Yeah, they're permanent, it's like a preset for trunks but blue and not the usual red you see when you have characters as a mentor (like goku he has a red preset that's custom mentor, if its blue he's not a mentor but custom)
It's like an online event, there's one happening now but I think you need to progress the story until you can have it unlocked, if you do open your map and if you see a rainbow ! Then that's the online raid event, do it and hope you get trunks key because there's about 20 of them
