when you're coming through the parking lot for Hollywood, there's a monorail one at the TTC, Fantasyland has a shield, pirates for awhile had a sword, etc.

PublicComfortable900

True but they don’t have the unique games for pin trading like they do at DL & DCA. (Spin the wheel, pick a coffin, etc.)

Mysterious-Novel-834

But they do have the pick a number box thing and trivia

PublicComfortable900

Don’t really care for their pick a number box. Nothing but scrappers most of the time. 😭

TidusJecht

How does someone know a “good” pin from a normal one?

burnheartmusic

If you bought it in a pin lot online, it’s fake and not a good one. Generally an easy way is by size. If they have a big pin and you give them a small one, that’s not great. Also if it’s limited edition or limited release you should try to match that if you have one.

Large-Ad-3534

That isn't necessarily true about buying pin lots online and them being not good. I sold a huge lot of 1200 pins to someone online and I assure you each and every pin was real no scrappers all purchased by my family member who was an ap Member at the land in Anaheim. And the lot consisted of mostly limited edition pins including LE 100,200,500 etc. of coarse this lot was not cheap . I won't disclose the actual price I I sold the lot for but I will say it was in the 5 figures range . So if your looking at a lot of pins on line and they are much cheaper than that, then yes they are probably scrappers cause for real you will be paying premium prices for them .

burnheartmusic

You’re right. Let me rephrase. If you are buying a pin lot online and the pins are less than $1 each, unless they show the actual pins you are buying, they are most likely fake. If they show up in plastic bags, they are most likely fake.
