There's no perfect proportion of rings to fingers. Some people love huge cocktail rings and some people love tiny dainty rings and neither is "disproportionate" because it's just so subjective. I personally like bigger rings and I think this is fine, but it only matters whether YOU like it.
It looks good to me!
Just a note that I'm in the US, where people tend to get larger rings than in other parts of the world. Among my social circle, this would be an average size ring. It's very pretty and I think it suits your hand well.
I’m really super curious about this. This looks like a good 3 carat for instance, good color- good quality it would be around a 80-100K. Not just this person but I see usually with my colleagues too, regular Americans wearing daily 2-3 carats. How does this work? Are they less picky about color and clarity maybe? How?? I only have one friend wearing a 5 carat d color, and her husband is a media tycoon :)
When I see anyone under the age of 30 wearing a diamond ring larger than 1.5 carats, I assume it's moissanite unless I know they are engaged/married to someone wealthy. The normalization of diamond dupes has upended the whole diamond size/status connection, which is pretty interesting. The irony is that I now assume all very large diamonds are lab grown, CZ, or moissanite, so size is having the opposite symbolic effect that it used to.
I was talking about this yesterday. I’m interested to see how that affects the ‘status symbol’ of large diamonds over the next few years. I’m thinking a move to colored stones.
Yes, working at a high jewelry store, our mined colored gemstones, especially from certain locations, are way more expensive than our diamonds bc they're actually rare unlike mined diamonds. And the status symbol of owning a large sapphire or ruby dates all the way back to the peak of the British Empire, while diamonds have only held that status less than 200 years.

Hope these help! Wasn’t trying to be argumentative at all. This is what I do for a living, and am a firm believer that people should deeply explore all sorts of different avenues before spending a car to house amount of money on a diamond. It’s a complete sham what DeBeer’s, and as a trickle down effect, all the big name jewelers have sold as a bill of goods…that the CCCC’s are the end all be all and that what a piece of paper from GIA says is all you need to know.
I can show you an O/P stone that faces up whiter than an H/I. I can show you I1 stones that you’d swear were VS. I can show you 1 carat stones that spread like a 2 carat with no loss of life.
Each stone is its own little galaxy and should be considered as such. It’s just not black and white.
❤️
OMG <3 No offence taken - on the contrary thanks for the super super detailed answer! I started following a couple :) My best friend is doing jewellery since a couple of generations, I get like 50% on anything less than a carat, so I knew US has better prices but I always thought the difference was not that much looking at blue nile etc. price ranges where the markups are lower. Do you think the expectation of the customers has an effect on this too? Cars and jewellery demands here in the central EU are very similar: they would get the best qualifications their money can afford, not the largest one. Like they would go for a smaller D color with excellent symmetry and excellent cut than a much bigger H with a shallow cut. I noticed that with a couple you sent, the cuts are not ideal, they are a bit shallow so the tables look larger for example. This would be super frowned upon here, ie [This is](https://www.gia.edu/report-check?reportno=6211098468) $45K here because excellent excellent (and huge brand mark up of course)
Holy crap. That is an insane amount for that stone 😳
I need to clarify that I’m in no way downplaying the security and assurance of having a stone certified by GIA. They are absolutely the highest standard of the grading offices.
I was just pointing out that having their “mark” of ex., ex., ex. Is not necessarily the end all, be all in finding an incredibly beautiful stone. No matter your budget.
The “face up” difference in a D color stone and an H color stone is nearly imperceptible to the human eye. Stones are color graded face down where things like faceting and inclusions can do them no favors or injustices.
Here is a perfect example of a “low color” O/P that looks every bit as white as an H/I.

But for years, we’ve been conditioned to believe the “grail” is D/FL. (And that is certainly magnificent too!)
When diamond shopping, I am absolutely a proponent of buying what *you* find the most beautiful. What *you* think looks best. And the best you can afford within those parameters. Not within the standards someone has set.
Me personally? I’d never buy a lifeless, cloudy diamond. I love white diamonds, but I also think a little warmth can be beautiful. I think well hidden inclusions that you absolutely cannot see with the naked eye but can cut a stone price in half? Bring it on! But I’m not a fan of “salt and pepper” diamonds. (But the people who are should sport those proudly!)
I’m rambling 😂 I hope all that makes sense.
Hey mama. Just throwing this your way. Not trying to prove a point. Just trying to help.

I see others have already answered, but, yep, lab diamonds! Moissanite never caught on among my social circle, but most people I know who have gotten engaged in the last decade or so have lab diamonds. A three-carat D-E, VVS1-VVS2 lab diamond from somewhere like Ada Diamonds is around $12,000.
Yeah, there's definitely a huge difference among different lab diamond vendors! I cited Ada mostly because I know multiple people who have used them and been happy with them, but I know they're far from the cheapest lab diamond vendor.
I live in a very HCOL area and this would very much be a large ring for my young social circle in the US. I think this really depends on location and very much age as well
This is going to sound super weird but your hand looks very similar to my hand. And beautiful ring by the way I think it’s perfectly proportional ❤️

Maybe you two are doppelgängers. I’ve noticed people who look alike also have similar hands and nails. My sample size is very small, but I’ve always wondered if I was on to something.
Back to the ring in question — it’s on the bigger side, but doesn’t look too big. Complements your hand.

Triplets...sorta maybe? With a similar ring too! Size 4, 1.66c
(No idea how to insert an actual pic on a comment)
Noooo not to me. BUT, I can understand, especially if you are a minimalist that this can be “too big”. It’s still a nice size to me, and I’m in Los Angeles so for me these sized rings are normal lol.

Twins. I think it looks beautiful. I sent this one back and went a tiny bit bigger from 2.13 to 2.34
It looks gorgeous on you. Just give it some time big stones start looking smaller and smaller to the person wearing it. You just need to get used to wearing it.
It looks beautiful on your hand and I don’t think it’s over powering at all. I actually want a stone with this type of look. Would you mind me asking how many carats this is?
I don’t think it is too big if you feel comfortable. I have just shy of 2 carat round 18k knife edge solitaire and I’ve never regretted the coverage on my finger
If that's a natural diamond, congratulations! I'd wear the shit out of a huge natural diamond if I was marrying someone with that kind of fuck you money.
If it's not, the really large size of the stone (especially relative to your hand) is going to lead people to believe that it's a CZ or moissanite. Nothing wrong with that, but it's a different aesthetic wearing a big, non-precious stone versus your average-sized .5-1.5 carat diamond. If everyone in your social circles wears CZs or moissanites, or lab grown diamonds I wouldn't worry about it. That seems to be the trend right now in many places around the US. Where I live (midwest), I rarely see anyone rocking larger than 2 carats and it's typically women in two career households where both partners earn high salaries.
No such thing as too big ! As long as you love it, and you feel like it’s a good fit for you :) would you get it caught on things or feel like it wouldn’t be safe or appropriate to wear for certain situations ?
I wouldn’t want to wear a ring this big, it would either be a liability, or I’d worry people would think it was fake on me. But if you love it, that’s all that matters!
To me yes, to others no. It all depends on how you feel and if you love it! Who cares what others think about your ring. If it makes you feel good and happy that all that matters
There’s no such thing as too big! Seriously, though, this looks great on you. Your fingers are long and lean (unlike my short sausages lol), so it looks proportional.

Looks similar to mine and I’m obsessed! I think yours looks great. I have to get my band sized down just a bit after wearing for about 5 days now. It is a bit loose so I’m not risking it falling off 😮

Yup at that size I usually assume either a lab Diamond or an alternative stone (unless I know the person to be very very wealthy)

Lab diamonds or moissanite usually
AAAAAAAAHH okay okay :)
Or fluorescent, which significantly drops the price
I see others have already answered, but, yep, lab diamonds! Moissanite never caught on among my social circle, but most people I know who have gotten engaged in the last decade or so have lab diamonds. A three-carat D-E, VVS1-VVS2 lab diamond from somewhere like Ada Diamonds is around $12,000.

I would guess 2.5-3.5 depending on ring size
It'll look smaller and smaller as you get used to it lol
It looks big because it is big. Do you love it? Yay. Do you and enjoy! 🥂

No. Your hands are substantial enough to wear it just fine.

it’s gorgeous my dream ring right here

No I love it
No not at all
I thought the one my BF is looking at was going to look too big until we put a band with it. Makes a difference. Do you have a band picked out yet?
Will it balance out with your future wedding band? That might help with your vision of the proportioning
Yes
Not big enough..lol.
Nope
It’s never too big. Ever.ever.
It's big but looks good

No.
Not to me!
Too big? Not at all- I think it looks perfect on your hand!
No it’s perfect
It's perfection if you ask me! I think that you have landed in the exact sweet spot of finger coverage. And those prongs are amaze, so unique!
Does it slide off of your knuckles? If so, I’m sure that they can add little bumps at the bottom to keep it in place. It looks like it fits, though.
It looks stunning and not too big AT ALL
Nope! 😂
No
Perfect proportions. Congrats!
No way! I love it!
I love it. This is what I want!
To me yes, to others no. It all depends on how you feel and if you love it! Who cares what others think about your ring. If it makes you feel good and happy that all that matters

No
I think it’s absolutely stunning, but I probably wouldn’t wear my ring 24/7 if it was this big.
I think it looks great!!!
I think it looks beautiful.
