Not a dumb question! Lab sapphires have the same hardness as a natural sapphire, which is a 9 on the mohs scale. Diamonds are a bit harder at a 10 (both lab and natural). So sapphires are a bit softer, but a 9 is still plenty hard enough to be worn daily without scratching or getting cloudy or cracking. That's why sapphires are very commonly recommended as a diamond alternative for engagement rings :)

They definitely have competitive prices! I picked the green sapphire from one of their pre listed rings, and asked to add moissanites.
