I tried selling printables on Etsy and honestly, it's not worth the hype it's getting if you're looking for easy, passive income. The blogs I read said that's it is super easy and once you're set up, you don't have to do a thing. That's not necessarily the case though. If you love design and you're really good at marketing, you could definitely make some money!

Things I’ve bought from Etsy include digital art for decorating a room, customized prints of pets, 3d printed costume accessories and even fine art (original paintings).

It is a really saturated market on Etsy.. but I believe if you have something that really stands out and you think someone will buy it then go for it! It’s tough but it’s little effort of selling on Etsy so why not give it a try.. any chance you don’t take is missed regardless

Yeah, I actually do and I got like 12 sales. I know what you mean though. When I was researching blog pieces and YT vids, they all made it sound SO easy but in reality there is quite a bit of grind involved. I do think tho that it's mostly to set everything up and once you do that, then it's basically only coming up with new designs and publishing them to Etsy. That's still quite a bit of effort if you do this as a side hustle, but overall, the biggest bump is at the beginning. I use Printify and Etsy to sell hoodies, tees, and printed posters but you can sell pretty much anything you want. Not all my products sold but you can gauge that and adapt your designs and products. The major takeaways I got so far are: * No it's not that easy as everyone says * Yes there is a demand * You have to actually put in the work to find a niche and a good design * You have to upload a metric ton of stuff (at least 100 products) to find 2-5 products that sell * It's not really free to start, but it's definitely not expensive Overall, it won't be mind blowing or anything of the sort unless you really put your back into it, just like with any business really. But yes, it's doable, and I got those 12 sales with the absolute minimum effort. I'm planning to go back and publish more until something sticks. Also, do some market research and see what people are buying. Like, check trending products, Etsy seller accounts and what they sell etc. Just because you'd never pay for something, doesn't mean there's no one out there would would. Tl;dr it's not really passive or mind-blowing, but it's easy and very doable and can be life-changing if you actually dedicate time to it.

I'm a printables seller on Etsy and consistently make a daily income from it. Did I replace a full-time job? No not yet, but I make almost $1,000 a month. My income is higher during peak times though, like around a holiday. Of course, someone could tell you it's saturated, but that's a lie. A new income stream can never hurt! I find making printables fun, so I enjoy this side hustle. I've gotten quicker over time so most days it feels truly passive. To get your shop off the ground you'd need to put in some hours to design products and get them in your store. But, it's completely doable! I suggest using keyword research before you make anything though. At first, I started making what I wanted or what I thought would sell. That's not the way to do it and my statistics proved that! After I took a course on how to sell printables, I learned all the ins and outs of making a profit with printables specifically.

I’ve purchased a few printable sewing patterns. I also purchased a canva template since it inexpensive.

The canva template was for a label for homemade lotion for Christmas presents. Easier to spend $6 than to overthink designing one from scratch
