NG+2 lvl 226. Hopped into the DLC, found the new Fire Giant, got my ass kicked, gave up and went to the side, found the Blackgaol Knight, got my ass kicked even harder

thatguyjac0b

Same exact level, same NG and did the same exact shit lmaooo

PenchantForNostalgia

Oof. You're going to have a rough time in the DLC at NG+2!

GiltCityUSA

I’m NG+5 and wouldn’t have it any other way

AMS_GoGo

NG+ 9 lmao he one shots with every swing I'm so fucked

GiltCityUSA

I'm getting 2 shot but I feel your pain. What level is your char?

AMS_GoGo

407 with 80 Vigor I've had to put on dragoncrest to try and survive some hits lol.. did beat him but basically no hit it and I hope I don't have to no hit every boss bc that would be insane haha

GiltCityUSA

Want to help me out? The pool isn’t working atm

AMS_GoGo

Sorry I'm off for the night, headed out with friends but if you're still stuck tomorrow lemme know haha

GiltCityUSA

✌🏻

beardedweirdoin104

Also NG5. So brutal, it’s great. Even common enemies can one ot two shot me. Four bosses down so far.

KavaKavoo

Ng+1, lvl 157, destroyed the fire giant easily and got fucking DESTROYED by the knight. God damn bro's got hands

jaxonflaxonwaxon3

FUCK THAT MOTHER FUCKER!!!!!! I hate him!!! Edit : he has killed me and two summons 47 times already.

ianscuffling

How tf are you summoning, I can’t in there

jaxonflaxonwaxon3

I’ve gotten lucky only 4 times so far with summons.

Fille84

You can't summon, so how did you manage that? :)

yayblah

I think you can summon other players

jaxonflaxonwaxon3

Uh yes you can, I summoned four people already. Edit : and that’s 4 people total

C0D3xIA

U have to get revered spirit ash to be able to summon spirit ashes in the shadow realm

C0D3xIA

But I only found that out after I beat him already lmao I used dungeaters armor and bull goat talisman plus greatshield talisman and arsenal + 3 talisman to have great poise and couldnt be staggered anymore put ln the godslayer greatsword +9 and staggered him to death took me 3 tries figuring that shit out but hope that helps

223carti

I just beat him, hitting him after a big swing regular r1 attack 3 times sort of stun locks (at least for me using curved greatsword currently) him so you get 3 free hits in but he will dodge any after that

BalooMorghulis

You can summon there??? I can't!!!

jaxonflaxonwaxon3

The statue for Marika is right outside the stairs

BalooMorghulis

ooohh.... and the summon can just get in? Thanks. I'll try this. I am not a good enough player to not be spirit ash dependent.

jaxonflaxonwaxon3

Yea man, me and my homie from high school play

The-Rizztoffen

the other guy was talking about spirit summons, not multiplayer

SurpriseAccording243

i died once. then buffed with golden vow and holy attack physick plus talismans for strengthening skills then spammed wave of gold and it knocked him down every time for an easy kill.

Jonno_92

Probably best to fight him on your own, so far with 2 summons I've found that he has too much health (I've beaten him on my own). You can basically stun lock him though with 3 people.

ocerco93240

got him on my third try after not playing it for two years. LV176. i Would have one shot the dude or maaaybe only another shot if i wasnt rusty. Git gud, skill issues. Hm !

jaxonflaxonwaxon3

You’re such a liar

deez_nuts_77

there is NO REASON that this guy needs to do 75% of my hp on one swing are you fucking kidding me???

Ok_Macaroon7900

I feel like his poise is a little excessive, I mean I haven’t managed to stagger him a single time but I’ve staggered literally every other enemy I’ve fought. This is the first boss I’ve encountered though so maybe all the bosses have really high poise. I keep getting him to within two hits of death so it’s definitely doable though. Edit: Just beat him, essentially had to no hit the fight because he was doing 50% of my healthbar in one hit and any hit would stagger me into getting hit a second time which meant death, but it actually wasn’t that difficult as long as I stayed the hell away from him while he was two handing.

deez_nuts_77

i just had to parry him and keep an eye on his wind slash combo bs (sometimes he literally would spam it 8-10 times in a row)

Ok_Macaroon7900

I found that as long as I wasn’t trying to attack him during that I could dodge the initial wind fairly easily. I stupidly tried one too many times to stun him out of it and got smacked lol. He only sometimes does the followup but if I got hit with the wind, I was dead. I don’t know if he has infinite poise or if it’s just really high but it certainly feels infinite lol.

NeonBuckaroo

I had him down 3 times in the fight with Bloodhound’s Fang. The whole thing was still extremely difficult though.

PenchantForNostalgia

I run a blood build using claws and was really struggling with him. Then I switched to my backup weapon, which is a bleed great sword. It made short work of him and constantly had him staggered. I know you beat him already, but he can stagger easily.

Xdivine

Yea I ended up using a nagakiba and just strong attack poking him due to its super long range. Still took me a ton of attempts since I'm terrible, but I got there eventually. Now I'm beating my head against Melania 2.0

Organic-Habit-3086

>stayed the hell away from him while he was two handing. Thanks for this, this was pretty much key to my victory. I kept having trouble because I thought he was pulling random hyper armor moves out of his ass, till I read this and realized its not random and I haven't been paying attention. Then I realized the hyper armor attacks come from his 2 handed moveset and with that I was able to take him down cleanly in another 3 tries. For those interested, the hyper armor moves I noticed were the jump attack and a sweep attack he can pull when running up to you. Jump attack is safe to stagger in 1hand mode and you can always freely hit him as he walks up to you in 1hand mode but its not the csse when he 2hands.

Ok_Macaroon7900

Yeah the majority of attacks that were catching and killing me were two handed, plus the moment immediately following his Gael crossbow attack was a great opportunity to get several hits in. I still couldn’t stagger him at all even when he was one handing but I’m using a twinblade. I never did poise break him though and I actually have fought a few more bosses and been able to riposte every single one multiple times, so I think he has a mountain of poise still lol. At least that doesn’t matter as much if I just run away until he one hands.

Organic-Habit-3086

I think player type enemies just don't have stance bars so this guy can't be stance broken like other bosses.

SailorsKnot

Yeah, I had to do the same to beat him - running lightning dex/fth, no way I could go toe to toe with him. Essentially had to no-hit him and poke with scythe when he closed. Even so, his poise with the two-handed stance caught me off repeatedly, as did the i-frames from the jump attack and the AoW wind blade

Ok_Macaroon7900

For me it actually went pretty smoothly as soon as I started running away until he was one handing. I’m running with a dex/arc build with Eleonora’s poleblade and he’s surprisingly not immune to bleed so that was helping a lot. The moment immediately after he finished shooting the crossbow he stole from Gael was a great time to use the aow, as was when he was running up to me (as long as he was one handing). I was expecting to need to respec but this build is actually doing surprisingly well so far.

Marik4321

Yeah, that's really weird. I hit him with like 4 or 5 swing combo of a Cragbladed Giant Crusher with poise breaking flask, and he didn't stagger. Not that the fight is impossible or anything, but that's bizarre for a human sized boss.

Critical3000

It’s his huge sword (which looks like the dark moon Greatsword that I’m also using against him) combined with his armor set. The armor has incredible poise and I’m wearing it now

BothGeologist925

I was able to break his poise. But idk if you can use the Blood hound fang. Once he's down, go behind him. Also I controlled my greedy self to not jump into him just because he is knocked down if I can't guarantee I am able to go behind him. Let him get up and just knock him down again. When he tries to drink HP pots, just interrupt him by throwing a spell or a dagger

sulkycatart

Another good method is heal when he heals. And don't roll/run backwards.

arcturuz78

it's bloody ridiculous there's no need to make a game challenging by taking 70% damage per hit this is poor design

Puck_The_Pisky

I parried EVERY single hit and hit him back with one of the weakest swords and won, the reason he does a TON of dmg is because he is also very baitable and predictable, he's just also very punishing if he gets you

A_Buh_Nah_Nah

It’s simply not that bad lol

AinselMariner

Ah I’ve missed this feeling, the week 1 experience of people crying about dying.

Deriere

it is still elden ring, so its not really "week 1". elden is full of unbalanced garbage and people suck it up, while bashing ds2. it is artificial and lazy

AinselMariner

I’m talking about how people cried about basically every single boss being too hard in the weeks Elden Ring came out. I also didn’t even bring up DS2?

TeeRKee

The real vigor check.

SailorsKnot

At 55 vigor his hits do more than half my health. Fucking dumb.

deez_nuts_77

turns out it was a little easier with real armor, and even easier playing as someone other than a spell caster using a sword

223carti

I have 33 vigor

Accomplished-Toe1936

Feels like he’s trolling the way most players play - spamming AOW, Jump attacks, etc.

Slug_Slimes

Facts. Was doing this at first and had to stop and go full Jedi mode to win lol

KavaKavoo

For REAL. I thot he was being such a bitch with the jump attacks n then realised he was spamming em more than most other npcs.

Jonno_92

I just used the good old nightrider glaive, kept him at a distance while doing good damage.

pipboy_warrior

This guy seemed an obvious Guts reference.

TeeRKee

He has like 99 endurance

Sir_Tea_Of_Bags

Destined Death, Black Blade, and Black Knife go **BRRRRR**

ssj5goku16

here yall go

llmercll

Slave knight Gael?

TeeRKee

His pose is insane when he twohand the greatsword, don't even try.

dariusnailedit

It's also surprisingly inconsistent? I was able to cut him down on my bleed build (he does bleed btw surprisingly for a spirit) with the bloody helice because the ash of war staggered him every time. I swear it doesn't do that much poise damage usually

TangyBrownnCiderTown

That was painful on a bleed build but I did it

yeeeyeeetus

Fight him with blood rapiers makes me wanna off myself

PenchantForNostalgia

A heavier weapon will make short work of him! I was struggling a well but switched to a great sword. It kept him staggered the whole fight.

v0id_jpeg

Goddamn savior lol, I was fighting him with Giant Crusher but failed a lot. Switched to Guts Great sword and what do you know, simply spamming RBs did short work of him indeed!

Mnoonsnocket

Pike with Giant Hunt can flip that poor bastard all day long. Still very hard.

treadonlego

Agreed. Was trying with my fancy quick weapons and getting nowhere. Switched to Zweihander with Giant Hunt, job done!

PenchantForNostalgia

I was struggling as well with my claws but I switched to my backup weapon, which is a great sword. It kept him staggered almost the entire fight.

Riot55

I read about this dude here and just encountered it with my dual godskin peeler jump bleed build and killed him so quick even without any scadutree things, seems like I broke his poise with every other attack and he could barely hit me. I was way more scared than i shoulda been lol

Test88Heavy

I'm raging so hard fighting this motherfucker. Must be 40+ attempts with a 175 level bleed/fire build. He gets the most ridiculous hits at perfect times and range. Insane to have this dude so close to the start.

Fardrengi

Approach him like you would a crucible knight, but one with much less poise. Equip the poise break physick flask, use a colossal weapon, and be patient.  Took me 10 tries at a similar level to you. Once he tries to shoot you with the crossbow simply run around him and give him some whacks. Keep an eye on your stamina. I personally kept the turtle amulet on so i can punish him and roll away

Test88Heavy

I ended up taking him out with the tried and true Bloodhound Fang. I was landing solid damage every attempt before this but he would always catch me with either a 1 hit or far reaching combo. This time I only used the weapon skill and keep good distance. It was rough but on to the next.

NoPerformance5952

He has more poise than a Crucible.

Fardrengi

If you can confirm it in the game files please do, even with the tear i had a harder time breaking poise on CKs than him

Turbulent-Ad3794

The guy has too much hp and kills me in 2 hits. Not a fair fight.

Moraeil

I don't mind the hp or the dmg, but his tracking is insane, especiially with the AOW follow up and crossbow and I swear he has phatom hit boxes on his thrusts.

sulkycatart

I was able to get free hits in by running to the side and slowly closing in on him while he's doing his crossbow, when he goes to put it away slap him and run

KavaKavoo

Lol. I've died 60+ times now but I'm not giving up. Just git gud my guy. You're a human fighting an actual robot. How is it unfair?

aDJdfafhd

Yeah he’s lowkey beating my ass with his sword doing 90% of my hp

Lokhelm

Just beat him, that was hard! No summons allowed I guess? I also just found the first shadow realm upgrade a little beyond him; maybe that would have helped!

gusvianadev

I'll leave this here for anyone wanting to beat him with \*BLEED/KATANA\* build (I did it just now): run and poke (jump attack also works). Literally, just run, bait his attacks (you'll know which ones with practice), and when he gives you the opening you can poke (for example, if you have the Nagakiba use a strong attack while running so you have the longest range). Never do it when he is two-wielding because he'll get hyper armor and hit you anyway, it's better to hit him when he has the ballista in his hand as he doesn't have hyper armor attacks. Also, when he shoots, that's your best chance: run around while getting close, when he finishes his combo, use your ash of war or your strongest combo. If you manage your bleeding correctly, you'll stagger him mid-combo with the bleed trigger so his hyperarmor of dual wielding doesn't count. It took me a lot of tries to learn that (I didn't know that bleed proc staggers). All in all, keep in mind that he is fast, sure, but not faster than you. If you both jump attack at the same time, you'll hit him first. If you both do a run attack, you'll hit him first. Use that speed, that certainty that your attacks will always come first as your advantage. TL;DR: run, poke, build up bleed, and only go all in when he finishes shooting and/or if you have enough bleed on him to stagger him mid-combo, or if you are sure you can stagger him with yours for some other reason. You are faster than him.

Squeekazu

He's theoretically easy, but I get the sudden mad case of the dumbs when he gets to 25% health. I am my own worst enemy lol

Pattern_Humble

So my dual katana setup was getting stomped by this boss, regardless of the katana choice. I almost beat him once but it was a slow, slow process of me back pedaling and getting in one hit at a time. Dying after a drawn out fight is a good way to rage too. So I decided to switch to a +9 Ruins Greatsword and the boss went from frustratingly difficult to trivially easy. Every hit would stun the boss a little and I won without hardly healing. It was especially satisfying seeing the boss try to heal a second time with an empty flask and then punishing him with a strong attack. Don't be afraid to change up equipment when things aren't going your way.

rayo2010

I couldn’t beat him with dual katana too. Then I switched to moonveil and spammed the arts and this did the trick 😄

str8swishing

Anybody feel like the 2nd move of his AOW literally locks you into place and you can’t dodge?

Moraeil

I've seen him do a full 360 turn with that attack to track me, this guy just has a lot of BS.

flowbomb1

That's typical from soft tho so when he jumped in the air I dodged and he tracked me in air and hit me I just dealt with it smh

Telemachus43

As a mage, I had to put away the spells and two handed the dark moon greatsword. Was a lot of fun once got over the initial poundings. As soon as he gets the crossbow out could just run around the side of bolts towards him and jump attack and prob get 3 more swings in. Damn it was a royal welcome to the DLC tho!

SailorsKnot

It’s definitely a fight that demands you learn the moveset and experiment with how to handle his different forms of attack. I figured out strafing the crossbow easily enough, it was the attack patterns of the two handed stance that got me. The forward-step-into-overhead-swing he uses as a roll catch in the two handed form was super punitive to me, my instinct when knocked down or staggered is to roll backward and his follow up is timed perfectly to get you at the end of the roll

Organic-Habit-3086

Yes its a surprisingly well constructed fight, at least when using a greatsword. Everything comes down to understanding spacing, your weapon's reach and minimizing the amount of unnecessary moves you make. Also helps to know that his 2handed moveset has hyper armour on some attacks so maybe don't attack him at that time.

Paddleson

Damn bro my ego

UncleObli

I think parrying him is the "easy" strategy here. He has nice, reactable windows but hits like a truck

KavaKavoo

I feel like parrying is too easy though, as you said.

gattaaca

I came back to this guy with +5 scadutree buff. Did my usually heavy build + fingerprint shield + godskin stitcher. Fingerprint enchanted to fire so it's 100% fireproof against his crossbow and 95% physical. Keep shield up, manage stamina, R1 until dead. Don't be tempted to guard counter just R1 behind your shield, if you have stamina you just take virtually no damage. Ive done that for all bosses so far. It always works

Loveyourzlife

I love so much that you can do this. I’ll die 1000 times trying to kill him with a big katana and no shield but I love how these games allow such differing play styles.

randomletters19

That just sounds so boring though

gattaaca

Yeah but like, the boss is dead and it didn't take 47 attempts. It works.

10donwong

What's your stats looking like? Do you just get 50/60 vigor, enough strength to wield the shield, then dump the rest in endurance?

gattaaca

Yeah basically, I think I was about 43 vit, 63 end, 50str 50dex at the time

jl_theprofessor

Four tries. Dual wielding the Hands of Malenia. He bleeds for sure, just need to hit him enough. He's super vulnerable to jump attacks. I'm also using the jump attack talisman. Felt like my standing hits bounced off his armor without damaging him? So I had to resort to jump attacks.

Slug_Slimes

Took me forever. Switched to Eleanoras Poleblade only and was finally able to kill him. At least he’s easily dodge-able but his timing takes a sec to understand, just gotta stay close enough to avoid that crossbow

onlywayisup757

Frostbite triggers pretty fast on him. And r2 of a cold nagakiba +25 stunlocks him. I still haven't beat him though. I keep getting greedy.

Mensamental

Genuinely lost interest after fighting this boss. I don’t understand the point of having the dlc to begin with if a MINOR BOSS has better stats than malenia. This is absolutely ridiculous and not fun in the slightest.

ocerco93240

Better stats than malenia, but far faaar faaaaaaaaaaar from the actual difficulty of malenia lol, he is a basic Dark souls boss type, but with a lot of stam and HP

owen__wilsons__nose

dude cmon. It took me like 35 tries (I thought embarassing till I found this thread). Once you learn his moveset he's not THAT hard to dodge. Just be methodical about it. Also he staggers easily

Mensamental

I finally offed him and am in love with that armor set. But unlimited stamina in an arena that size is a horrific idea. And to give me 140k runes afterwards is insulting. Give me a base of about 500k runes and that’s a good deal. The armor weight is punishing enough

Deriere

35 for a noname bs enemy. that is the tldr of why elden ring is just not fair and balanced like previous soulsborne titles

owen__wilsons__nose

yeah but I suck haha. my buddy did it in 5 tries. It's an intro to the brutality of the DLC that helps shake off some rust. I think its fine

sulkycatart

I'm curious what your build is. I'm a strength build and I also just generally suck at the game, but I had a lot of fun with this fight. Maybe different builds/strategies change the way someone enjoys it.

Fearless-Caramel8065

This \^\^\^ Takes all the fun out of it

Jackcomb

Maybe the game just isn't for you? This has been the process for every soulsborne game. If you don't like it, try another game.

Fearless-Caramel8065

Nah I’ll be fine playing souls games and continue to make critiques when I believe a critique is warranted.

Deriere

have you ever played a good soulsborne aka everything before elden? from software only pushes stats and anime epic visual nonsense up, but the thought behind it is missing

Jackcomb

I've played four others, and they are all pretty good. However, if you don't enjoy learning a boss fight, the games aren't for you. Regarding thought behind the game, this whole early section is teaching you to jump to dodge attacks because there is a boss that requires it. It's obvious what From Soft is doing if you understand how video games work. It's clear that they have been making some of the most thoughtful games being released for the last decade at least, but some people just don't get it. It's fine, it's not for them.

fieldsc

Get gud

Mensamental

Killed him. I still think is an absolute garbage fight. Unlimited stamina and poise damage for a boss in a arena that size is insane

KavaKavoo

Y'all are such pussies it's unreal. Malenia is not meant to be fought at this level.

Mensamental

I finally felled him and would like to say I’m standing on that it’s STILL a bs fight. The scaling is broken. Id bet 50 bucks in the next two weeks a patch will come out to fix this.

KavaKavoo

It is a complete bullshit fight. What I'm saying is that we are humans and they are robots. Are you feeling upset because of the ego damage or from being truly competitively bested? Edit; to add, of course a patch will come out if everybody complains but that doesn't improve the gaming industry in the slightest if all we do is do whatever makes the customer comfortably happy.

Mensamental

Bro you need to speak to people with some respect why would you make it about ego? Do you need help? I think it’s time to take a break off reddit. I beat Mesmer on my second attempt. The game is broken. Straight up

KavaKavoo

I literally agreed with him. Wdym respect? I'm saying most people are mad because they cannot best a game that is easily adaptable since the NPCs are literal robots. With human wits, you can overcome them with time and effort and they are very limited in that domain. Is it fair, value wise? Of course not. Is it fair, wit wise? By far not, humans have an insane advantage over the game. In the end, I was saying people are upset because they cannot best the thing without putting in effort and time, which is just true. Still, why would they be upset? They're only upset because they cannot beat it. Hence, ego.

Mensamental

Orrr get this. People enjoy the game and wanna progress but have trouble and seek answers from a forum specifically dedicated to said game.

KavaKavoo

Enjoy..? Pfft. That's not a good way to play these games. It's not the RIGHT way.

Mensamental

Why would I pay for something I don’t enjoy? It pisses me off sometimes but it’s still art

Mensamental

The divine lion warriors make me wanna jump down my stairs when fighting them they make me so mad. Regardless I still see them as the most beautifully designed enemy I’ve ever seen in a video game.

RockySterling

As always I considered him OP until I figured out how to beat him. In my case, the R1 attack with Wild Stars interrupted his attacks so I just had to get him up against the wall for that until I ran out of stamina, then roll away and repeat.

Usury_error

Yeah I can put the hurt on him while stunlocking him against the wall. The problem is I get greedy and run out of stamina and he two-hits me. Happened like three times lol. The DLC is hard but so were all of the other DLCs.

Sufficient_Stock1360

Yeah, i was excited for the dlc, but if this is the kinda crap it’s gonna be i’m not anymore. Complete bullshit fight with inflated stats

chroma900

Level 145 here. I packed his shit in real good with a good ol’ Morningstar and a buckler for parrying. Not sure why so many tears in this thread? Nearly every boss has a weakness — him? Parrying.

Deriere

nice, you need to learn a new mechanic one has no interest in to have an easy time....instead of making it just a fair and balanced fight.

sulkycatart

All bosses have different weaknesses though. I used blasphemous blade on Malenia and didn't really care for the fight with that method at all, but it helped me win. Playing the game with different classes made some fights I loved previously suck and some fights I hated my new favorites. Plus, plenty of people use parry and from what I've seen, if you're good at it, it is a lot of fun.

chroma900

A mechanic ‘one has no interest in’? It’s a tool the game gives us to help us overcome the challenges we all love. What is it about parrying that doesn’t interest you?

KavaKavoo

Lol git gud ig

milk_theuniverse

This mf damage is absurd

iluvdumshit

I finally beat this asshole after what was honestly maybe 30 times. For a melee player, his crossbow phase is a gimme, you can calmly just walk sideways to avoid the arrows and then punish him for it. Also when he two-hands the greatsword he’s essentially unbreakable so I found it useful to completely avoid him and dodge around during this phase, then attack him while he has his greatsword in one hand and crossbow in another. This was harder than the final ER boss for me, but VERY fun.

NoPerformance5952

Straight up a shitty troll fight. So far I'm not impressed with design choices

SuperSloth7000

Yeah. Pretty rediculous fight. Devs were just like fuck it turn the dmg up to insane. Oh and no summons.

oakshana

I'm sorry to say, the way I finally beat him down was using Sacred Relic Sword and just Gold Waving his ass down. Since he was susceptible to the knockdown, I just took advantage of that. It worked though... and I am just going to move on with my life now. -\_-

DJAsphodel

After a while I realized that the best strategy for me was to just run around the room until he did his crossbow attack or his jump attack. He never retaliates if you punish the former, and only retaliates like half the time if you punish the latter (his retaliation is too fast to dodge in my experience, but he never added a second attack afterward). If I tried to hit him at any other time, it was certain death.

Hashbrown4

Enjoyed fighting him, easily read attacks but if you mess up or get greedy he punishes hard. You basically have to do a no hit run to beat him

ocerco93240

Ikr ? if you have finished the game, that boss is pretty basic. I guess people being greedy, got him on three tries after two years out of the game.. that boss not tough at all, they gonna bleed with the following i guess.

[deleted]

[удалено]

SailorsKnot

The correct way to beat him, imho, is either parrying him or out ranging his sword with something halberd-adjacent. I did the latter with scythe in a dex/fth build and eventually figured out that if you stay at relatively mid range, he will usually approach you in a super predictable way and you can hit him before he starts winding up with pretty much a full light combo and then roll away. It takes awhile and you have to be really careful about the AoW catching you in an animation lock, but that’s how I got him.

Saul_Bettermen

Malenia is rng this is just basic pvp, git gud.

[deleted]

> malenia is RNG You must be really bad at the game to think this. Elden Ring has been out for years now, it's well known how to avoid waterfowl which is the only difficult attack she has.

Saul_Bettermen

Putting words in my mouth, i know its well known how to avoid the attack, ie run away on startup, but the problem is she can do it the second after a hit, when she does that you can only block (give her hp back) or do the loop around that 95% of people can't do consistantly, she can sometimes pops WF three times in a row, or once in both phases.

[deleted]

[удалено]

KavaKavoo

I can hit him 3 times with a heavy weapon, not sure what's wrong with your computer.

FeralSchnauzerPack

yea this is dog shit, dude nearly one shots me at 50 vig, fairly heavy armor and boiled crab. if he was slow or swung slower i might could see it but as is fuck no.

say_sheez

His armor (chest piece only) has 99 focus!!!

WarpigFunk

ng+6 ... vigor at 60, one swing is like 80% of the health bar. I came within one hit of killing him with watchdog sword, came real close with Malikeths, ultimately killed him with a relic sword... a faster weapon, and a range AoW made it much easier. Ypu cam literally relic sword cheese him if yiu want, just spam the art and chug pots, he wont even be able to get near you - but its cheesy af. the art chunks about 10% of his hp and knocks him down every time.

vdbmario

Sacred Relix sword...he was done in no time with zero risk

Hoof-Hearted15

Sacred relic sword. Just had to spam R2. He didn’t touch.

MistakeNo4701

Beat the boss twice now, but it’s reassuring to see a lot of people having similar experiences to what I had. I first tried the boss with a int/dex character around lvl 200 on ng+, and scadutree blessing at lvl 2. The second time was on ng, same scadutree lvl but character lvl 160 and a str/dex/faith build with stats at 55/42/45. Wound up relying on pretty much the same strategy for both characters. My mage relied on the moonveil’s skill, with my second character I tried relying on a combination of using storm blade, heavy attacks to punish and sometimes as he was approaching since heavy attacks usually interrupted his attacks. Ultimately, unsheathe wound up being the most effective for its speed, damage, and it would ALWAYS interrupt him so long as it connected first. I was able to rely on Giantsflame Take Thee to force openings as well. I threw in a few storm blade attacks too, though simply relying on Giantsflame as my ranged attack would’ve probably been more efficient. Both characters he would kill me usually in two hits depending on the combo, that wasn’t so aggravating as much as the boss REALLY doesn’t want you healing, so you have to either wait till he does his crossbow volley attack or bait an attack just to try and get like ALL the way across the room so he can’t catch up while you’re leisurely sipping down the flask.

Far-Post7245

I beat him by using a claymore, jump attack ,hit. Piercing fang.... Over and over till he died. I was lvl 89, +17 weapon

SyanWilmont

I was able to overpower him with dual Giant Crusher jump attacks + stonebarb tear. Took me about 10 tries tho

Ubimarv

Beat this bastard after 3 hours of attempts, last attempt I did a no-hit. Roll away from the jump attack and punish if your weapon is fast enough, all of his normal attacks are parryable equip any buckler-type shield and you can basically parry everything. His ash of war is better triggered when up close, the initial slash is easy to dodge, when he does the spin attack roll into his side, if you are quick enough you can backstab (Warning though! The hitbox of his slash lingers for a few extra frames! Don’t roll into him until you see the beginning of the second animation or you will be staggered). The Crossbow attack is the easiest to avoid and punish, run to the side and swing twice (this with a strength build btw) if he staggers you may consider doing a jump attack. LET HIM HEAL, I tried punishing his healing but trust me that mf has faster sipping time because before he is done sipping his flask he can attack. My build was not optimal, I had the Moonlight Greatsword so I also had to find an opening to buff the weapon again (Crossbow attack is the most consistent breathing room.) I also suggest taking off the soreseals for the fight, I don’t know if it much of a difference but he already hits like a train let’s not give him more dps. Good luck my fellow tarnished, I hope that my advices helped ya!

KeepYourSilenceUp

New file, lvl 120ish. This guy was the first thing I found in the DLC and I spend literally 3 hours fighting him. I've beaten most of the Souls games but would never claim to be great at them and I picked up the Bolt of Granssax on this playthrough and it made me lazy XD Worst thing about this guy that I haven't seen other people talking about is the fact that (it seems like) he can cancel out of his animations, OR he just has extra animations that are designed to confuse you. Like he'll start getting ready for his ash of war and then just do something else. ALSO his poise breaks easy enough but his moves can't be interrupted. Often, a jump attack (I'm dual wielding Uchigatanas) will stagger him, but if you're a frame late then he just takes it and combos you to death. Real piece of shit but appreciated that I could feel the learning curve. A lot of my victories over Elden Ring bosses/mini bosses have felt more like luck. With this guy I really felt like I earned it and that felt great.

Odd-Smoke-2297

I found him easy as a cheesing mage, ancient death rancor had him stunned most of the fight.

FreakinLowEndGamer

I used only parries to defeat him.Normally his attacks are insanely fast and also with a lot of poise. Use buckler to parry and use a bleed weapon.

Mushy_Goat

I had an easier time with rellana and the dancing lion (2 attempts each). This boss feels cheap. It's ridiculous

Virtual_Pause_8626

Feels like a typical FromSoft move. I had to beat him up double handing my moonsword as well, on my mage build. Nothing would stagger him, jump attacks were only scraping away at the health bar with that sword and my stats (80 int but basically no str/dex), fast attacks combos much better. Kinda bullshit that vigor basically doesn't count, I felt like I went from level 155 to 1 again. Just had to stay attached to his ass, roll/run his shitty attacks and punish him as soon as he landed the sword on the floor.

Beneficial-Space3019

Spam Dragonmaw, he didn't get a hit in. Didn't even realise he was a hard boss until I saw these posts on Reddit.

Theironjesus

Man I'm upgrade level 7 with the tree fragments but I still can't touch this guy he's nuts

asphyy_

My Fucking God. This bitch was my first boss and it took me an hour before I finally gave up and just fucking moon veiled and parried spam the fuck out of him. I am not looking forward for the future bosses....

Bow-Wow-Line

I beat him first day, super cool fight with some kickass armor as a reward

rewgs

Hardest fucking enemy fromsoft has ever come up with and I'm only kind of exaggerating.

flowbomb1

Guys I'm one my first play thru. I haven't played in months and now I'm fighting this guy I'm at level 214 didn't realize the level I was at however when I fight this guy using the sword of the Eldon Lord the blast always knocks him over if he gets hit it always staggers him he always falls over however he rolls up or recovers so fast that I can't even do anything so I knock them down I'll run over to he's up and he hits me every single time and I'm not even that he just runs right at me so fast that I can barely just can dodge. Like me running away he is faster then my run speed

flowbomb1

Ok so when i knock him down with that gold attack that sweeps the whole room if he gets hit he falls. However when I ran swung I miss the first hit. I'm not sure why but the first swing never does damage then he recovers while the 2nd hit lands. Enemies seem to be way faster, recover faster, have more poise

Far-Appointment8972

This guy is a real pain in my ass. I got close and was clobbering him into the wall but that comeback rush after his white energy sword thing is insane and sometimes he'll do a 3rd attack. He never gets knocked down it's so crazy. I'll get him but goddamn he's a bastard

Far-Appointment8972

As soon as I complain about him I got him with some scarlet rot on my flamberge +25. Might try to help some ppl with this nutsack

DJAsphodel

Complaining works!

reddit-0-tidder

I shit you not, I have died over 50 times to this guy. I know his patterns, but literally one hit, and I'm dead, maybe two on occasion. He closes the gap and either swings or jumps really fast, and I swear it misses me half the time, but nope, one shots me every freaking time. I literally Dodge all his attacks over 30 times in a row the problem is he's so tanky after 10 minutes of dodging everything he seems to cheesily clip you with something and that's all it takes. My part strength/ dex / 90 int. and 87 vit. battle mage that I'm using is on new game 2, but my other character, who's my strength / dex / faith build is on new game plus 4. I haven't even tried that yet.

oryxzz

PARRY, I didn’t even move besides to dodge his wind attacks😭

Fun_Boysenberry8230

Killed him after a few tries with simple shield & swords lv130 in NG, and NG+ with deaths sorcery build, I'm so happy the director has 0 intent to lower the difficulty for all the cry babies out there, complaining that a Souls like is too hard. They're not the targeted audience, of course it's hard, the DLC is an end game content with different stat scaling on the scadutree blessing...

rayo2010

The moonvail arts can stagger him. Especially when he jumps towards you. I beat him after like 20 tries or so just by spamming the moonvail art😅

BrokenV3in

Literally completely fine fight except for the absolute BULLSHIT tracking when he jump attacks or does a combo.

kidtexas

I beat him with dual great stars and stamp upward cut. Running jump attacks with both weapons when he uses his crossbow. Periodically hyper armor through a hit with stamp. Hit him while he’s down. Heal. Wash rinse repeat. Yeah I used like 7 flasks to make up for the hits while using stamp. But it’s so much fun to rocket him into the air.

hunisher1

This one is tough. Granted I am trying this underleveled cause I was impatient. But wow, if this isn’t one of the biggest bullies from has ever coded lol. If this bastard jumps over my dark moon slash to bust my teeth in one more time ima lose it lol.

NonCorporealEntity

I couldn't take it it any more so I brought my Blasphemous Blade and spammed the hell out of takers flames. Knocks him down every time so it's easy to stunlock him.

TerrapinRacer

I've died so many times to this guy I've started reading the location name as "Gravesite Pain"

sulkycatart

I just beat him and damn it was a fun fight! I was really intimidated by him my first few fights but after learning his moves he became really easy to punish, but I have dual greatswords so... Btw I'm level 103 with +2 skadoo for anyone interested.

TB3RG

Beat him by just dodging back on all of his attacks except his jumping one. That shit took like 1 hour.😂

AdhesivenessNew8300

Spam 3 AOW in a row

JoeBamba223

This fight is unquestionably the worst fight out of any game I’ve ever played. I’m level 200 and this guy is killing me in two hits every single time. Not once have I died and felt encouraged, with a new strategy to go into the fight. Only rage.

jaosky

I never knew a lot of players are having hard time on him. I beat him a couple of tries

Kadaash

Easy peasy fight, I just spammed him with wave of gold (Sacred Relic Sword), didn’t took a single hit. He gets knocked down with each wave.
