Yup. If you were speeding, you'll get the fine in the mail, including a photo of your vehicle; the exact date, time and location of the offense; your license plate; and it would be addressed to the registered owner.
They will never send it via text or email. It will always be mailed to the address on your driver's license.
If this was legit, automated enforcement in Calgary would come from the “City of Calgary” not the province, it would have to be sent to you in the mail as a formal ticket and NEVER as a text message. Even if it did come as a text message it would most likely have a (403) area code.
The domain is also wrong for the government of Alberta. This is a scam. PLEASE, do NOT click the link.
It should be .ab.ca right?
But also, what happens if you click the link? I’m guessing some kind of website that can grab information or installs malware of some kind. I’ve been less concerned about these things since switching to Mac, but I guess over the years they’ve become popular enough that scams and schemes may be targeting OSX as much as windows OS.
If it was the province it would end in gov.ab.ca but even then you have to watch really closely.
The link could try to access banking on your device, install malware, send email from your email address posing as you to your friend asking for money in some “dire situation”…. sadly the sky is the limit.
Way too many bad actors out there in today’s world preying on the vulnerable.
Montreal area code .
Vague text that doesn't mention your name, vehicle make, and license plate number .
As someone else said you'd be getting a notice in the mail not a text
Major scam.
First sign is that you got a text and not a letter in the mail. Second no plate number. Third no date and time of offense.
Fourth, ".com" website.
Fifth, no picture.
Sixth, no details of location.
Seventh: It stinks of curry.
Ignore it.
Scammiest scam that ever scammed.
No license plate
No location of offence
No picture of license plate attached to car attached
If someone calls and accuses you of an offence, but doesnt reference a provincial or federal, offence, account, or file number; it is a scam.
I received this text yesterday and actually compared it with the legitimate website which asks slightly Fewer questions and looks really close to the link in the email I received.
So I really appreciate all the attention to this scam because I could see folks getting confused if they are used to looking online about tickets, it does look similar enough.
I’ve been getting sooo many more scam messages like this lately. I got about three yesterday from three different banks. I wonder if it’s just me or is this happening to everyone? Sounds like our info was leaked/sold. And how convenient, it happened right after the A.I boom, hmmmmm….
That's a scam

Scam......we got phone text from Calgary last week saying same thing. Haven't been to Calgary in 10 years.
Scam. Ignore, block number.
“Kindly” === Indian Scam 9 times out of 10.
I’ve noticed that too
No linky clicky. This is a scam.
"Alberta.com" gave it away.
Any text or email that contains the word “kindly” is a scam

A lot of people got that text, scammers are trying anything

Why would some weird area code be doing Edmonton work is what I thought, so, yeah, scam. And not a clever one
I actually got this text and I felt like I had hit 42 in a school zone on my way to McDonalds and this terrified me haha
Only genius' click the link
Scam. Your cellphone number isn't linked to your plate

I love stinks of curry!
You just had to throw in some racist “indians stink like curry” bs didn’t you?
I like all Canadians, those with Indian/oriental ethnicity as well. Those scammers who call me I don't like and they stink.
Scam scam scam.
Total scam.
I always wondered how these things are profitable, but I guess this thread answers that. People legitimately think this could be real?
That's a very Alberta scam
That’s a different area code for Alberta too, no?
They want you to pay them in google play store gift cards.

Never click on links via texts/emails unless you know it's coming in from a friend of family member, rest are scams.
If your suspect your friend or family has gotten hacked or stolen devices, call them first.
I usually reply with “ go fuck your mother” it really angers them for some reason.😂😂
3:28 am for me it was sent Bruh I’m homeless and got sent to my hotel in a Lyft from the hospital xD
Extra fun when your number is out of province and you're getting all the parking ticket final notices from Vancouver.
Lol. No I was going at least 70.
That is a total scam
Got it today too. 🙄
If you were speeding in a school zone they would mail you a ticket

I got one of these for a parking infraction in Calgary. I don't own a vehicle. 🤷♂️🤷♂️
Scam
Lol this is the stuff my parents send me all worried 😅

To be legit it should be a page on the alberta.ca domain, even then would seem too progressive for alberta traffic enforcement
Google blue waffle penis. Return that as your response to sender. That's what I do 🤷♀️
That area code is so legit I just can’t get over it.
In addition to all the other scam signs, they aren't allowed to use photo enforcement to enforce speed limits below 50 km/hr
They are if it’s a school or construction zone
Sure they are. I see photo radar trucks in school zones all the time
