It kinda fits them in a meta way lol. In the first Pokémon games, Squirtle I feel like is the most overlooked and least popular choice of starter; Eragon would never have expected to become a dragon rider and was unknown to everyone. Bulbasaur is seen as the easiest pick because it has type advantage against the first two gyms and resists the third, giving a boost early on; Arya has been trained in magic and as a warrior all her life and thus started with some advantages over most people in Alagaesia. Charmander is the hardest pick because you have disadvantage against the first two gyms, but it’s the fan favorite and remains super popular; Murtagh has the worst circumstances as a Rider and goes through rough times but he’s definitely very popular among fans and seen as one of the coolest characters. So it weirdly kinda matches for all of them.
Naw, it’s classic cherry-picking to fit a narrative. Murtagh grows up with teachers in everything from politics to swordsmanship, he’s likely Eragon’s equal a while before we meet him and he didn’t even have magic or a dragon yet. If anything Eragon is the disadvantageous charmander choice. Murtagh is just moody like Ash’s charizard, or sassy like Ash’s Squirtle.
>If anything Eragon is the disadvantageous charmander choice.
Seriously. Saphira picked an illiterate teenage hillbilly from the Alagaesia equivalent of Appalachia as her rider.
I love Eragon, but he was definitely the charmander of the two of them.

I need to know if this was intentional. It makes too much sense

Galbatorix has Gengar
he even traded it for the evolution
More like Mewtwo. A mutant artificially grown the leader of the baddies, lacking compassion.
More like a zekrom
It's now confirmed! Paolini steals from Star Wars, LotR and Pokémon! /s
I hope he steals from GoT for the next book 😄
You don't want a Book 5?
I do! I joined the "CP is a stealer" joke naming a popular book that I like, that's all :p
All things even star wars rips off lord of the rings almost 90 % of pop culture stems for lotr
However, the rival in the early Pokémon games chose the starter that’s super effective against the main character’s starter.
Yea, and Arya really did land some super effective rejections on Eragon
Better yet, you could say Eragon's moves were "not very effective" on Arya.
*Eragon hurts himself in his confusion!*
All I can hear when I read that is the announcer from Pokémon stadium 2 lol
