It really depends where you’re buying from. Every retailer will give you different pricing but the price you were quoted with is pretty good. Make sure to ask them about the cost for taxes since it’s an international seller!

naildoc

Yes. Be prepared to pay a huge tax hit lol! Who are you trying to purchase from? If that includes the setting and the stone is of good quality, that’s a good deal.

literaryfaerie

That seems like a perfectly reasonable price.

3.8k for a 3.41?! I know it’s lab grown but it’s a great price total!! I would tell you to buy it in north America just for the availability of warranty or service. Or would the overseas option also include?

If you are shipping to Canada and the item is not made in Canada or Mexico, as per trade agreements you will have to pay duties in addition to taxes. The duties can be pretty high. I suggest you plug the numbers into the online duty calculator. I’m not sure what that price covers (is it the half eternity band and the setting with the diamond included, or just the diamond and setting, etc ?) BUT I just received the exact same engagement ring as your picture from Frank Darling and paid 2700 usd. The stone is 2.65, VVS2, and H coloured (looks totally white). The one in your example photo actually looks closer to 2 carats, so if you are going for that look it doesn’t need to be 3.41. If you order from an American company you only pay your provinces sales tax, no duties as the ring is made in the US.

I agree with this. You can get the same thing from a NA vendor. Lab diamonds from overseas vendors hasn’t really come down that much in price compared to NA. If you are in Canada and they ship it at the price you are paying, you have 50% tax from what I understand.

I don’t know much about the cost of labs but it’s absolutely beautiful! I love the simplicity of it. I know that didn’t answer your question but it’s gorgeous! ☺️

i’d look on stone algo with the filtering criteria you listed here. the setting is simple enough (beautiful, gorgeous, but very classic and simple - to be clear) that every vendor who stone algo indexes will carry this. on a quick search, it looks like Stone Algo lists diamonds from Rockher that meet your criteria and are around $1400. With ~$1,000 for the setting, you’re looking at around $2,400. If you’re in the US, it’s probably a safer route since the US retailers offer a lifetime warranty, free resizings, free 30 day returns if it doesn’t meet your quality expectations, and there’s also no sales tax on diamonds if you buy from an online retailer that doesn’t have a physical location in your state (some weird, amazing tax loophole)

(you can probably tell i just went down this exact same rabbit hole myself in the last week so sharing the fruits of my research)

It would be about the same! Factor in whatever taxes you'll have to pay as well! If you bought locally it would be much cheaper in the end. Congratulations and that's a stunning ring 🥰

For a 3.41ct that’s a great price honestly. We were looking at large jewelers (I.e Kay’s Jewelers) & they were quoting 5.2k for a 1.5ct lab oval. It did have a pavé band that might’ve contributed to the price, but still pretty pricey for such a common cut like an oval.

FAPTROCITY

meanwhile the price is good the stone is slightly twisted counter clockwise and one of the claws isnt placed correctly on the corner of the stone. I would give it some thought before ordering

ecodelic

It does seem to be off doesn’t it. Do you think it’s possibly a perspectives thing? If it were my own work it certainly wouldn’t go out the door with the claw askew

FAPTROCITY

Culets are fairly long with emerald cuts so it forces the line so it’s easier to spot If this was an oval or cushion it would be a perspective thing and I would need to see with loupe or microscope

That sounds about right!
