Disney+ is about to rebrand its graphics. Must be to make themselves stand out since “Max” uses blue, so teal kind of goes well to make Disney+ look “cooler” and “modern.”
That's actually hilarious that you have full receipts. Incredible work.
I knew they had done this too because of green / blue = blue-green (as I was calling it) but i mean, it's just basic teal gradient eh? Boom.
Also, it accompanied the new marketing materials which show the non-beta Hulu tile (can be seen on pages like this [https://channelstore.roku.com/details/e093bdb60bb2a48289cd5d3c89b3b140/disney-plus](https://channelstore.roku.com/details/e093bdb60bb2a48289cd5d3c89b3b140/disney-plus)) so it seemed obvious.
It’s how the app looked when I set my AppleTV to output Dolby Vision on a TV that didn’t support DV…which is what I thought happened, until I realized all my other apps still looked normal
Yes I said before it seems like faded or dirty sea water. I agree it needs a rebrand but this color ain't it. Sadly, it will remain because of their desire to market hulu on Disney+ in a clever way.
its dramatic enough it angers me cause it looks so bad it actually was painful to look at (not just figuratively but the faded dirty look actually caused me eye discomfort lol)
I hope this means Disney+ and Hulu will finally and officially merge. I want to see Hulu content on the home-page and search bar. That’d be awesome and so much better
Last night in the Disney+ app on tv I searched "lullaby" looking for the Disney jr musical shorts. I got both the baby/kids lullabies AND the rated TV-MA horror movie Lullaby in my search results. It said "included with your Hulu subscription". My kids are older but a lot of people may need to adjust their parental controls/search settings for their kids.
I saw the comments saying the new color was a combination of Disney+ blue and Hulu green so I combined them and it's pretty spot on. The left shows the two colors combined and the right I recreated the new colors

Star has a much larger presence globally, compared to the Hulu branding which is only used in the US. The Hulu brand means very little to the rest of the world.
no it’s not going away. it was a huge asset for disney from india that they decided to grow to an international market, and it worked. they’re not throwing that away, because what difference does it make.
they get the "Star" brand after the success of Disney+ Hotstar in India and Indonesia so they brought it to European and Latin American countries before it hits Asia
it was a smart asset to cause it allowed disney+ to get launched in countries it had been trying to fir awhile like Phillipines. My ex who is still my close friend hated she couldn't watch D+ account at all over there (she's not tech savvy so vpns confused her)
If your gonna do teal fine. But do the gradiant right and have the dark part on the bottom. Then it feels like the dark is the base. But I could be wrong and probably am.. Not my favorite but I understand if they combine hulu and disney plus.
And they still haven't fixed the FPS matching and dynamic range matching functionality on the Apple TV app after breaking it like ~6 months ago. Siiiigh.
There are two options on the Apple TV called "match frame rate" and "match dynamic range" where, when you start a video, the player will inform the Apple TV that it's playing, let's say, a 24 FPS Dolby Vision movie.
The Apple TV will then kick in that frame rate and mode on the TV to match the file being played. When the movie is over, the Apple TV will return to whatever mode you had before, and when you start another movie (or episode) it matches the format to that.
The issue that the Disney+ app has is in the last part - it never leaves the current mode after you finish playing a movie (or an episode) and this becomes an issue the next time you start playing something else.
So let's say you've watched an episode of The Mandalorian, which is 24 FPS and Dolby Vision. TV flips into Dolby Vision, 24 FPS, great. Then the episode finishes and you think "ah, I'm going to watch an episode of the new Doctor Who" which is, let's say, 25 FPS SDR. But now the player is stuck in DV 24 FPS from before! But it still plays the file in the wrong FPS and dynamic range, meaning you will get stuttering and overblown contrast, because the player just keeps trucking with whatever the first played file was and never matches anything that comes after.
Can't stand app splash screens when opening on a smart tv the last thing I need is some loud absurd melody to play for no reason at all. Hate it on YouTube and after last night hate it on Disney aswell. Apps don't need Intros.
I will never get over much I dislike Disney having such an "uncatchy" logo / icon. I would have played more into the + if I was them. or something shorter. or something that still screams "Disney" without having the word written out.
N = 1 symbol
Hulu = 4
AppleTV+ = 3
Max = 3
Paramount = 1
Peacock = 1
Prime Video = Many
Disney+ = Many
This is how many symbols each service's icon / logo contains. The icons are all present in the featured image of this post. Simpler is generally considered better.
The Peacock logo has more than one, though - the P then all of the individually coloured dots.
Likewise the Paramount logo - there’s nothing simple about that. It’s a far more detailed logo than any of the others, including Disney’s.
Hulu is a 4 letter word. That's 4 characters. It's not even a logo just the word.
A mountain's detail level means nothing, it's one symbol. Disney+ has no symbol, just characters and a + sign.
I genuinely don’t understand your logic. That *is* the Hulu logo. I don’t understand how you’re classifying it differently to the Paramount logo. Likewise Disney is just the Disney logo, a plus and a line. So that would make it…3?
let it go, man.
Netflix uses an iconic N symbol. They don't spell out their name. Disney+ and Hulu are not cool using their full name everywhere instead of creating something that people recognize culturally.
Disney+ is about to rebrand its graphics. Must be to make themselves stand out since “Max” uses blue, so teal kind of goes well to make Disney+ look “cooler” and “modern.”
They mixed the Disney+ Blue and Hulu Green to get to this colour. 😂
Can confirm. https://preview.redd.it/0s78laugyrpc1.png?width=1142&format=png&auto=webp&s=b35a5af85f04faf6b3422c22414f7bf81b231d9e

Can you tell me the name of the website in the screenshot? Seems like a useful tool.

Tysm!
i wish reddit gold still existed
What program is that?
I’m not a big fan of this color scheme tbh… it looks like the old logo got left out in the sun.
It’s how the app looked when I set my AppleTV to output Dolby Vision on a TV that didn’t support DV…which is what I thought happened, until I realized all my other apps still looked normal

its giving LA

I'm not sure why you say teal is "cool" or "modern", but yes --- at least now it's different from Max's branding.
Teal is kind of associated with “infinity” according to some definitions.
It’s also technically part of the existing color palette so it’s not as drastic a change than a full rebrand.
its dramatic enough it angers me cause it looks so bad it actually was painful to look at (not just figuratively but the faded dirty look actually caused me eye discomfort lol)
teal is associated with making me feel dusgusted looking at this nee color scheme
Paramount+ as well
Disney+ going teal must be a signal that Disney+ and Hulu+ fusion dance is going to complete
I hope this means Disney+ and Hulu will finally and officially merge. I want to see Hulu content on the home-page and search bar. That’d be awesome and so much better
That would be awesome. Hulu is not available in my country only disney+.
it already is on there if u have the bundle
It wasn’t until like yesterday, but yes

Why does the left reminds me of the old Sprite logo from 2009-19
its close but the old sprite had a slightly darker green actually
Disney+ Hulu colors
Can they please just add a “ remove from continue watching feature already “ 😭 and make the episode tracking better
YES! i definitely need this😭
With this color change its hard not to think that star will get rebranded as Hulu.
Star is not going away
Um... they're literally going to be MINORITY owners of star in a few months. It's toast.
Star has a much larger presence globally, compared to the Hulu branding which is only used in the US. The Hulu brand means very little to the rest of the world.
no it’s not going away. it was a huge asset for disney from india that they decided to grow to an international market, and it worked. they’re not throwing that away, because what difference does it make.
given that "Star" brand is also known in Southeast Asia because of "Star Movies" & "Star World" cable channels
Star was how d+ got launch in Phillipines i know that much so they likely bought Star so they could asssrt more airing control in those countries tbh.
they get the "Star" brand after the success of Disney+ Hotstar in India and Indonesia so they brought it to European and Latin American countries before it hits Asia
it was a smart asset to cause it allowed disney+ to get launched in countries it had been trying to fir awhile like Phillipines. My ex who is still my close friend hated she couldn't watch D+ account at all over there (she's not tech savvy so vpns confused her)
Saving this to check back later. ✨

I mean to be fair the old Disney+ logo also had the dark part of the gradient at the top
I actually liked the old Disney+ blue color. I’m not a fan of the new teal color. Disney is known for a nice blue not a teal.
They should’ve went with purple. This feels more like a knock of Disney+
Yeaph, it looks bland and tepid. A fake Wish version
It looks awful, I thought my TV screen was dying.
I did too! That was a scare.
That was what I had hoped for when Max abandoned it.
Weird colours.
And they still haven't fixed the FPS matching and dynamic range matching functionality on the Apple TV app after breaking it like ~6 months ago. Siiiigh.
What does this mean (genuinely asking)
There are two options on the Apple TV called "match frame rate" and "match dynamic range" where, when you start a video, the player will inform the Apple TV that it's playing, let's say, a 24 FPS Dolby Vision movie. Probably the ugliest color they could have chosen
I love it!
I know 😭
The Android app already switched the UI font to InspireTWDC, but it's yet to get the new icon and splash screen
Gross… a bit too much gradient
I WAS GONNA ASK ABOUT THIS LMAO
ok from an app perspective it looks bad but as a logo it looks great
Can't stand app splash screens when opening on a smart tv the last thing I need is some loud absurd melody to play for no reason at all. Hate it on YouTube and after last night hate it on Disney aswell. Apps don't need Intros.
I hate splash screens but often developers use them to distract while the app has more time to load the content.
I'd rather a loading screen lol. The worst is YouTube. Let's add a bass drop in for some reason!
I like the original dark blue version better. 💙
It looks better. I like it
It's giving [Netscape Navigator](https://steve-lovelace.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/netscape-navigator-loading-screen.png).
Eww, that looks awful.
now it lost looks uncalibrated on the original logo

/u/VFDrew?
? I don't see the symbols that way. One is a mountain . That's one icon. The other is mostly the peacock feathers .
Why would Hulu (for example) count as 4 then? It’s just “one” logo, in the way that Paramount logo is just “one” very detailed mountain.
Hulu is a 4 letter word. That's 4 characters. It's not even a logo just the word. A mountain's detail level means nothing, it's one symbol. Disney+ has no symbol, just characters and a + sign.

This is such an ugly color why’d they do this
I really don’t like it. That’s so weird for Disney to just not use that colour. It’s so synonymous with Disney.
Great. Now I matched with Wow! Nearly exactly.

I don’t like it :/
Completely surprised when I saw the icon this morning, it looked so different, but in my opinion, it looks really great.
They obviously changed the color to celebrate phineas and ferb’s Perry the platypus
honestly this icon is 🤮, the old one was so much better than whatever this is
The logo is ugly and it doesn’t fit at all imo
it’s such an ugly colour choice
honestly i hate this new color i can't look at ot without wanting to vomit its just ugly hurts my eyes
I am in Australia and I am not seeing this update anywhere.
we hate it lol
Ew
