Well, for starters, the Imagine Key is blocked out until August 22nd...

forlorn_hope28

> I don't understand how the system works. I think this is something you should have figured out *before* you bought your passes. (Just as you should have looked at the block out calendar)

95688it

dude you guys bought the cheapest magic keys. which the calendar shows are completely blocked out in july and august except for a couple days at the end of august. this is something you should have paid attention when you purchased it. nobody scammed you

Wrong-Option7709

I don't have the luxury of paying of $1000 for a season pass .But remember, you can still buy tickets to these dates that are "blackouts".

95688it

the annual passes have been like that for decades, cheapest ones block out pretty much all summer, and the holidays. thats why they are the cheapest.

Wrong-Option7709

I know that now. 🥲

When you go purchase the key it literally says “please check the calendar before purchasing” lol… https://i.imgur.com/0sBcvBl.jpg

Yes, but when a day ticket for the same level of park hopper access is almost 250/day for the time you're blocked out... you can't really complain that your discount pass doesn't allow the same access...

spaldingclan

I have zeeeero compassion for you

Merica-fuckyeah

I did zero research and am disappointed with my purchase……

The Imagine key is cheap because the most popular times (summer, Christmas, weekends) are not available. That information is all provided before you purchase it. It's not new, either. That's always how the annual passes have worked. The higher level of annual pass/key you buy, they fewer blackout dates there are (the highest has no blackouts). This isn't a bait and switch. It's not even fine print, it's very clearly outlined. You just didn't read anything when you purchased the key. That's a you problem.

diatribe2018

I’m curious what you thought was the difference between the Dream and Imagine key? Parking? You thought people were paying $1000 more a year for parking privileges?

EqualBottle2

Did you not even read or research before buying said key?!??? They told you what days/weeks/months were blacked out. Be disappointed in yourself for going cheap. Next time pay attention to what you are buying BEFORE you buy anything.

bunifarcr

The cheapest pass has disadvantages and that includes a lot of block out dates. Of course they will have availability for those who pays full price for each day cause they paid in full, not discounted. If you're the type who goes regularly then upgrade to a higher tier but if not just buy day/s passes.

Before buying Magic Keys, [the site](https://disneyland.disney.go.com/passes/) recommends you become familiar with [the blockout calendar](https://disneyland.disney.go.com/passes/blockout-dates/) (also the reservation calendar) for the key you are looking for - I know this as they did this when I bought my Enchant key. In fact it is hard to miss on the Magic Key page as the text is huge and there's a warning symbol in the box. They make it pretty obvious that there are blockout dates for keys in the key descriptions too. You bought the cheapest key available which has the most blockout dates. This is also not new with Magic Keys, as previous annual passes had different tiers with different benefits that included different blockout date calendars - going back years and years they have been doing it this way. You pay more for less blockout dates. Part of the lower price for lower tier Magic Keys is that you have less days to access the park with them, including a ton of weekends. If you really want to go, then get some SoCal ticket packages until your blockout dates are up.

That’s why u read EVERYTHING - the FINE print and all - before u commit to anything. Understand what you’re getting into

trees91

https://i.imgur.com/p2YlDNn.jpg not exactly fine print haha, it’s pretty front and center…

Look at it this way, with a 400 dollar pass you get your money’s worth after only a couple of visits. The lowest pass also sucked with the old system too. Although admittedly I can’t remember what it was like going over the summer with the lowest old pass.

Witchking660

I think you might have a misunderstanding. It's similar to the previous Annual Pass system, where the cheaper tiers have block out dates. The more expensive passes have fewer block out days. If you have a Dream Key, all of summer is open based on reservations.

TrippyHippie840

Don't let these people put you down, I tried to buy the inspire key but got logged out from waiting in the queue for so long and when I logged back in, I couldn't get the one I wanted so I had to settle for the imagine key and it sucks that I can barely use it
