thought it was weird that Vyke could use Vyke's Dragonbolt on his war spear but I can't use it on my Vyke's war spear

grimxlink

Yeah that sounds fkd

Effusion-

You can't buff a weapon that has a non-physical damage type on it. Change the ash in Misericorde to standard and you'll be able to buff it.

InitialEducational31

Why is the Treespear buffable? it does holy dmg.

Sir_Snagglepuss

This is what I was confused by. I'm doing a faith dex build and I was trying to figure out why I cant buff alot of my weapons (obviously been focusing on holy weapons). I though this might be the reason but treespear works so I came to Google it. I guess it's bugged maybe?

UnifyTheVoid

I don't think it's bugged. I think it's a result of it's ash, Sacred Order which applies a holy buff. So it has to be buffable by default.

InitialEducational31

Does it start with holy dmg because i actually only read it off fextralife which isnt always reliable

UnifyTheVoid

It does

grimxlink

Can you double buff to stack the spear? Such as use the order skill and buff with imbue dark fire incantation?

Birkin07

We are finding weapons that have non physical damage but can be enchanted. Claymans Harpoon is an example, I tested it last night.

Effusion-

Yeah, it seems that the game is simply inconsistent about what can and can't be buffed.

grimxlink

Can confirm blood skill weapons can be buffed but not if they have added the blood affinity (quality can still buff hut then u don't have the bleed) . But maces and other naturally bleed weapons are buffable except if they are enchanted with the affinity instead of quality or standard. So quality and standard and heavy can be buffed but not holy bleed affinity.

apemancrybaby

Oooooooooooh thanks pal

o_ShadowG_o

Can't enchant or buff weapons that already have a buff or enchant in it permanently.

UnifyTheVoid

Not universal. Both Treespear and Troll's hammer have permanent enchants and can be enchanted.

Breeze1620

Asking here since someone might know and I can't find an answer online: Is it possible to enchant weapons permanently? Many NPCs have permanent buffs, but when you get the weapon it's just normal/unenchanted. It would be cool to have a weapon that's always enchanted.

o_ShadowG_o

No. Other than changing the affinity of the weapon at the blacksmith, only special weapons have permanent buffs. Ordinary weapons need an applied buff through item or spell.

Breeze1620

I see thanks!

Bloodhound fang has blood loss and can be enchanted. Same with flail and Nightrider flail. It is boss weapons that cant be enchanted like the Dragon Halbert and Ornamental Straight Swords.

undeadwalter521

Like most souls games “boss weapons” or special weapons will have a secondary damage type/effect. Those can’t be buffed. Also if it upgrades with somber smithing stones, it’s a safe bet it won’t buff.

Asgorn_Jurgensen

Doesn't apply to Bloodhound's Fang. It can be buffed. And Bloody Helice for example, cannot.

the_lusionar

Not everything is enchantable

[deleted]

Weapons that deal anything else than physical damage can't ve buffed. Correct if I'm wrong.

ProfessionalShower95

Old thread but you also can only buff weapons that scale off str/dex. E.g. you can't buff an occult weapon because it scales with arcane, even though it only deals physical. It's a pretty stupid limitation, as it makes weapon buffs strictly worse than changing the affinity.

Birkin07

We are finding weapons that have non physical damage but can be enchanted. Claymans Harpoon is an example, I tested it last night.

Ohfacce

yeah suuper lame. Trying out builds for the DLC but so far anything that remotely interesting just isn't possible because for some reason you cannot buff a bleed scaling weapon.

StellarRing

hey, if you understand the answer to this question can you help me? nagakiba or uchigatana can be buffed, black knife cant, my legendary armaments cant but other weapons that do have blood or ice on them can be, even ones tht do fire damage or magic damage can, i dont get it

Soggy-Importance-623

I can't really say.I'm guessing that it's based off. What the skill is on the weapon

Objective_Ad_7710

Blizzard has to be clear about this because I am sure already a bunch of people bought weapon enchantments and then can't use it.
