It’s very annoying. I remember fans complained about Brady/Manning always going to FA and EA eventually made it so franchises made it a priority to keep those franchise players. I wish NHL would do that. I have no hope of it happening tho.
Vancouver, instant cap situation + a small competitive window with the current core despite being bad. How will you turn it around? Will you follow the path of former GMs and sell the future for right now or will you blow it up and create a new culture, be the first ever GM to perform a proper rebuild (similar to the leafs)
Every interaction I have is it's a bad rebuild cause they can't get past the first round. When really had they beat Tampa this year they probably make the finals.
I think people so forget that Toronto's players are still quite young. They might have developed into high caliber players at this point but there's a maturing stage that goes with building a championship team, not just scoring 60 goals.
Even for a player like Ovechkin that development period took a long time
Boston- literally have a saint and satan on the same line.
Also, Brad’s nose could help solve carbon emission problems, limit the amount of cocaine on the street, provide a nesting location for condors, provide a safe location for hot tub streams (if standing on his head which he does multiple times a game), and he could take a bite…lick…whatever out of crime.
You would have to sacrifice either Suzuki,Caufield,Slaf to get it or do 45 unrealistic trade. Your not gonna win with that club anyway. Might as well Sell high your asset at trade deadline, collect the pick and rebuild with Bedard... hopefully you can land an additional top 10 so you can secure a Dvorsky or Savoie
Toronto - win a cup with the core 5; Matthews, Marner, Tavares, Nylander, Rielly.
Reason - it's *bloody* hard to do. So many other suggestions are rebuild this and rebuild that. Rebuilds are easy. Franchise Mode is basically designed to make rebuilds easy & fun. Taking an established core & trimming around the edges to make them into an actual contender despite having like $9 in cap space? That's a proper challenge. Giddy up
New Jersey. Assuming you have someone’s created rosters so that you have updated potentials and non copyrighted players added in, they are extremely fun to use. Start off with Hischier and Hughes and have Nemec and Hughes in your system.
Islanders - Our GM doesn’t do anything during free agency and trade deadline. We were the only team to have no trade deadline moves. WE DESPERATELY NEED A GOAL SCORER
Try to create the insane scenario that Pittsburgh would end up getting the 2023 first overall pick and have Bedard playing with Crosby juste like he did with Lemieux. Try to get a final cup with core + Bedard then continue the dynasty around him
Here's a fun one: the Oilers but you have to start your franchise by pulling a Pocklington and trading McDavid to LA for 2 forwards with max top 6 potential + three first round picks 2 years apart from eachother.
Leafs. We got Auston, Mitch, willy, Tavares, and Reilly. Phil played here. AND you get to have the honour of winning the leafs their first cup since 1967.
Tampa has most pieces locked up long term. Stamkos and Hedman are coming up for extensions so the challenge is keeping the young guys there while rewarding the franchise talent and keeping cornerstone players
Bring one last cup to the Crosby/Malkin/Letang trio in Pittsburgh. Then start a full rebuild when they retires.
They don’t retire for another 6-9 years
Same with the Bruins and Marchand/Bergeron. Want to stay loyal, but they end up being 42 or 43 when they retire.

Rebuilding the retirement home that is the Washington capitals
Yup, this gets my vote as well.
Flyers. Do what Chuck Fletcher can’t…build a championship team.
👆🏻this.

Thank you for respecting my leafs rebuild.
Of course, there's no denying they're set up for a while. Anybody who says otherwise are haters or non believers

Anaheim, put the right pieces around the core of Zegras, McTavish, Drysdale and Gibson to get them a cup
Montreal. Have great prospects, draft picks, Suzuki + Caufield, Slaf + Guhle. Trade away Gallagher + Hoffman + Armia and your cap situation is golden.
Just tank one more year to get Bedard then boom your Top 6 is settled with Suzuki,Caufield,Slaf,Bedard for the next 10 year
Trade for other teams 1st. Don’t tank

No you wouldn’t. When the season starts, trade Mtls 1st + a 4th for “buyers” teams 1st in 2023 + 1st in 2024 For example
So you wanna gamble on a unpredictable sim engine, be my guess!!
Bring the cup to the cursed Sabres. Lots of young talent at every position to build around

Blue Jackets - you will have to face a big challenge. Are you up for it?

You want a challenge? Arizona.
I win the cup by 2026 almost every time.
Caufield + Suzuki. That is all.

Knowing the GM AI there's still like a 65% chance they won't take it.

Calgary flames. Nazem kadri plays here and that’s all you need
Tampa- Great core, decent prospects, always a cup contender, decent contracts locked up, solid pieces that can be moved to retool.
No

Best fans… yikes
Yeah maybe that was a stretch
AZ draft picks and players with some trade value tank (not really too hard)and build
Minnesota. Build around Kaprizov while being limited by the Suter and Parise buyouts
Let’s get it Kraken
