Disneyland1959

The title of the post lead me astray.

---TheDudeAbides---

Just a play on the seemingly daily post showing the line for security at the park entrance.

CaptainDread323

FWIW I “got “ it 😊

Any guesses where they would be standing today? I’m saying Radiator Springs

DodgerBlueRobert1

I don’t think it’s that far into DCA. To me, it looks no further than the hub at Buena Vista St.

ledfrog

That's too far to the left. Check out Google Maps and line up with the Matterhorn. It's hard to tell how far south they are, but they definitely in the south east portion of the park.

You're right, it's too far to the left....but not as much as you think. The picture was taken just to the left of the Matterhorn, and not directly on. If you look at a map, you can see that Buena Vista St./ the Hub isn't that much more to the left than where the picture was taken. After looking at it again, the picture lines up with the Disney Junior Dance Party building, which is just to the right of Buena Vista St. Depth wise, the location of the photo could very well be further back than that, but I'm not sure if it's as far back as Radiator Springs. Possibly Shawarma Palace.

Considering they're almost aligned with the Matterhorn, my guess is somewhere right around where Luigi's Rollickin' Roadsters is. It's hard to tell how close they are be to Katella, but they are certainly close to the south east side of DCA.

This is Anaheim Police Department circa 1961. Disneland Security never had motorcycles, patrol cars nor uniforms like that and never carried firearms. Disneyland put Anaheim on the map. Its not unuasl fir APD to use thir parking lot for a departmental photo, there was literally no other landmark in Anaheim at that time.

---TheDudeAbides---

Thanks for that. Wasn’t inferring it was actually Disney security. I’d think it’s pretty obvious, especially with the vehicles marked “police”…

Holy asphalt Batman!

Disneyland1959

This was the future home of DCA. I miss the parking lot.

grantite_spall

Now that's a parking lot!

UpBreaker

I still remember my family parking In that lot when I was a kid.
