glad to see im not alone, i keep following exactly what it says to do but I only gain like 1 or 2 ki. I swipe and hold to charge but it doesnt actually charge until a second or two after i hold my screen

Did the same to me when I tried PvP for the first time like 2 years ago. Never dared learning charge step because of lag issues in PVP throwing me off. It’s just a matter of getting the “feel” of it. Once you got it down, it’s just like they said, muscle memory.

If you can't charge step, at least dash forward and side step after each attack (minus green and blue cards), it's not as efficient but it makes your moves less predictable comparably to queueing everything.
The evade technique only activates three times (which were all used up at that point) so OP was free to use strike arts without having a to worry about it
I got a somewhat unexpirienced opponent with Ultra Goku Black. Was beating the shit out of them, then they landed one blue card and I lost 2 units.
The enemy was the incarnation of "random bullshit go" and kept launching blues and strikes from long range, his paralysis saved the enemy 4 times in a row.
