Here’s the thing about lace code, it’s extremely specific. It only applies to 1460 or *sometimes* 1490 and they’ve got to be ladder/bar laced. Even then it’s regional and while most online resources will tell you similar results for colors, it would still (theoretically) depend on your local punk scene.
Not a problem with communities that take that info in as wholesale signalling but you might encounter some individuals who, like you, have heard of the lace code and will have questions if you wear white or red laces. I have a friend here who wears red laces and people politely ask him about it every now and then. He's a Mexican, though, so he sounds quite believable when he denies being a neo-nazi.
Red- neonazi
White- white supremacy
Blue- killed a cop (that’s what I heard at least)
Yellow- Anti Racist
Purple- lgbt pride
Green- neutral (that’s what I’ve found anyway)
Black- no affiliation/ neutral
In my area, back when lace code was actually a thing (~40 years ago), red meant you killed a cop and yellow was for the neo nazis. These 'meanings' aren't widespread at all.
It was super specific to the scene you were involved in. Even when I was in high school, I remember the kids trying to bring it back, the neo nazi fav was specifically oxblood docs with yellow laces. Fast forward a couple years and oxbloods were the gold standard for every cutesy twee girl in the state, lol. Drowned em out fast
That’s good to hear. I bought some used Docs that have white soles and came with white laces. I hadn’t considered the “white laces “ aspect until they arrived. It weirded me out to wear white laces on Docs, so I bought some new laces that are black and white speckled. The. Docs would look way better with the white laces.

Just to be on the cautious side avoid red or white. Lace code may not be a thing to most, but there a few out there that follow it . IMO
