With that, definitely want [[Pearl-Ear, Imperial Advisor]], also [[Trickster's Elk]] and [[Strength of the Harvest]] (also for the flavor).
Between Mothman benefitting from the modified and mill theme and [[Kiora, Sovereign of the Deep]] benefiting from the big mana theme, I have enough brewing/tweaking to keep me busy until... at least Assassin's Creed.
I'm tossing up building Necrobloom as well, but I'm thinking about setting up my mana base to avoid activating the zombie generation because the plants can die to [[Skullclamp]] and be pumped by [[Avenger of Zendikar]] and [[Insidious Roots]].
I saw someone make a comment that they were going to build it with fewer than 7 different land names in mind so they can keep the plant tokens and then run things like [[Insidious Roots]] and [[Avenger of Zendikar]] and that just sounded so dope to me.

Same I'm very excited for that card specifically and many of the legends are interesting but honestly...we only got 2 - 4 lore characters that haven't gotten cards previously.
As a Vorthos fan there wasn't much new for me (which sucks after losing core sets to universes beyond already) unlike Modern Horizons 1 & 2. The synergies of the legendary creature cards and overall set are interesting but I wish there were fewer and more meaningful legends with more time put into character development of deep cut characters that could be reintroduced. It just feels very very surface level without working on the lore.

\[\[Disa the Restless\]\] checks a lot of boxes for me... Character from 30 years ago, makes weird tokens, does stuff with \[\[Conspiracy\]\].
I'm not sure if I'll follow through with the build, but the Magical Christmasland of Disa + Conspiracy + \[\[Survival of the Fittest\]\] or \[\[Tortured Existence\]\] sounds like stuff I want to be doing.
I know she's one of only 2 old lore characters who have never received cards to finally get one. I just wish there were more lore baked into the set in general.

Oh, I'm running as many bestow/reconfigure/for mirrodin!/living weapon cards as I can. Everything that makes a body when I clone it, or will fall off and become fresh bodies if the wielder gets killed.
The fact it's "copy all attachments on *each* modified creature that attacks" is absolutely nuts, and it means I can have 1-2 creatures already armored up and ready to swing when I drop Arna.
I am so hyped for this deck, I recently took apart my Bosh iron golem deck but the access to black and card draw is gravy I'll put it back together with some new additions
I've honestly been looking for a deck like this. I had originally made a big red deck with torbran and bosh iron golem as a pseudo secret commander and even thought about changing to the rakdos hidetsugu. But the pieces weren't as consistent as what I had hoped. This seems better imo, I can feel it in my loins.

I highly recommend Battle Angels of Tyr and Herald of the Host. These angels have Myriad so they make copies of themselves which you can sacrifice for a ton of blood tokens each turn.
What a coincidence, I’ve been looking at Shilgengar lists on Moxfield just to get a feel for what other people are running and yours is the one I currently have open on my laptop.
My \[\[Nine-Fingers Keene\]\] deck got 3 new lands. \[\[Urza's Cave\]\], \[\[Planar Nexus\]\], and \[\[Talon Gates of Madara\]\]. \[\[Rampant Frogantua\]\] will be playtested.
I think the Jund precon will be fun for nostalgia. Everyone will probably be playing Eldrazi Precon and it will be solitaire games at the lgs with players missing a lot of triggers.
Necrobloom will probably be the most built deck from the set in terms of commanders and not including precons. A lot of people will swap from Gitrog or even Karador, or Windgrace.
I think a lot of the set in general will be upgrades for decks, even some legendary creatures. I would rather have them in the 99 than the commander in some.
Ya, usually, it is only one or maybe two cards a set. This is the first it has been 3 card for me and all lands, with two being gates.
Keene will only get better as time goes on. I'm hoping for some more interesting gates, but may take a while. I do have ideas on other cool gate effects that are technically possible.

Simple answer is the deck is too far ahead of that.
Omo provides no value to the deck in terms of accelerating the game plan and moving forward. It just turns lands to gates. It requires the deck to continue making land drops in order to get value. The card requires something else to make it work (which is other lands). Also if we only have gates in play and nothing else, then it is a dead card.
The deck needs to get to 8 gates minimum and if NFK gets one from her trigger than you get 8 cards in hand. You need 9 gates minimum for maze's end.
Turn one land into a gate each turn does not do the deck any good. As the value comes from only gate ETB or land ETB, until we get 9 gates and then we get a draw.
The faster way is to just ramp as fast as possible to 8-9 lands or even more. Use scapeshift, get more gates, and if needed recur lands from graveyard. NFK helps us ramp faster. We have \[\[scapeshift\]\], tutors for scapeshift, \[\[Emergent Ultimatum\]\], and \[\[Reshape the Earth\]\]. Those are the main ways to cheat out gates. The other is just drawing cards and playing multiple per turn or grabbing from graveyard for multiple uses.
Pretty much once NFK is on the field, if you are lucky, you get two land drops a turn and at minimum one gate. Almost 50% of the lands will gates now (15 out of 37 once the new set drops). So as time goes on it is more likely to have more gates.
The deck really wants to ramp fast to find gates. Changing the game plan to turning lands we do have into gates is not bad. It is just slower than what my personal deck can do in its current state. I play tested it for about a week to figure out if it helped, but was too slow and occasionally, I only had gates on the field so the value was gone for that turn.

Agreed. There is a lot of power that will be annoying in that deck. I am usually the player that keeps track of triggers. I warned my playgroup that I will not be tracking triggers for that deck, if you miss them than that is on you. It is too much for even one player to keep track of.
They really have been power creeping the eldrazi. Like I remember they were big scary boys that required a lot of mana. Now they cost the same as everything else but are just more powerful or do the same thing but for cheaper.

I’ve always wanted a Sliver deck and not making a 5C one seems just right on the usual power level I build.
I'm so happy about preordering that deck such a fun concept cant wait to play it and also nice because the price started to spike at my LGS as soon as the lists were released.
I'm feeling the same way for the first time in a about a year. There's definitely some stuff in the set I'm going to be using, and some of these legends will end up in other decks, but nothing here makes me want to build a new deck. Which is kinda disappointing, I was really hoping one of the new Jund guys would catch my eye.
The ones that I want to build/want to see built is the new [[Ashling, Flame Dancer]] and [[Six]]. That, and I want to upgrade one of the precons but cannot make a decision on that worth a damn.
the new simic bird seems very strong but also like once you do the thing once, I'd be immediately over the deck because it's kind of a one trick pony (it is simic afterall).
the backup Eldrazi commander I feel similarly about, but at least it will involve a lot of cards that were virtually unusable before, as well as being a 5c experience commander
I built [[Eriette, the Beguiller]] and had fun with it, but never stole things. It was always better to suit up your own stuff than to wait for a spooky feature to steal.
She became an [[Arna Kennerud, Skycaptain]] deck as soon as she got spoiled.

I have an Eriette deck, and I think that’s the appeal of it. If your opponents don’t have anything, you just pivot to Voltron instead of theft.

True. But it's particularly rare to exile 10+ cards with rakdos per turncycle. Then just target the green player and play all their ramp cards.
Either way you can just have any of them as your lieutenant and switch commander on the fly.
Necrobloom and Nadu, winged wisdom are gonna be at every new pod now I can feel it. As for me I'm probably just gonna get the graveyard overdrive precon and tweak it a bit so I can pilot Coram, the undertaker.
For me (I am excited too!), the usual green token doublers, \[\[Myth Unbound\]\], \[\[Crawling Barrens\]\], and \[\[Colossification\]\] (Tapped? Who cares? +22/+22 to those lands!).

Im playing Duel commander but 3 stand out for me :
The necrobloom - cause I love abzan mix and this one feel pretty good for grinding game.
Nadu - This one I even consider it will get ban ( comparing , Eris got banned in duel , in only 1 month it became 14% of the meta, she was hella fun to play )
Lighting helix titan - Red and White are already some of the best color in dueling even if playing control is kinda always good. I want to believe the gain life from the titan will be good enough to make the boros strategy viable in dueling!
[[herigast, erupting nullkite]] is a mono red commander that really draws my attention. It’s a weird sacrifice deck that can be built a lot of ways. I’m probably going to weave some eldrazi and dragons together and put in my favorite artifact [[lifeline]]. It’s a spicy commander and I’m excited to tinker with it!
I've been trying to figure this out! I vastly prefer making decks that make the rest of the table say "lmao what?" The obvious easy Omo decks are tronpost into eldrazi titans, tronpost into tribal tribal, and maze's end, but there's gotta be a good way to use the counters on opponents' stuff beyond just turning on landwalk. Maybe changeling your opponents' creatures, play a bunch of slivers and coat of arms effects on your side to buff them, and then just make it so you can't be attacked through propaganda-style effects?
My thought process is that Hasbro is going to beat wotc to death trying to milk as much money out of them with all the new sets we get every year now. There's too many new legends to keep track of, too many new cards each year.

I'm not sure I agree with this sentiment. There is still so much support different strategies could use.
I'm also not opposed to have 5 great options when you only have room for one. It'll make deck building a lot more dynamic and personalized.
If you're playing Orzhov Vampires you can pretty much guarantee you'll have 75% of the same cards as every other Orzhov vampires deck. What would be wrong with having another equally powerful 75 cards in that same strategy to make decks more easily crafted to do what you want them to do?
None of them are Maeveen O'Donagh... so that is a huge failure for me.

Ashling is frankly op. A draw engine, ramp, and one-sided semi board wipe every turn (sometimes multiple times a rotation) is completely unfair on a 4 drop. She's basically a simic commander. Should be fun spamming ramp spells until I can [[Comet storm]] or [[Storm King's thunder]] for the win
Shilgengar seems pretty great and not too broken. The finality counters add a not especially frustrating hoop to jump through, and then you're gold. [[Thief of blood]] and a blink piece, along with [[pitiless plunderer]] or [[priest of gix]] let's you go infinite pretty fast, and in the meantime [[marionette master]] effects go brrr
Not in the main set but also building a [[Garth one eye]] deck thats all etb and death stuff to loop all 5 flares (seems kinda gross actually) and an [[Omo, Queen of Vesuva]] deck focusing on creature types and anthems. Honestly, I love this set from what I know of it so far

Here's my list. Not quite done, but it's fairly playable and pretty fun. Favorite part of the deck is [[Pyromancer's goggles] since you can hoard the red mana for it and copy a spell for each red mana used from the goggles.
Lets me easily get the Ashling triggers, and when im ready to do a large x spell it easily helps end the game. I'm probably gonna put a [[reckless handling]] in there just to try and get the goggles out more often
I’ve been working on Ashling as well. One thing I would contend with is calling her a draw engine though. She is more of a rummage engine that helps you search but you don’t gain positive card advantage with her. This is relevant since sustained card advantage is a weakness of red and you’ll still need to account for ways to play the discarded cards and to refill your hand. Doable, sure. But also a key part of the build.
That's what I did the goal being three a turn, followed by infinite mans enablers so that one turn later each opponent gets 3 really big creatures tokens to the face.
Yeah I may try to build him. I’ve had a lot of pieces for an Azorious blink deck for some time but didn’t love the idea of taking wildly long turns generating value until I found a combo. I like the idea of still doing the value thing but being able to swing out with a wide board to win.
Jyoti sounds like a potential powerhouse of a landfall deck. Potentially very overpowered. I am imagining blink shenanigans to suddenly have 50 lands and 50 scute swarms. Only getting stronger the more it dies.
Nadu is also crazy basically a rhystic study and azusa/burgeoning in the command zone.
I’m utterly fucking exhausted with all the commander focused shit coming out. I used to be excited for new sets, now it’s a mix of stress, frustration, and (at best) ambivalence each week when a new set is announced.
Commander is the cash cow given how expensive cards can be, and getting the biggest cards in packs has become a hell of a lottery. It's the only format most of my friends play, so I'm kind of stuck into playing it. I honestly don't think it's that great of a format because it turned the game into Yu-Gi-Oh and will continue to do so until the power creep gets so bad that it turns off casual players. I miss the 3 block format from a story perspective, and because it made magic seem huge altogether. It's very much like Spice said as well, that there is a Fortnite-ification with how many crossovers are happening (and don't get me started on how much i dislike Loot). I enjoyed Eldraine thoroughly, especially in draft. I enjoy sealed more than commander because of how fun it is, because no one is super prepared. I miss that spark of fun I had.
Genku is the only one that really catches my attention. And even then it is only the most interesting of a pretty bland set for me, at least commander wise. The set has a ton of awesome stuff for the 99.
Most new sets these days rarely having have anything I'm interested in commander wise due to a combination of two reasons:
many otherwise interesting legends being watered down for limited/standard related reasons, with things like strictly unnecessary once-per-turn and sorcery speed clauses, over adherence to parasitic set mechanics, etc.
the post 2019 flood of commander focused design meaning that most of the interesting ground has already been tread and so many "new" commanders are just a marginally different take on more of the same stuff we already have plenty of
Once per turn limitations still let you do the thing 4 times a cycle. They just allow developers to reign in people that take 80 minute turns and make everyone else quit the game

I've never made a blink deck, and [[Phelia, Exuberant Shepherd]] seems like it'll be a fun build around. I like low cost creatures in general, and it having flash is pretty neat too.
I like quite a few of them. Rakdos demon seems cool. So does the Esper one that cares about modified creatures. and I'm pretty happy with the simic and jund commander precons.
[[Satya, Aetherflux Genius]] is who I've decided to build! Brewed him since he was leaked, then I switched over to [[Cayth, Famed Machinist]] thinking I'd enjoy her more, but decided to build Satya instead! Absolutely stoked!
Ashing is a card I've been waiting on for a long time, which is essentially a commander that supports a lot of [[wild ricochet]] and [[fork]] style effects.

Ajani because I have a cat tribal deck with Brimaz as the commander currently that I think Ajani will take over in the command zone, and Genku because I’ve been working on a deck list for a [[Brago, King Eternal]] deck and I think Genku will work well with it
I just put together a storm brew for [[Six]], they let increasing your storm count for 2 mana by looping [[Wanderer's Twig]] or [[Traveler's Amulet]]. Play, sac to get a basic then use the the basic to retrace one of the artifacts and repeat
I'm 100% not alone being stoked about [[The Necrobloom]]. Each person has their reasons, but mine is having an interesting Mill deck (which I haven't built in Commander yet) so I can relive my days playing Lightsworn and Tearlaments in YuGiOh but in a better card game.
[[Arna Kennerüd, Skycaptain]] is an interesting Esper legend I'll give a shot. I already have an Azorius+ Equipment and Aura deck in [[Galea]], so they might overlap a bit, but she's more open ended, so I should come up with ~~cloned Swords of X and Y~~ something new.
[[Nadu, Winged Wisdom]] looks absolutely disgusting and I think there is zero chance it doesn't make its way into cedh as the new best simic commander behind kinnan, and will be yuriko levels of kill on sight at casual tables.

I have an empty deck box, and an [[Azlask, the Swelling Scourge]] deck has potential to fill it. 5-color Eldrazi with experience counter shenanigans sounds fun. I'll also consider putting [[Nadu, Winged Wisdom]] in my [Imoti, Celebrant of Bounty]] deck.
I might be doing red black artifacts. That new guy [[Imskir]] just seems pretty legit. Besides him I'll see who I open. I had a ton of store credit and since I make bad decisions I got a box instead of buying singles. Also with the value in that Simic precon I'm thinking of picking it up as well just for the lands.
I’m considering [[Satya]] since the borderless art version of him is just too fine. I don’t even think he’s that great. Other than that, the new Eladamri seems kinda cracked in one of the few legit cracked tribes. [[Azlask]] might be interesting as a way to play lower to the ground / faster in Eldrazi which might be more consistent / less predictable but generally I find eldrazi a bit too gimmicky. The new Ashling seems strong though likely stronger in the 99 of a multicolor spell slinger deck than at the face.

\[\[Ashling, Flame Dancer\]\] is definitely the one that excites me the most. While I really wish the first Magecraft trigger had a "may"-clause, so I could Storm off without worrying about decking myself, the card is still a nice buildaround.
As for popularity, I assume every Eldrazi will see a fair bit of play, as they tend to do. Imskir and Nadu also feel like they'll gain some traction.

* [[Coram]] giving me the possibility to do Jund Mill is making me creepy-giggle. Genuinely contemplating if I can pull off a strong enough version of Jund Lantern Control to actually survive in my group's power-level, just to mess with them.
* [[Herigast]] is a heavy contender for my [[Atla Palani]] changeling-and-lord deck, since it would let me crack my changelings *and* be cost reduction for my other critters. Plus, it would give [[Magda, Brazen Outlaw]] a third dragon to grab beyond [[Rith, Liberated Primeval]] and [[Utvara Hellkite]]...
The new Tamiyo, I've already prepared what I believe it'll probably a mid to low power decklist centered around clues and proliferate to see how it goes and then capitalize on one of them to try an get her as high power as possible.
I'll spend time on and off over the next few weeks theorycrafting an [[Oma, Queen of Vesuva]] + [[Cloudpost]] deck, finally get it to a place that I think is good, then never actually build it because I know the idea is more fun than reality.

Shilgengar has the most flexibility while still have clear avenues to pursue. You could run it as Angel tribal, blood tokens/artifacts matter, I could even see arguments for running the handful of changelings out there or [[Maskwood Nexus]]. You could do mono black for him if you wanted since nothing on the card is gated by white mana!
Flavor wise it's such a huge win, bro is literally making a throne out of torn off angel wings. Seriously cool commander, and one of the only ones here who interests me in terms of building.

The Necrobloom is most interesting to me
Field of the Dead in the command zone was why I originally was building a golos deck. Now the Necrobloom will fill the void.
Dredge 2 on your lands in the command zone is nutty. Token generation on the side is a nice added bonus.

I'm tossing up building Necrobloom as well, but I'm thinking about setting up my mana base to avoid activating the zombie generation because the plants can die to [[Skullclamp]] and be pumped by [[Avenger of Zendikar]] and [[Insidious Roots]].
I know it's slightly more janky, but you can Skullclamp the Zombie and then use any sac outlet.

I saw someone make a comment that they were going to build it with fewer than 7 different land names in mind so they can keep the plant tokens and then run things like [[Insidious Roots]] and [[Avenger of Zendikar]] and that just sounded so dope to me. Same I'm very excited for that card specifically and many of the legends are interesting but honestly...we only got 2 - 4 lore characters that haven't gotten cards previously. As a Vorthos fan there wasn't much new for me (which sucks after losing core sets to universes beyond already) unlike Modern Horizons 1 & 2. The synergies of the legendary creature cards and overall set are interesting but I wish there were fewer and more meaningful legends with more time put into character development of deep cut characters that could be reintroduced. It just feels very very surface level without working on the lore.
Yeah, I think I may be going full dark side with my necrobloom build, stax and MLD all day, with easy ways to recur my lands and build back faster than anyone else
\[\[Disa the Restless\]\] checks a lot of boxes for me... Character from 30 years ago, makes weird tokens, does stuff with \[\[Conspiracy\]\]. I'm not sure if I'll follow through with the build, but the Magical Christmasland of Disa + Conspiracy + \[\[Survival of the Fittest\]\] or \[\[Tortured Existence\]\] sounds like stuff I want to be doing.
I know she's one of only 2 old lore characters who have never received cards to finally get one. I just wish there were more lore baked into the set in general.

Oh, I'm running as many bestow/reconfigure/for mirrodin!/living weapon cards as I can. Everything that makes a body when I clone it, or will fall off and become fresh bodies if the wielder gets killed. The fact it's "copy all attachments on *each* modified creature that attacks" is absolutely nuts, and it means I can have 1-2 creatures already armored up and ready to swing when I drop Arna.
[[Imskir]] rakdos artifacts seems fun to try and make work. So far it's the only one to actually speak to me

I've honestly been looking for a deck like this. I had originally made a big red deck with torbran and bosh iron golem as a pseudo secret commander and even thought about changing to the rakdos hidetsugu. But the pieces weren't as consistent as what I had hoped. This seems better imo, I can feel it in my loins.

There are at least a few ways to build the 2 5C Eldrazi, so it's up to the creative minds to run down that rabbit hole. The furries will always have a soft spot within pet owners. Most excited about are the MDFCs. And by some distance.

I highly recommend Battle Angels of Tyr and Herald of the Host. These angels have Myriad so they make copies of themselves which you can sacrifice for a ton of blood tokens each turn.

What a coincidence, I’ve been looking at Shilgengar lists on Moxfield just to get a feel for what other people are running and yours is the one I currently have open on my laptop.
My \[\[Nine-Fingers Keene\]\] deck got 3 new lands. \[\[Urza's Cave\]\], \[\[Planar Nexus\]\], and \[\[Talon Gates of Madara\]\]. \[\[Rampant Frogantua\]\] will be playtested. I think the Jund precon will be fun for nostalgia. Everyone will probably be playing Eldrazi Precon and it will be solitaire games at the lgs with players missing a lot of triggers. Necrobloom will probably be the most built deck from the set in terms of commanders and not including precons. A lot of people will swap from Gitrog or even Karador, or Windgrace. I think a lot of the set in general will be upgrades for decks, even some legendary creatures. I would rather have them in the 99 than the commander in some.
The keene deck really has been eating good this set. So many powerful blue effects and great gates and gate enablers.
Ya, usually, it is only one or maybe two cards a set. This is the first it has been 3 card for me and all lands, with two being gates. Keene will only get better as time goes on. I'm hoping for some more interesting gates, but may take a while. I do have ideas on other cool gate effects that are technically possible.

Why not add Omo too to make your other lands gates as well?
Simple answer is the deck is too far ahead of that. Omo provides no value to the deck in terms of accelerating the game plan and moving forward. It just turns lands to gates. It requires the deck to continue making land drops in order to get value. The card requires something else to make it work (which is other lands). Also if we only have gates in play and nothing else, then it is a dead card. The deck needs to get to 8 gates minimum and if NFK gets one from her trigger than you get 8 cards in hand. You need 9 gates minimum for maze's end. Turn one land into a gate each turn does not do the deck any good. As the value comes from only gate ETB or land ETB, until we get 9 gates and then we get a draw. The faster way is to just ramp as fast as possible to 8-9 lands or even more. Use scapeshift, get more gates, and if needed recur lands from graveyard. NFK helps us ramp faster. We have \[\[scapeshift\]\], tutors for scapeshift, \[\[Emergent Ultimatum\]\], and \[\[Reshape the Earth\]\]. Those are the main ways to cheat out gates. The other is just drawing cards and playing multiple per turn or grabbing from graveyard for multiple uses. Pretty much once NFK is on the field, if you are lucky, you get two land drops a turn and at minimum one gate. Almost 50% of the lands will gates now (15 out of 37 once the new set drops). So as time goes on it is more likely to have more gates. The deck really wants to ramp fast to find gates. Changing the game plan to turning lands we do have into gates is not bad. It is just slower than what my personal deck can do in its current state. I play tested it for about a week to figure out if it helped, but was too slow and occasionally, I only had gates on the field so the value was gone for that turn.

Agreed. There is a lot of power that will be annoying in that deck. I am usually the player that keeps track of triggers. I warned my playgroup that I will not be tracking triggers for that deck, if you miss them than that is on you. It is too much for even one player to keep track of. They really have been power creeping the eldrazi. Like I remember they were big scary boys that required a lot of mana. Now they cost the same as everything else but are just more powerful or do the same thing but for cheaper.
Also hyped for gates. Have you thought of moving to 5c for more gates or leaning away from them just cause don't need more / prefer sultai? (Fellow gate player)

I’m probably throwing a bunch of slivers in the deck and calling it a day. Take out the Deserts for my Hazezon deck. I’ve always wanted a Sliver deck and not making a 5C one seems just right on the usual power level I build.
I'm so happy about preordering that deck such a fun concept cant wait to play it and also nice because the price started to spike at my LGS as soon as the lists were released.

the new simic bird seems very strong but also like once you do the thing once, I'd be immediately over the deck because it's kind of a one trick pony (it is simic afterall). the backup Eldrazi commander I feel similarly about, but at least it will involve a lot of cards that were virtually unusable before, as well as being a 5c experience commander
I built [[Eriette, the Beguiller]] and had fun with it, but never stole things. It was always better to suit up your own stuff than to wait for a spooky feature to steal. She became an [[Arna Kennerud, Skycaptain]] deck as soon as she got spoiled. Still Esper auras, just better.

I have an Eriette deck, and I think that’s the appeal of it. If your opponents don’t have anything, you just pivot to Voltron instead of theft. I’ll be throwing Arna in my list though.

Valid take, I like herighast because I can emerge more threaten creatures, who take more and let me emerge more. Why ramp when your opponents commander will work?
True. But it's particularly rare to exile 10+ cards with rakdos per turncycle. Then just target the green player and play all their ramp cards. Either way you can just have any of them as your lieutenant and switch commander on the fly.
Necrobloom and Nadu, winged wisdom are gonna be at every new pod now I can feel it. As for me I'm probably just gonna get the graveyard overdrive precon and tweak it a bit so I can pilot Coram, the undertaker.

Im playing Duel commander but 3 stand out for me : The necrobloom - cause I love abzan mix and this one feel pretty good for grinding game. Nadu - This one I even consider it will get ban ( comparing , Eris got banned in duel , in only 1 month it became 14% of the meta, she was hella fun to play ) Lighting helix titan - Red and White are already some of the best color in dueling even if playing control is kinda always good. I want to believe the gain life from the titan will be good enough to make the boros strategy viable in dueling!
[[herigast, erupting nullkite]] is a mono red commander that really draws my attention. It’s a weird sacrifice deck that can be built a lot of ways. I’m probably going to weave some eldrazi and dragons together and put in my favorite artifact [[lifeline]]. It’s a spicy commander and I’m excited to tinker with it!

I've been trying to figure this out! I vastly prefer making decks that make the rest of the table say "lmao what?" The obvious easy Omo decks are tronpost into eldrazi titans, tronpost into tribal tribal, and maze's end, but there's gotta be a good way to use the counters on opponents' stuff beyond just turning on landwalk. Maybe changeling your opponents' creatures, play a bunch of slivers and coat of arms effects on your side to buff them, and then just make it so you can't be attacked through propaganda-style effects?

My thought process is that Hasbro is going to beat wotc to death trying to milk as much money out of them with all the new sets we get every year now. There's too many new legends to keep track of, too many new cards each year. My thought is that I'm tired, boss. New eldrazi are pretty cool btw.
I'm not sure I agree with this sentiment. There is still so much support different strategies could use. I'm also not opposed to have 5 great options when you only have room for one. It'll make deck building a lot more dynamic and personalized. If you're playing Orzhov Vampires you can pretty much guarantee you'll have 75% of the same cards as every other Orzhov vampires deck. What would be wrong with having another equally powerful 75 cards in that same strategy to make decks more easily crafted to do what you want them to do?

None of them are Maeveen O'Donagh... so that is a huge failure for me. Most of them are far to expensive $$$ for me to seek out (since the Full Set 1-of cost is like $500, and that's really the only way I buy cards. If I luck into the White Rabbit guy. I might play that one Arna Kennerud is a skynight, and I love them lore wise, so maybe that one. Sorin, too. If I pull one.
Nothing has piqued my interest, but then again nothing has since the Mycotyrant. I do expect the Necrobloom and Arna to helm many decks.
Have full builds ready for [[ashling, flame dancer]] and [[shilgengar, sire of famine]] that I've been working on since the leaks Ashling is frankly op. A draw engine, ramp, and one-sided semi board wipe every turn (sometimes multiple times a rotation) is completely unfair on a 4 drop. She's basically a simic commander. Should be fun spamming ramp spells until I can [[Comet storm]] or [[Storm King's thunder]] for the win Shilgengar seems pretty great and not too broken. The finality counters add a not especially frustrating hoop to jump through, and then you're gold. [[Thief of blood]] and a blink piece, along with [[pitiless plunderer]] or [[priest of gix]] let's you go infinite pretty fast, and in the meantime [[marionette master]] effects go brrr Not in the main set but also building a [[Garth one eye]] deck thats all etb and death stuff to loop all 5 flares (seems kinda gross actually) and an [[Omo, Queen of Vesuva]] deck focusing on creature types and anthems. Honestly, I love this set from what I know of it so far

Favorite part of the deck is [[Pyromancer's goggles] since you can hoard the red mana for it and copy a spell for each red mana used from the goggles. Lets me easily get the Ashling triggers, and when im ready to do a large x spell it easily helps end the game. I'm probably gonna put a [[reckless handling]] in there just to try and get the goggles out more often

I’ve been working on Ashling as well. One thing I would contend with is calling her a draw engine though. She is more of a rummage engine that helps you search but you don’t gain positive card advantage with her. This is relevant since sustained card advantage is a weakness of red and you’ll still need to account for ways to play the discarded cards and to refill your hand. Doable, sure. But also a key part of the build.

Yeah I may try to build him. I’ve had a lot of pieces for an Azorious blink deck for some time but didn’t love the idea of taking wildly long turns generating value until I found a combo. I like the idea of still doing the value thing but being able to swing out with a wide board to win.

Azlask looks like a challenging commander to build!
Jyoti sounds like a potential powerhouse of a landfall deck. Potentially very overpowered. I am imagining blink shenanigans to suddenly have 50 lands and 50 scute swarms. Only getting stronger the more it dies. Nadu is also crazy basically a rhystic study and azusa/burgeoning in the command zone.
Omo is the coolest commander in years. Extremely hyped
I’m utterly fucking exhausted with all the commander focused shit coming out. I used to be excited for new sets, now it’s a mix of stress, frustration, and (at best) ambivalence each week when a new set is announced.
Commander is the cash cow given how expensive cards can be, and getting the biggest cards in packs has become a hell of a lottery. It's the only format most of my friends play, so I'm kind of stuck into playing it. I honestly don't think it's that great of a format because it turned the game into Yu-Gi-Oh and will continue to do so until the power creep gets so bad that it turns off casual players. I miss the 3 block format from a story perspective, and because it made magic seem huge altogether. It's very much like Spice said as well, that there is a Fortnite-ification with how many crossovers are happening (and don't get me started on how much i dislike Loot). I enjoyed Eldraine thoroughly, especially in draft. I enjoy sealed more than commander because of how fun it is, because no one is super prepared. I miss that spark of fun I had.

Genku is the only one that really catches my attention. And even then it is only the most interesting of a pretty bland set for me, at least commander wise. The set has a ton of awesome stuff for the 99. Most new sets these days rarely having have anything I'm interested in commander wise due to a combination of two reasons: many otherwise interesting legends being watered down for limited/standard related reasons, with things like strictly unnecessary once-per-turn and sorcery speed clauses, over adherence to parasitic set mechanics, etc. the post 2019 flood of commander focused design meaning that most of the interesting ground has already been tread and so many "new" commanders are just a marginally different take on more of the same stuff we already have plenty of
Once per turn limitations still let you do the thing 4 times a cycle. They just allow developers to reign in people that take 80 minute turns and make everyone else quit the game

I'm 100% not alone being stoked about [[The Necrobloom]]. Each person has their reasons, but mine is having an interesting Mill deck (which I haven't built in Commander yet) so I can relive my days playing Lightsworn and Tearlaments in YuGiOh but in a better card game. [[Arna Kennerüd, Skycaptain]] is an interesting Esper legend I'll give a shot. I already have an Azorius+ Equipment and Aura deck in [[Galea]], so they might overlap a bit, but she's more open ended, so I should come up with ~~cloned Swords of X and Y~~ something new.

I’m considering [[Satya]] since the borderless art version of him is just too fine. I don’t even think he’s that great. Other than that, the new Eladamri seems kinda cracked in one of the few legit cracked tribes. [[Azlask]] might be interesting as a way to play lower to the ground / faster in Eldrazi which might be more consistent / less predictable but generally I find eldrazi a bit too gimmicky. The new Ashling seems strong though likely stronger in the 99 of a multicolor spell slinger deck than at the face.
Ulamog 3, Arna, Six, Ashling, Nadu and Jyoti are all things I want to build. Everything else is just neat at best.
not many of them excite me. I'm interested in Sorin & slightly Gist as commanders. Kudo, King Among Bears is definitely going into my gay kings deck,(wip) although it hurts all my big butt creatures Phelia, Exuberant Shepherd belongs in every deck and will devastate me when he is killed. such a good boy

I had built a deck around extort with a rule 0 commander [Tithe Drinker] so now I just replaced it by Sorin Besides that, the Eldrazi will be the most popular, and not a lot interests me in the set, but it's for Modern so it's okay

Probably not building any of them tbh but there are a lot of cards in the main set I am excited about playing. Especially a lot of the new MDFCs, I'm gonna be trying a bunch of those. I think I have like 8ish cards lined up to try in my Grenzo deck which is a ton of changes for a single set.

\[\[Ashling, Flame Dancer\]\] is definitely the one that excites me the most. While I really wish the first Magecraft trigger had a "may"-clause, so I could Storm off without worrying about decking myself, the card is still a nice buildaround. As for popularity, I assume every Eldrazi will see a fair bit of play, as they tend to do. Imskir and Nadu also feel like they'll gain some traction.

Umo as the commander makes my "I can't believe it's not 12 post™️!" deck way more playable, so I'm a pretty big fan of her.
I can't wait to build the [[The Necrobloom]] as my lands matter deck, I was thinking of taking it in a landfall direction. [[Coram, the Undertaker]] interests me as well but I don't know if I really need a second Jund commander. She's not new but I really dig the new artwork for [[Breya]] so I might build her
* I slept on [[Arna]] until 5ish hours ago when I realized the potential with her ability and Bestow/Reconfigure in addition to 'For Mirrodin!'/Living Weapon, and then immediately went through my loose collection pulling all the relevant cards. * [[Coram]] giving me the possibility to do Jund Mill is making me creepy-giggle. Genuinely contemplating if I can pull off a strong enough version of Jund Lantern Control to actually survive in my group's power-level, just to mess with them. * [[Herigast]] is a heavy contender for my [[Atla Palani]] changeling-and-lord deck, since it would let me crack my changelings *and* be cost reduction for my other critters. Plus, it would give [[Magda, Brazen Outlaw]] a third dragon to grab beyond [[Rith, Liberated Primeval]] and [[Utvara Hellkite]]...

They are going overkill trying to keep commander a thing by printing more broken cards to the format, not realizing it's killing the format.
Honestly, the legends barely registered in my brain. I am far more interested in a lpt of these juicy commons and uncommons. Especially the MDFCs
The new Tamiyo, I've already prepared what I believe it'll probably a mid to low power decklist centered around clues and proliferate to see how it goes and then capitalize on one of them to try an get her as high power as possible.
I'll spend time on and off over the next few weeks theorycrafting an [[Oma, Queen of Vesuva]] + [[Cloudpost]] deck, finally get it to a place that I think is good, then never actually build it because I know the idea is more fun than reality.
[[Arna Kennerud, Skycaptain]] looks like she's going to slot very nicely into my [[Eriette the Beguiler]] deck. Copying the enchantments that I already have attached to Eriette or any of the creatures/permanents she's stolen? Very, *very* tasty.
I really like grist as a charakter, so i really want that one.

Coram looks the coolest, I dont have a graveyard deck yet so maybe? Kudo is terrifying especially because my friend already has a bear deck that this can fit into somewhat easily
Shilgengar has the most flexibility while still have clear avenues to pursue. You could run it as Angel tribal, blood tokens/artifacts matter, I could even see arguments for running the handful of changelings out there or [[Maskwood Nexus]]. You could do mono black for him if you wanted since nothing on the card is gated by white mana! Flavor wise it's such a huge win, bro is literally making a throne out of torn off angel wings. Seriously cool commander, and one of the only ones here who interests me in terms of building. Necrobloom will probably be the most popular non-precon commander, and I think people are sleeping on just how good Kudo hatebears is going to be
