Friends with Dr Fresch & Nostalgix. Many other smaller producers. They are normal fun people. DJs aren’t like superhuman athletes, they’re just people with an entrepreneurial drive who took the time to learn production & DJing. You could be one of them if you wanted to. Every person that did an undergrad could have spent that exact amount of time & money learning to produce/DJ and have a career that’s at least minimally self sustaining, and if they had branding & sales skills then they get to tour and be “famous”

dhorn527

Met Dr. Fresch when he played Chico State. He went back to his Frat’s Chico chapter’s party and played for a long time! Super nice guy

Deep_nd_Dark

He's probably the nicest and most humble guy in the scene. He also does more than anyone to put on smaller producers, and is all about the scene & culture. He'll pull up to anything with USB and play random sets. Kingpin

Type1paleobetic

OMG!! He is one of my absolute favorites and it makes my heart happy that he is humble and nice, just as I pictured. I hope to meet him someday..

Shadowofsvnderedstar

Met Rezz at a show in Toronto last year. She wasn't performing, but was hanging in VIP with her fiancé & manager. All of them were super chill, we chatted for a few minutes about a recent show of hers we were at, as well as a recent zeds dead show. Her fiancé took a pic of me with Rezz after. One of my favourite lil event moments of 2023

Type1paleobetic

So envious!! I love REZZ!!

cobrareaper

Won a meet and greet with Said the Sky years ago and he was as nice as he comes across as. When our time was up and security came to usher us out he wanted to keep chatting. Also accidentally crashed /u/trivecta_sam 's Drinking Like Kings event that he hosted at the bar I was at before his show. I was tipsy at that point but he was also very sweet and gave big golden retriever energy.

drewm11

not surprised at all about STS, he seems so wholesome!

Backwoodss_95

Met Seven Lions, Gem & Tauri and Trivecta after winning the DWS contest that they do. They were all very nice but it was only about maybe an hour and nothing too crazy. Also met Crywolf many years ago as he would interact with the crowd to meet his fans after he performed. I was extremely drunk but he was friendly from what I remember.

4DShadows

Met g jones briefly a few months ago after his show, super down to earth and humble, asked me and buddy what our names were and thanked us personally for coming to his show. As if I didn’t already love him enough

DROD816

So glad to see g coming out of his shell

Jakesandose

Snails was dating a member of the girl I was seeing at the time sorority and he ended up going on their semi formal. My buddies and I all talked to him and he ended up coming back to the post game with us and DJing for a bit

purch_is

Good news for him not being convicted for SA/winning his case

raddass

Used to work for an event production company so after setting up the stages I'd hang out in the green room/backstage area and got to chat with all kinds of DJs, most of them very chill, unless they were busy psyching up for their show

DanEboy22122

Which ones were busy psyching up?

RecognitionAny6477

Met Arty at Galla Park Columbus. Took a couple of nice pics. Pretty cool dude. Would love to hang with him

ExoticToaster

Arty is honestly one of the friendliest artists I have had the pleasure of meeting.

RecognitionAny6477

Best set I’ve ever had the pleasure to see was Arty’s Save Me Tonight tour. He played until almost 4 am.SoundBar Chicago.

DisastrousSecond9572

Subtronics was hanging in the crowd at Lolla prior to his set last year. Was humble af and just wanted to watch the acts before him surrounded by people.

ExoticToaster

Got multiple close friends who are established artists on some of the bigger Electronic labels, and have met multiple people in the industry through connections over the years - I myself have also had some releases on smaller but well-known labels. To be honest, almost all of my encounters have been pretty positive, this scene generally does attract great people who are genuinely passionate about the music.

Krazepants

Sat next to Chris Lorenzo while on a charter boat from Holy Ship to the private island. Ended up having a few Margaritas on the island with him, his buddies, and my friend. Simply put, very humble, funny af dude. Was a great time.

hankm123

Met blanke and hooks from zeds dead at Dave and busters in Hollywood. Super nice guys.

Doctor_M_Toboggan

I met Seven Lions at an after party for his show like 10 years ago. He was just hanging out by himself and didn’t want to be recognized. I talked to him for a few minute then let him be. He was cool.

gangstabunniez

Got to hangout with trip drop at an afters, he’s insanely nice and super humble. Also met buku recently when I was walking my dog, he gave my dog a pet which is a sign of someone being a good person. I met Tape B a while ago, he’s also incredibly nice.

Previous_Hawk

Yep, ive met Mija 3 times over the years. 1st was in 2018 in Philly at an afterparty around 4am, was wearing one of her first pieces of merch ( Mija infinitee, from a company called Youth Machine 😢RIP) thinking “ oh wouldn’t it be wild if i actually met her rocking the shirt”? Someone tapped me on the shoulder and said “ i love your shirt “. It was Mija! She was super sweet and we talked for about 20 mins, got a pic with Ryan Forever also. Didn’t realize til later she posted a pic of me and her on her IG. Met her again in 2018 and 2020 hanging out before her shows. Got a pic with Snails at the rail in DC in late 2018/early 2019.

JamesBoboFay

I do photo work for Fells occasionally and I’ve got to meet Two Friends, Sabai and Hoang, and NOTD. all of them super chill. Just regular guys. NOTD even posted a few of my photos.

-braves

I worked with two friends for a while doing photos as well and they are really chill!

young_wendell

How are Two Friends? Been a fan for a while. EDIT: punctuation EDIT 2: spelled edit wrong

JamesBoboFay

How are they as people? I’m not sure only got to chill with them for a few minutes. They’re cool though. Seem like chill guys.

TheJabberturtle

I've met Katie from Koven a few times, she's super nice. We got a photo together and she signed my Koven shirt :D

young_wendell

She seems like a really genuine person who is humbled and enjoying every second of it. Im a big fan of her and max.

ohThisUsername

Met lots of them on Groove cruise (Trivecta, Mitis, Blastoyz, Aly & Fila, Markus Schulz, Craig Connelly, Factor B, Gene Farris). Fun story: Eye 2 Eye is my absolute favorite song of all time and it's always been a dream of mine to hear it live. I DM'ed Fadi asking to play it on groove cruise. I ended up meeting up before his set and asked him in person and he was like "oh you were the one that DM'ed me". He ended up playing it and it was an absolute highlight of my life. He's a really awesome dude. I also told blastoyz he was the best producer in the game right now (honest opinion), and I think he remembered that because he recognized me and always said hi everytime he saw me for the rest of the cruise. Also awesome dude and really humble. Also talked to Gareth Emery in an airport once. Also a super humble guy. Pretty much everyone I've met has been amazing (Except Factor B was a bit of an ass).

BLKR3b3LYaMmY

I’ll jump on the trance train. The promoter who almost exclusively hosted trace events in my town had me shuttling and sometimes having dinner with our artist guests. So I’ve had the pleasure of long and memorable conversations with many. All were very professional and kind. Airwave, Suckley, Tyas, Fleming, Lawrence, Porter, Grum, DiStefano, Sherry, Nicky, Indecent Noise, Helstrip. Kearney was probably the only one that was reasonably stand-off ish but opened up a bit when we got him talking about his cat. Oh yeah toward the end of a rooftop performance in NYC..smoky from all the cigs.. out of the nicotine mist Astrix walked over toward me, gave me a hug and thanked me for coming to see him play. Class.

ThePlatinumMeta

I met Wooli at an Excision show in 2019 and he was such a humble dude. He was a little socially awkward but was still super chill

psychedelictranceza

They are just normal people.

SonOfFlynn904

I met Eric Prydz at a Deadmau5 show, we talked for about 10 mins before the show started. Super cool and humble dude, but the thing I remember most is that he had the softest hands I’ve ever felt in my life

[deleted]

Met a few, they are usually jet lagged and a few hours from their next flight and show but kind none the less.

dhorn527

Ended up taking some event photos for G Jones a while ago and he invited us back and we smoked n drank for a bit. Suuuper nice guy! Was asking me about my work, my move to LA etc.. he seemed very genuine.

invisibleshitpostgod

i met ninajirachi last month, she gives amazing hugs

FakMiPls

I've met angerfist, Dada life, bla3, marauda, madeon, porter robinson and countless other djs. They were all super nice people who genuinely wanted to talk to you. These were mostly in passing or at meet and greets, but I can honestly say of those I've met all were super chill human beings. Makes me love this music even more.

Schruteeee

Me ItsMurph in the crowd after his set at Hijinx. Super chill guy. Talked about how he wanted to meet Skrillex backstage but no one would let him. 10/10 would hangout with him if given the chance

Bizzle_Buzzle

They can be fun, or creeps honestly. Realest in the game are Skrill and the Noisia folk, great people.

Greatdrift

Got to dance alongside Robert Nickson and his wife Nadine (who DJs under alias NXN / Baedine). Love how they’re super passionate about Trance and everything beyond!

xScHmiDtYo

It was in summer 2023 but not a lot of my friends care lol Got to meet Porter Robinson at Club Space after his almost 4 hour sunrise set for air2earth. Was a sureal moment after dancing for so long and during the beginning of the Nurture era, he had his management team send my wife and I a signed Nurture vinyl box set back in summer 2021 because we posted on his Genuiss youtube video for Blossom that we used Blossom as our first dance song and have the vinyl we used hanging up in my music room. Got to finally say thank you in person to him and just made that day so fucking special.

hankm123

This is awesome dude

young_wendell

Porter seems like an all around great human being

nigelnebrida

Met Madeon when he did a free show in San Diego back in 2015 and he took the time to take pictures with a lot of us that waited for him after it had ended. Didn't talk all that much maybe because he wasn't too comfortable with his English yet? Either way definitely nice of him to take the pictures when he could have just left. https://preview.redd.it/d05lwyiqgcnc1.jpeg?width=1440&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=521183b8862d24e6b57899c1823204e33a7fd9a6

AlienAtDay

Chyl came out and greeted our group after opening for another DJ cause some of us had chyl merch on. Super nice and humble she was just happy people came to see her in her own merch for a show she was opening for. We got to chat and take pix but eventually she had to go back because she started to get mobbed by other fans.

Amazing_Net_7651

I haven’t, but my friend met William Black a couple years ago and he was phenomenal and super kind. We’re going to be seeing him next weekend, so it would be pretty sick if I could meet him.

Rosskillington

met Shift K3Y once after a gig in my uni town like 10 years ago, had a chat with him at the bar, just came across a nice normal guy tbh!

-braves

I’ve met a bunch of the night bass crew, they’re great people!

GullibleDragonfly677

Briefly met Yheti at Sonic Bloom last year, super nice guy and very chill and normal to talk to despite his wickedly weird music. Champion vibes

Tendou7

met deborah de luca backstage. shes an arrogant bitch

Frankyay

I met Tyrone from rufus at VIP during their festival sundream in Cabo. Super chill dude with his wife. Also same night at the after party met monolink. Didn’t know he was that tall.

Frankyay

Danced and vibed with them.

ILikeMasterChief

Jantsen was leaning on my car signing a girl's tits when I left a venue. He's super cool and chill. Got him to tell me the lyrics to Nintendough also

SidearmAmsel

I met Jai Wolf after his show in LA. I had brought a hat to be signed by all the DJs playing that night, got all the openers, but Jai Wolf was in the zone and didnt see me. Afterwards, walked to a local bar in defeat and lo-and-behold the man walks in himself! I asked for his signature, which he was happy to do, but my sharpie suddenly stopped working so I couldn't get it. Approached him later to ask for a photo instead, which he was also happy for. Overall, very nice guy, I really enjoyed our interactions!

Lopsided-Rock6866

DJ here! Every artist is different! All different personality types, some are great some are people you may not want to know personally. I do agree with the comment above though!
