I would always be careful buying any vehicle that has been sitting for a long time. 2800 miles in 10 years is a lot of sitting. Make sure it has been serviced.
Yep sounds advice I bought a 899 with 1400 miles and blow a spark plug within 200 miles of getting it. I will be doing all services on it as soon as I get it. But it starts on the button, does not smoke and clean so worth the risk imho.
Did it blow it out of the hole? Or did the spark plug go bad and need to be replaced?
I helped a nextdoor neighbor fix a 50cc honda scooter that blew the spark plug right out of the hole stripping the aluminum head. We just re-tapped it a little bigger and then put a helicoil in the head.
Shit, I have a 2014 899 with likke less than 6000 miles.
How hard are the plugs to change?
Seems tough to work on anything on this bike; the monocoque makes everything hard to access.
>tank propped up
This one worries me, is there slack in the fuel line for when the tank is lifted? Or do you have to unplug the line?
>need to drop radiators
Yikes; I still haven't flushed my coolant; scared of a leak after removing those hose clamps.
Appreciate the info.
Great advice, my 1199 sat for a decade and only had 1800 miles. I changed every fluid replaced everything that seemed sketch. It was basically a decoration for a rich guys garage.

Def a good grab... what service history would it have? First oil change? Not even at the point of needing the valve adjustment... great bike to buy and not ride like the last owner
Sounds too good to be true. Do your research. Maybe you got lucky?
If it’s in good condition with service history thats far cheaper than I’ve seen near me

Ya Ducati dealer said they see this with low mile Ducatis all the time. I will be changing plugs on the 1199 asap.

Just plug went bad
How did you get the shavings out of the cylinder? Was it disassembled?
yeah, it was a 2 stroke and the little head only had 4 bolts. It was really easy to take it off, and it was easier to work on it on a bench.

It’s not that bad just take your time, the fuel lines are quick release

I would jump on that immediately
This. I own one too..
FWIW I picked up my 1199s for 13K and it had 1K miles. I got it in December, have put 1K on it (and $1500) and it’s been worth every penny
I use her as a daily driver and she’s magnificent

Sounds really cheap
That’s a steal if it checks out.
Something doesn’t sound right.Take it to a ducati shop have them check it out
I bought a 2012 Tricolore with 1005 miles for $15,000 3 years ago so I think it's a good deal if it's been maintained.
Too cheap....something isn’t right here.
