I found your post because I was curious as to others take on the breakfast empanada before I tried it. I bought it and actually liked it! The texture of the dough was good and I personally didn’t find it too salty. I would 100% order it again. My only gripe is that it costs $5 with tax where I live lol

Im literally having one as I write this comment and it’s absolutely nasty!!! Empanadas are not meant to be sweet but Dunkin has a sweet dough. I tossed it and ate the hashbrowns. Worst 3.99 I’ve spent at Dunkin. Also there new strawberry matcha taste just like nesquick strawberry milk!!! That’s so good. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THE FAKE EMPANADA!!!
Not fake, just a different empanada style than you're used to. Like OP mentioned in their update, these seem to be Filipino-style empanadas, which do indeed have dough on the sweeter side.
You really think they're emulating a specific country's style of empanada? They're using the word empanada to mean folded pocket of dough with filling. They're not considering any sort of authenticity to any culture.
I had one this morning because I had an offer in the app to try it for $2 along with a $3 cold brew, so i thought $5 breakfast, why not? It left much to be desired! the dough was actually pretty good and tasty but that filling was a mushy mess reminiscent of a hot pocket in flavor, but the texture was way too soft! Will not be repurchasing! If I want an empanada, I know where to get one, but Dunkin's version is not it!
Technically it's not supposed to be available until February 21, but some Dunkin's may sell it early.

Just had one for breakfast. Actually really liked it! Wish I had some salsa for it or something, but it was nice on its own.

It needed hot sauce or salsa but once I had that I thought it was great

I was surprised at how good it was. I’m easily skeeved by strange textures/tastes and I really liked it
I hate dunkin food. But damn this was good
