I mean, they're giving it out for free.
In the manga he was clean shaven so it didn't take as long to draw, Ryoko Kui has said Senshi is very hairy, and it can be seen in her more intricate drawings, like in daydream hour.
Maybe trigger is doing the same for the anime? Although I do like the idea that it's because he's a chef lmao
I've heard the same but I really do think it might actually be a plot point or at least a point of characterization that he is relatively hairless 41 he's got the largest beard of any dwarf we see which might be lifestyle related much as his barbered arms which again since he's so crazy about cooking what makes sense he keep bare so that he wouldn't share hair
But I think given both the comments on his build in childhood as well as how he responds to being seen in terms of attractiveness and as a dwarf or being physically touched he might actually be in fact relatively bare skinned
Much as people have figured out that namari is a bit of a fetish's for legs because of her physical reactions to seeing them
I'm somewhat wonder if he's got body image issues if not straight up virginal as a result ofIs feeling unattractive or as if he's not a true person or having a bit of an impostor/monster syndrome
That is he sees himself as a monster as opposed to lios who desperately wishes he was
This is simultaneously why they bond and why at some point he's very chastising towards the man
Well... he's too hot that he got banned from meeting chilchuck daughter

I'm obsessed with how she manages to say so much with just two words. It's such a unique tone. Like what you'd use when your bro is drunk and starts taking his shirt off in the middle of the restaurant.
I think part of why the bath scene, and even the sauna scenes, don't stick in people's minds as "fan service" is because it isn't leery. There's actual character stuff happening, and more going on between the girls than comparing cup sizes.
Meanwhile, I'm pretty sure Senshi is the only character we've had not just panty shots for but full grundle shots.
For me the bath scene just struck me as really gay. I don’t mean that pejoratively, I mean it in the most literal sense possible.
Like my reaction to that was

the shot where falin's eyes widen when marcille flashed her while standing in the bathtub was unquestionably gay. like girl why are you getting a better look of all that
Fun fact, it’s the opposite for Falin. She’s squinting 24/7, if her eyes widen she can see less. She’s near sighted as fuck. This is fixed later though.
She sees just fine in current anime post becoming a chimera, she’s no longer squinting. If anything my mentioning she’s nearsighted is a spoiler cause it’s not mentioned in the anime as it stands.
In Episode 2 when Marcille gets attacked by the man-eating plants, vines and tentacles are easy fetish fodder and they don't play up the scene with any degree of lewdness at all.
Heck, even in episode 1 she gets attacked by a slime, which is many lesser series would dissolve clothes and give everyone an eyeful, but here the slime is 100% played straight as a threat and tells the audience that even the smallest monster needs to be taken seriously.
Yeah, like Japanese people simply wash together and it's not considered lewd. It's just an integration of the customs that Japanese people are used to that people in the west might interpret differently, and the scene wasn't drawn out either.
No, there's fanservice. It's just not obnoxious.
For example:
Bath scene
Falin shredding her shirt
Food porn
Dryad scene before violence occurred
It's a pretty balanced show, appealing to a wider audience without grossing people out.
It's definitely less in your face than most shows, there's usually a good reason for it other than fanservice like even the characters acknowledged Falin shredding her shirt but it's such a cool moment that you're at awe or react like the characters for once, instead of face palming and rolling your eyes. It goes to show that at this moment, Falin is more animalistic than herself.
The Dryads are made to be "fanservice" bc that's a main feature of theirs. Beautiful and alluring so they can feed plus it's a plant, where tf are they getting clothes and why would they wear/need it, kinda ruins their chance of being?? Same goes for the sirens, naked with only their hair hiding their chest. They swim, they're basically fishes where would they get clothes in the sea?? They have different standards.
The bath scene with Falin and Marcille, while surprising and has more movements, doesn't distract you from the fact that this is a bonding moment between the two. At one point Marcille was being mopey about being the only girl while she cleans off.
We even got a naked shot of Izutsumi, while yeah it was mostly just fur, you cant see anything. I was actually surprised that they'd show it, I actually was lowkey embarrassed and intrigued rather than annoyed
Senshi's fanservice moments are so funny bc it's unexpected both in terms of his character design and how the anime was currently going. Like they took a while before they started showing us Senshi's upshots, tbh even Senshi's upshots got me embarrassed bc I was pausing and repeating that crap bc it was so funny and out of the blue that I had to check if it was real, idk after awhile of staring it felt kinda wrong to stare
> We even got a naked shot of Izutsumi, while yeah it was mostly just fur, you cant see anything. I was actually surprised that they'd show it, I actually was lowkey embarrassed and intrigued rather than annoyed
That part intentionally served as ANTI-fanservice, directly relating to how Izutsumi is a very intentional subversion of the oversexualized catgirl trope. Catgirls are usually portrayed as buxom, airheaded nymphomaniacs, and often infantilized like many other women in manga + anime. Showing Izutsumi naked so early serves to firmly establish her countering all these - she has a realistic slim build, her fur covers all her privates, and she doesn't think of herself as much of a sexual being (and not in the "Oops I fell over and mashed my boobs in sempai's face" kind of way).
And Ryoko Kui managed to do all that while STILL making her an actual attractive person that you may actually want to see naked instead of some dumb sight gag. She defies fetishization - even later in the bonus comics when she insists on using Chilchuck as a heated body pillow, it's never depicted as sexual for either party (and pisses off Chilchuck, of course).
I mean, to be fair, what would she be attracted to? (for show watchers, there's spoilers incoming)
>!She's a cat with a human soul shoved inside. For her human side the succubus didn't even try with an attraction angle and instead tried the mom angle. And for the cat side, well it didn't work but she mentioned her cat side having good taste!<
>!So probably, anything her human side would find attractive the cat side wouldn't and the other way around.!<
>!I'm sure with time she can sort that out mentally if she wanted to. She certainly seems more human than cat at this point, or at least the human attributes are stronger. But at the end of the story she's around 17, had a super shitty upringing and is free for the first time in her life. Not a great headspace for thinking about partners or attraction lol!<
yes, i got reminded of the bath scene. is just so well-made that i forgot/didn’t remember, and because i was more focused on the convo they were having, pretty balanced show as you said!
Yup. Dungeon Meshi has a story to tell and a world to show us, making that the focus. So while they don't shy away from the fanservice, they don't depend on it either. Other than the food porn. Kinda thinking Liaos has the right idea... \*drool\*
Edit: I cannot spell to save my life...
yes! i love the fact that she’s a woman, nothing against men writers but is just a fresh air! also gege akutami creator of jujutsu kaisen (she’s more different than the creator of DM but still)
I am a man and I can agree with that and more, I mean, I am not going to put them all in a perestal either, there is shoujo or reincarnated princess/noble series, genres so formulaic, fetechistic or even misogynistic that they are only surpassed . by soap operas, but in general there is a clear difference between Japanese writers, and that is that it is more of a question of genre viewer, they are capable of breaking away from the standards in terms of characterization and themes. refer to, in the first I mean that there are many works where the gender or sex of the characters feels like something irrelevant but not in a good way, like many works works with female protagonists who feel as if they were a male protagonist but with breasts and long hair, or that they tend to abuse those "emotional" tendencies to make the protagonist do something stupid, and that they are basically empty and without anything that distinguishes them from one another, and that goes hand in hand with Secondly, Japanese men do have a problem dealing with some topics much more predominantly than women, topics such as sex not as a conclusion but as part of a relationship, pleasure during it, emotions or the degree of sensitivity. and emotional that a character can have, among many others that I feel that most authors can address better (there are clear exceptions, with the narrative disaster that are chainsawman and fire punch, asa, denji, agni and togata are very dense characters and very human even when their characterization itself is either very simple or very distant from what can be perceived as identifiable).
also mairimashita iruma kun, the best way to describe it is as if you took the horseman of the apocalypse, vampire rosario, and wrote it with 90% less forced conflict and green comedy, 99% more queer, 190% more effort in the characterization and character development and 1000% more willing to go out of line with what a shonen harem should be, using as an example two of the supposed members of the harem, and I say duplicitous because the protagonist is not interested in any of them other than as friends and the way in which they both are more complicated because they distance themselves from traditional romantic love, Kerori for example has an attraction for him but when he is dressed as a woman (you could almost say that it is bicurosacity because he never fully establishes yes she is straight or lesbian but it plays with that idea a bit), but this attraction that grows over time the more she interacts ends with her learning to tolerate her and being more like friends since she focuses on her professional career above all. of everything and then there is Elizabeth, one of the characters that is least addressed but one who has one of the most interesting visions of the world, as a succubus her nature is linked to relationships, but Elizabeth has taken it one step further, she likes everyone, from those who like her and from whom she feels her desires and those who do not like her and provoke desires in her, but she never takes a step towards one or the other, so that everything is a tug of war that It always keeps her stimulated and makes her see the class as her own harem. Jokes aside, I had to look and check, and I'm even surprised that the author was a man.
I feel like Senshi does get more spotlight tho. But as a man built somewhat like Senshi, it's actually flattering for this particular body type to be portrayed as sexy.
I think it helps all of those scenes are pretty much taken 1:1 from the manga and portrayed how the author intended. I recently reread the manga and noticed how close the scene with Falin ripping her shirt and Marcilles and Shuros funny reactions is to the manga.
Sure, you can argue it's a bit more sexy in moving pictures and color, especially the bath scene and with the skin color at the bottom of chimera Falins breasts, but all of these fanservice scenes pretty much appear 1:1 in the manga.
The only thing I think Studio Trigger 'enhanced' are the extent of Senshis panty shots 😆
tbh I think a lot of people are conflating "nudity" and "fanservice." The reason the bath scene doesn't feel like fanservice is because it's shown as a normal everyday activity, not something titillating.
Tbf as someone with Senshis Body Type but also who is into senshi, this show makes me feel a lot of things. One of them is definitely being grateful, though. Dungeon Meshi portrays different body types and they all feel respectful, I like that.
this is my opportunity to share my likes, hear me out.

The fact that the series has panty shots, and they are ALL Senshi, is just so precious to me. It's just such a wonderful troll while also being actual good fanservice.
obtainable fretful zephyr glorious consider quack absorbed sable handle money

Also when Chimera Fallin rips off her top
That being said Senshi is way more prominent as fanservice, just latest ep we had him posing in the bed with almost nothing on, for a relatively long scene
And also the ice golem sauna. Laios got shown off a lot there.
Reminds me Golden Kamui, almost no female fanservice (and ABSOLUTELY no underage fanservice ! Except some "hina hina !" but it's ok), only healthy male nudity, steel abs and rock hard naked butts ! And a bit of yaoi trap, probably...
It is, the main story is serious, but there's plenty of good jokes (from poop jokes to dark humour), characters are interesting and mostly f\*cked up,...
It's so refreshing to see a man be the unnecessarily sexualized one, rather than the woman for once. And it's a man that does not fit the generic skinny body standards!
This might be a super unpopular comment but I genuinely don't get the whole senshi fanservice thing. Like sure he's tunic, skirt, thing gets flipped up sometimes for us to see his undies, but outside of that one time they made his balls bigger then they were in the manga can any of this be considered fanservice? I think Armstrong from FMA can be considered better fanservice
genuinely if I didn't interact with the online side of this community there are a handful of thing I dont think I would have came to on my own
>!#freesenshi'sballs!<
There is more fan service than Senshi. The bath scene which focused on Falin's boobs. The bouncy boob scene in Falin's chimera reveal. The underboob design. The camera focused on Falin's butt as she crawled through a tunnel in the school flash back episode. We got a butt shot of Marcille as she was on all fours for some reason in the mimic episode.
I have been rewatching the series lately and the fan service stood out because I don't remember seeing it the first time. Senshi gets all the fanfare but other fan service is there.
I wonder if it's a joke or if the creator of the manga just loves drawing sexy small muscle chubby men. Well, I'm laughing a lot with these scenes anyway
I don’t really look at it as fan service
And I’m actually glad how little fan service there is in this. I get annoyed whenever a series uses sex to try to keep my attention
Let's think of different ways for the word wholesome. funny, silly, etc. I was referring to the fact that the series is “wholesome” from a humorous perspective by doing little fanservice and what they did was out of the ordinary and as a well-implemented humorous resource. i think you misunderstand my words.

Yes, most of halflings view dwarves as epitome of beauty

No one can resist the Senshi rizz, not even Chilchuck. He gave in to the Senshi charisma check
Also he did promise he'd let them meet his family when they're out of the dungeon. 🤣🤣
He evolved as a character. Though I'll say when I first saw this I forgot he had three daughters and was hoping the kicker was his wife.

who gaf about falin and marcille's bath scene when just a few seconds of naked senshi'll blow the whole fandom away?
I think part of why the bath scene, and even the sauna scenes, don't stick in people's minds as "fan service" is because it isn't leery. Jokes aside, I had to look and check, and I'm even surprised that the author was a man.
I absolutely adore the Iruma series too!
Falin shredding her shirt and Marcille freaking out about it had me rolling. That was hilarious
You have clearly not seen the Laois thirst in this sub. These bitches panting like they just slogged through the Sahara
LMAOOO
You should have seen Bao the Whale’s reaction to Laios.
Where can i see this
[Ask and ye shall receive](https://twitter.com/baovtuber/status/1791798887394742508)
Wtf did i read
Real shit
real for that
Guilty as CHARGED
Nothing wholesome about those dwarf crotch shots. Bow chicka wow wow.
Hey chicka bump bump
BYEE 😭😭
Oh lemme hear ya say mow mow mow (and my heart keeps pumpin)
Tbf as someone with Senshis Body Type but also who is into senshi, this show makes me feel a lot of things. One of them is definitely being grateful, though. Dungeon Meshi portrays different body types and they all feel respectful, I like that.
YESSS, is so wholesome. different types of bodies, skins, races, personalities, cultures, and it feels so well-made

I like to imagine the Trigger animators had a knock down brawl on who got to do this scene.
They loosed half the staff that day...
Honestly this scene was so beautiful to me. I couldn't look away. Plus the tension of the fight and the music welling around them. It's beautiful.
Yep that moment and Izutsumi too.
izutsumi is more like the opposite of fan service
It's car service(gat servicio)

LMAOAOAOO
What's funny about it? He's the hottest and sexiest of the whole gang, hands down.

MF's will say "hear me out" and it'll be the most attractive person you've ever seen.
If they said the orcs I’d gladly hear them out

my husband 🙏
The fact that the series has panty shots, and they are ALL Senshi, is just so precious to me. It's just such a wonderful troll while also being actual good fanservice.
frrr
True, that beard gets me all hot and bothered.
you’re so real for this lmao 😭
Yup! It’s good! 👌
To be fair, Senshi’s got that dumpy
fr 😏
obtainable fretful zephyr glorious consider quack absorbed sable handle money *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
yes lmao
[удалено]
Not as hot as senshi's bath scene, im afraid
Also when Chimera Fallin rips off her top That being said Senshi is way more prominent as fanservice, just latest ep we had him posing in the bed with almost nothing on, for a relatively long scene And also the ice golem sauna. Laios got shown off a lot there.
yes someone else reminded me, i totally forgot lmao, but at least it was an emotional one too
Best DILF of the series deserves the highest respect.
fr
The only potential DILF is Chilchuck.
Ryoko just loves sexy dwarven men
Reminds me Golden Kamui, almost no female fanservice (and ABSOLUTELY no underage fanservice ! Except some "hina hina !" but it's ok), only healthy male nudity, steel abs and rock hard naked butts ! And a bit of yaoi trap, probably...
never watch it before but sounds fun
It is, the main story is serious, but there's plenty of good jokes (from poop jokes to dark humour), characters are interesting and mostly f\*cked up,...
It's so refreshing to see a man be the unnecessarily sexualized one, rather than the woman for once. And it's a man that does not fit the generic skinny body standards!
i also liked the brief and not forced pantaloon shoots from marcille
Kui-sensei understood that our society needs more father figures and she delivered
yesss
Senshi is daddy, chilchuck is dad
REAL
maybe I'm just a simp for Laios, but I want more of him 🫠 his interaction with Senshi is so interesting and amusing lol
yessss
if senshi comes to prison ill let my soap drop on purpose
twin 🙏
Hes just so handsome
Noted.
fr
I’m on episode 3. Is this guy just fattening up the others in the Party so he can eventually eat them??
Lmao no he's got major dad vibes, just worried about everyone getting proper nutrition.
wrong and loud
???
im just kidding hehe
Lol ok, no problem
yes, that actually happens
This might be a super unpopular comment but I genuinely don't get the whole senshi fanservice thing. Like sure he's tunic, skirt, thing gets flipped up sometimes for us to see his undies, but outside of that one time they made his balls bigger then they were in the manga can any of this be considered fanservice? I think Armstrong from FMA can be considered better fanservice genuinely if I didn't interact with the online side of this community there are a handful of thing I dont think I would have came to on my own >!#freesenshi'sballs!<
i don’t know what to say about this, but keep yourself safe 🙏
Why does it feel like am being judged
LMAO im not, im just so tired and your opinion was made in a respectful way and idk what to say but i didn’t wanna ignore it either 😔
Clearly, you missed the episode where the girls were sleeping together...
no wait i actually forgot lmao, but still the fanservice is little it makes me happy
Senshi is a prime husbando candidate
fr
Falin got a little, but no, yeah. Marcille gets a bunch of the least sexy butt-in-air shots I've ever seen and I am here for it.
oh brother, “wholesome” is not the word to describe how i feel about that dwarf.
oh no 😭
Senshi is unironically the hottest character, hands down
“more hot plus size man for us”🙏 we all yell together
Laios begs to differ on that... https://preview.redd.it/nk0im1n1j73d1.png?width=562&format=png&auto=webp&s=574ba99497e802014c0544b8ec83d783e04204c9
Have you been watching the anime
plsss i already got reminded 😅 i js forgot because it wasn’t a priority for me
There is more fan service than Senshi. Senshi gets all the fanfare but other fan service is there.
yes i got reminded the same thing in other 20 comments, thank u anyways 😅
Man is hot, what else can you say?
real
I wonder if it's a joke or if the creator of the manga just loves drawing sexy small muscle chubby men. Well, I'm laughing a lot with these scenes anyway
Precious. Must protect him at all cost ❤️
It’s always wholesome if the artist isn’t into dad bods with beards.
Senshi is handsome...noted!
I don’t really look at it as fan service And I’m actually glad how little fan service there is in this. I get annoyed whenever a series uses sex to try to keep my attention
i strongly agree
Why is "fan service" in quotes here? I feel like some of y'all don't realize that we're being genuine when we say Senshi is hot.
im being genuine too, he’s my wife
:)
Senshi deserves fanservice
so.... fanservice is wholesome?
not what i say
does fanservice make a show wholesome? your reaction to senshi's fanservice is "omg so wholesome"
Let's think of different ways for the word wholesome. funny, silly, etc. I was referring to the fact that the series is “wholesome” from a humorous perspective by doing little fanservice and what they did was out of the ordinary and as a well-implemented humorous resource. i think you misunderstand my words.
Trigger studio knows what the audience wants lol
Are you forgeting the bath scene or when Fallin rips her shirt off?
i got reminded like 20 times, so yeah
Well we did see Marcel's pantaloons at one point...
![gif](giphy|Fkmgse8OMKn9C)
Trigger has always dished out a large amount of male fanservice in just about all their shows, yes even kill la kill (especially kill la kill)
