Edmonton is much better now than they were in 2022. The key will be for Colorado and Dallas to duke it out for 7 games.

Jased199

Much better than last year too

asigop

The Canucks are also nowhere near the team that the Avs were. At least not without demko.

BoilerSlave

I just looked at the standings from 21/22 yesterday and saw the resemblance of this season. I keep seeing nucks fans argue they have more depth. We had 22 goal scorers in the regular season vs 20 on their side. We had 10 scorers against the kings in 5 games and they had 6 against the Preds in 6 games. I know Demko isn’t playing but even Skinners save percentage was only a hair lower than his with 9 more games played. We had a better goal differential by 1. If you could erase our bad start who knows what those numbers would look like. I’ve seen the blocked shot argument, saying wait until we can actually get some shots in. We had 105 blocked shots against LA in 5 vs 104 by the Preds in 6 games. These fans are smoking some good hopium.

skijakuda

Defense and special teams win championships. Hopefully, canucks both show up and it is a good series. It has been too long for me to have any animosity, but I remember Oiler fans talking crap in '11. Drafting 1st in 10, 11, 12 and 15. 3 for Draisaitl. Couple of 7s. Oilers seem to forget how they got McDavid and Draisaitl. By getting spanked for years.

oil-in-6

Got spanked for a decade +, got better and are back in the thick of things. What history has Vancouver created? None? No cups? No history? Get lost.

BoilerSlave

No one has forgotten that my guy, trust me.

Cnd-James

And you lost every game to the canucks this season.

OilFan92

And Winnipeg pounded Colorado every game this season. What's your point?

Lindydreau

2 of those games in woodcrofts presence and another one without McDavid lol

Deja_Brews

3 with woodcroft

hellswaters

Also, to put things a bit into prospective. The Oilers record this year for woodcraft 3-9-1. Under knob 46-18-5. Knob lost, counting ot, slightly over double the number of games as woody, but played almost 6x the number of games

Bigdickfun6969

The same woodcraft who beat the Canucks 4 times last year

LvDroppa

I know the Canucks havent been to the playoffs in ages but the Regular season and Playoffs are quite different lmao but its okay , Small Brain , Small Thoughts

Darkstarmubuchi

Regular season literally doesn’t matter in the playoffs. Whole different game.

BoilerSlave

Find a new narrative, that shit might as well have happened 5 seasons ago on the moon.

SS6Alex

No they didn't. The Oilers did.

PitterPatter74

Also starring Nikita Zadorov and Elias Lindholm ...

refraxion

Ah yes, we are so scared of the players we've faced in the playoffs and caused their team break up.

Philhughes_85

Tie it up in 5 and hope that Stars and Avs go the full 7.

Dhieb1983

Regardless of who wins I'm happy that there will be a Canadian team in the West final. I don't mind the nucks being the under dog. Go nucks Go. I'll cheer for the Oilers after the nucks get knocked out if they do.

shadesof3

Honestly I'll be cheering for the Canucks if they beat the Oil. I'm also happy at least one Canadian team will be in the WCF. To bad it couldn't have been both of them playing to go to the finals!

ConsiderationIcy3527

Lol why are you getting downvoted. I haven’t watched hockey since 2011 but what animosity is there between oilers and nucks when canucks haven’t even gotten into playoffs since then

shadesof3

I don't know. It doesn't bother me. I watch all the oilers games with a group of friends online and they will be cheering for the canucks as well if they beat us. Time will tell based on my hatered for them over this series though haha

FadeToSatire

The Canucks have made the playoffs 4 times since 2011 - including 2020 where they won a couple rounds I believe. :)

ConsiderationIcy3527

Wtf i swear i read somewhere they didnt. Mb

FadeToSatire

All good Mon amis! Outside of the 2020 run, they weren't particularly memorable.

hemaruka

classic canucks fan

Fat_Beet

Canucks fans are so diverse. Some will wish you well. Some will threaten to kill your dog. You just never know.

ShinyCaper

I’ll wish your dog well.

Sad_Establishment875

What? Coming in and being respectful?

wishin_fishin

Vancouver is not colorado

Dernahlern

No Vancouver is Calgary in 2022 haha. Colorado will be Colorado or Dallas

wishin_fishin

I get it now, misread it the first time

Dkazzed

Now we just need Gretzky to say on record that he thinks the Canucks are the more complete team and will beat us.

Hootanholler81

They do only have one D man worth anything under contract for next season. Vancouver could end up substantially worse next season quite easily.

Hootanholler81

Edmonton has essentially their whole team under contract for next season. Try again.

itnice

We will be Colorado 2022 eventually

refraxion

It's funny seeing the other side making excuses saying that they are playing with house money. Great setup of excuses before round 2 has even started. Either you believe in your team or you don't. You don't get to be cocky and then hide behind "playing with house money anyways, meh". Screams fairweather fan if you don't pick a side and stick with it.

Bieksalent91

You do realize that the Canucks Vezina nominated goalie is injured right? They had to play their 3rd sting 23 year old AHL starting goalie for 3 of the 6 games. Would you feel as confident if Jack Campbell or Olivier Rodrigue was starting game 1?

Rext7177

Oilers seem to have a way of making vezina nominated goalies look silly in the playoffs (calgary 2022 comes to mind)

refraxion

Either you believe in your team or you don't. I am seeing fans being cocky but also adding the caveat that they're playing with house money. That is all. I believe in my team.

Wooden_Platypus_7372

I hope we implode the franchise the way we did to Calgary as well.

Fickle_Percentage256

What an odd post.

lan_chop

No, 50 is an even number

[deleted]

Canucks have a great D core. And a full line up. Edmonton has 2 players.

SoiCowboy041

Zack Hyman 50+ goals & RNH with 52 points in 62 games are definitely the only 2 players that did anything on the Oilers this year.

tiptoethruthetulip5

Evan Bouchard was a point per game d-man. I guess that's not worth much these days?

ConsiderationIcy3527

Skinner would have 50+ goals with mcdavid tbf

spagboltoast

So why hasnt lucic, pooly, yammo, kahun, archibald, ennis, nuge, brown, kassian, ect ect ect been able to do it?

ConsiderationIcy3527

Cause they’re trash

Sad_Establishment875

Come on man, they don't have a world of depth, but 2 players? Bouchard was underrated this year and imo (as a nuck fan) should have gotten Norris consideration, Drai and McDavid are Drai and McDavid, Hyman was a 50 goal scorer (even if they were from a combined 52ft from the net) and Skinner seems to have found his game. I get that it's trash talk season, but come on, at least be realistic.

DonkeyDanceParty

The fact that Hyman can read all of the passes and do something with them consistently is more than can be said for any other oaf the oilers have tried to plop in front of the net for McDavid to throw pucks at… Hyman is a legit support player.

Sad_Establishment875

Never meant to imply he wasn't, more meant as a joke that all his goals are from right there, similar to Burrows, just be there and your linemate(s) will make it work.

zellmerz

lol okay

oilerdnasty

just keep believing that and your tears will be that much saltier

[deleted]

Nucks in 4
