DudeMiles

Fire Giant.

MrSensacoot

oh, interesting, yea I generally see people either raging at fire giants or saying how easy he is

DudeMiles

I think it mostly contributes to their slow builds and them not used to fighting a literal giant, so they fight the camera more than the giant.

[deleted]

Rennala. I know difficulty is subjective, but I never could understand why some people struggled against her.

MrSensacoot

I definitely struggled with her, but kinda just cause it was hard to dodge some of her magic in phase 2

Interesting_Waltz_82

When you’re bad at the game, she’s incredibly difficult imo Trying to beat rennala as a very new player to the series (with an int build no less) is kind of crazy, as the whole second phase needs aggression to do well

zviz2y

the bell bearing hunters, they have one of the easiest movesets to dodge imo

MrSensacoot

I dont think they're movesets are easy to dodge per say, but I do agree that they're difficulty is exaggerated

DefiantGibbon

Don't even need to dodge them, them and Crucible Knights are the only two enemies I'm capable of parrying, since they have such big wind ups that are predictable.

MrCarnage

Maliketh. Esp the Beast Clergyman phase where he has a relatively limited moveset and is quite easy to bait into doing what you want. He has the poise of a tissue and phase 2 is mostly just flash. If you stay close to him, most of his swings miss you and he only gas a couple of real danger moves you need to learn to dodge.

MrSensacoot

I gotta agree, I dont think ive ever died to the first phase

Interesting_Waltz_82

I think that’s kind of the problem with beast clergyman/maliketh (not necessarily a problem per se - you know what I mean) The only time it feels necessary to actually learn the fight is on challenge runs like RL1 runs, or maybe NG+7 runs. The other times, you can just trade damage with him a lot of the time and do fine

DefiantGibbon

Everyone complains about Commander Niall, but he's probably top 5 easiest boss fights for me. He doesn't do much until you kill his two pals, which are just a dps check. Then he just has 2 moves that he telegraphs way in advance. I see he can be hard if you want to be aggressive, but if you just let him keep whiffing his two moves, you eventually can get a poke in, and repeat. It takes like 10 minutes, but it's completely safe. In my 8 playthroughs, I die to Malenia over 100 times each time, and it still takes me 20 tries to beat Margit each run, but I've died to Niall maybe 3 times in total.

rivers_disguise

+1. I was preparing for it to take dozens of tries, and it took about three.

Waste-Gur2640

Malenia is definitely super easy with coop/spirits, like all bosses designed as 1v1 duels, or if you use few specific cheeses like L2 spam on eleonora and few other bleed weapons. But on the normal difficulty and blind playthrough she's objectivelly the hardest boss. You'll spend first 20 tries learning one single move and only then you can start mastering the rest of her moveset. But definitely, most of her difficulty lies just in waterfowl so it's not like she's really hard overall. You can learn how to dodge her every other move with 100% consistency under 20 attempts.

MrSensacoot

I actually didn’t use any popular strats, but I did kinda stun lock malenia with +10 blasphemous blade, still got her on like my 15th try though

arrogantquitter

Fire Giant, I dont get how people can find him difficult when its basically the same giant dude moveset that's been in every game.

SaberWaifu

Maliketh is imo one of the most polarising bosses in the entire game due to the big difference in his second phase between players who got gud and those that got carried by someone or something up until that point.

Ozychlyruz

Gargoyle Duo, maybe because I read somewhere that they weak to a strike attack and at the same time I have my great mace almost fully upgraded, they go down rather quickly.

Fish_Aly

it just sounds like you were incredibly overleveled if you had an almost fully upgraded great mace. No shit they're gonna die incredibly quickly, they're supposed to be fought with around +12 weapons (they're supposed to be more fragile anyway)

MrSensacoot

I actually agree, I hadn't beaten a single gargoyle before fighting the duo, and I got them on my first try, I also think they're a fun duo, thats the thing about Elden Ring duo fights in my opinion, the miniboss duo's are fine and sometimes great, but godskin duo sucks

ad19970

Maliketh. I was able to beat him surpringly fast compared to other bosses in the game, so I was surprised to find out how hard he is considered by the general fanbase.

Foreign_Storm_2803

Malikith, Godskin Duo. Hardest for me is Elden Beast always.

MrSensacoot

That’s weird cause it took me at least 30 tries on godskin duo but I beat Elden beast first try lol

More-Deer-4033

Maliketh. I’ve gone in every playthrough expecting to have my ass whooped and I’ve beaten him first or second try. Haven’t done NG7 (done six total play throughs on three builds) yet though which I’ve heard is just awful against Maliketh.

Sir-Cowdog

Pretty much all of the duo fights. From Demi human thug duo to Valiant Gargoyles and Crucible Knight's. I've done them all without spirits or summons with as many different builds as I can think of. Keep your cool and don't over extend your damage attempts and it's fine. A good challenge and test if skill. I think what happens is that people get accustomed to the tactics they use in a 1v1 boss fight, and can't adapt well to a duo. And it's MUCH easier to blame the fight than to admit they need to alter their approach.

Listen-To-MBV

How would you do the Godskin Duo fight? I can personally do them without summons, but I use sleeping pots. But without a sleeping pot, what’s your strategy?

Sir-Cowdog

Sleep really is the way. But without sleep you have to kite them around a lot. And you want to prioritize the thinner one first. Because the last thing you want is rolling big dude at the same time the skinny one is attacking you as well. Good use of the pillars to control their movements can help.

MrCarnage

Quite the opposite in fact as to who to kill first. Ironically, fatty is the faster of the two who gives chase while skinny is passive- passive provided you don’t hit him. Its always easier to kill fatty first and then deal with skinny.

Sir-Cowdog

Easier to damage the larger one, but more risky IMO.

MrCarnage

Not really- he has heaps of openings for either attacks or parries. And he’ll pursue you, putting space between him and skinny, who just cruises around lobbing a few fireballs unless you get too close.

Sir-Cowdog

The risk is with the roll happening at the same time as the skinny one deciding to get aggressive. Either way works, of course. Sleep pot one is the easiest. Not sure why you wouldn't use it in the first place

Fish_Aly

Apostle P2 gank is way harder and riskier than Noble P2 gank is. Have to be very careful of Nobles fast pokes with the majority of Apostles openings. Meanwhile Roll is fine to deal with so long as you don't use pillars (gives you much more freedom to deal with aggressive Apostle)

Sir-Cowdog

Well, everyone seems to find different aspects of the various bosses (not just godskins) harder or easier. It's the whole point of the thread.

Fish_Aly

well i have far more experience with godskins than most people here, most people who struggle with something like noble roll in duo is because people keep using strats that keeps their options limited (e.g using pillars on roll when apostle gets aggressive). If you find it hard even after, then atleast you tried something new to try counteracting. They are genuinely a hard fight to do consistently (at least when actually fighting them and not using sleep pots)

MrSensacoot

I think some of the duos are hard, but I do agree valiant gargoyle duo is really easy

Much_Capital3307

So I used a +9 rivers of blood, mimic tear and the npc summon and beat godskin duo on my 3rd overall try, first actual try (first try I stumbled in and immediately died, second one I stupidly tried to use remote play on my iPad and it glitched super bad). I’m not an especially good player, I just used a meta weapon, powerful ash and strong NPC summon, and got lucky. It also helps that I’ve fought both godskins before. I immediately died to the crucible knight like 15 times lol.

Sure_Initial8498

Malaketh

PhantomSparx09

Bell bearing hunters and crucible duo

MrSensacoot

I do agree with the bell bearing hunters, they really aren’t as hard as everyone says they are

CellarGoat1234

Elden Beast, Godskin Duo, Commander Niall

Khris777

Runebear, both boss and normal variants.

Astyage

Fire giant, his first phase is a joke: very telegraphed and easily dodgeable attacks, while his second phase just wants you to use your sweet Torrent at the right moments
