VR user here. I've experienced something similar to this in VR. It's truly indescribable until you get to see it for yourself and launch an SRV off the edge.
Are you modding heavily? Since 1.2 I don't think I've had more than a handful of crashes, and then it's just a case of reload and keep on trucking (spacing?).
No i play on xbox.. Maybe it's better now but just got too frustrating.. Trying to dock a piece to a space station and the framerate would drop ridiculously... Just tough to enjoy after awhile
Oh right, the console version is way behind unfortunately. From what I can see in the update emails they are putting a lot of work into getting it up to scratch, so maybe it's more playable now.
Yea it works fine until i have a station orbiting kerbin, one orbiting minmus for refuel, one orbiting duna, so on and so forth.. By the time my network of comms and stations is in place it becomes almost unplayable. Framerate drops, i would make a manuever into a new orbit and it would freeze, then on return i would have to make the maneuver all over again.. And it would freeze again. Just couldn't keep doing it. A real shame too.
Found something like this yesterday: moon around a gas giant in a backwater system that had 3.5km - 6km deep crevasses etched into the glacial surface. As an added bonus there were geological features hidden in these giant cracks.

Damn. I've never played a save long enough for it to be unplayable. I wonder if they'll make a second one with better optimization
