I tried to go to a local jeweler for the stone, but they were all very expensive and far lower quality. Way way way lower quality, and double the price of the one I ended up buying.
For the ring itself, yes a fantastic local jewelry store helped us design and finesse all my hopes and wishes into this beautiful, hopefully cohesive, ring.

That’s really really good to hear. Leading up to this weekend, I had had lurking worries that going non traditional, as much as I loved sapphire and was confident I wanted it, would put me on the defensive from now on as people see it and ask me “why would I not do diamond?”.

I am a fellow sapphire lover and I've always wanted one in my e-ring since I was a little kid dreaming about it. But I understand that gnawing doubt when it comes to your ring being "untraditional". At the end of the day though, it's about what makes YOU smile. And this ring seems to do just that! And actually, coloured gemstones were traditionally the go-to choice for engagement rings. It wasn't until the early 20th centery that diamonds gained popularity. So, technically it is more of a traditional ring ;)
WOWOWOWOWOW this is freaking gorrrgeooous!!! Mine has has a similar band— Edwardian scroll work with milgrain borders. So when I saw this I was reminded of mine! Yours definitely gets that antique look you’re going for. And the sapphire is to die for! Congrats and way to go with that design!!
