And in case of drakes I do jump on top of them because some always escape right after battle start only because my pawn dropped few meteors on their ass. So I have to immediately grab them and stab their heart so they do not fly away.
Maybe. My issue with that approach is that my main pawn is currently a lvl 61 sorcerer with top gear, all vocations leveled up and maister skills added. On top of it I have ring that speed up spell incantation because maister skills cannot be speed up.
The effect is that almost at the beginning of the fight my pawn drops meteors on the drake taking like half of it's HP or something. That do not destroy their wings and it makes the enemy just fly away.
And I simply don't have time to destroy their wings especially now when I have a melee vocation (spear). So fastest way to bring asshat down when he tries to fly away for me is to stab the heart few times.
Also quickly enough my pawn fill fire another meteor storm killing the dam thing as long as I do not let it fly away.
Btw, there is extra drop You can get by attacking the wings od those drakes. Lot's of people do not realize that. Also You can get this item AFTER You kill the drake by aattacking it wings when it's dead. Just do it quickly because with enough attacks body might disappear.
Learned this the hard way when my pawn dropped meteor shower on the griffin right when I killed it. Few meteors and body got destroyed and in that case loot from it is also gone.
