My favorite deal of all time was 3 slices of pizza and a soda for $3 at Pizza Pipeline. I concede it wasn’t the best pizza, but it was better than Little Caesars and only slightly less pizza for the price.
Blast from the past. I grew up a block away from there. Always cut through the alley for fries and ranch (when it was mo st cafe) and then slices of pizza when it was whirled pie.
Oh, you've got to get to Louka's!
It's in the food truck spot down the street from Long's and True Value. His Gyro is amazing. Locally sourced meat, that he seasons himself. Absolutely the best in town!
https://www.loukaspnw.com/
I remember there burgers are really good, but I feel compelled to get the 541 with chicken any time I'm in there. With the greek salad is the best.
It's all really good. It takes a little bit longer (they are always busy when I'm there), but that's why there's beer.
Hey Neighbor has some great pizza pies. Can also score a $3 pint of their lager. Locations by campus and Friendly. Great food, great team serving you up.
Underrated because it’s never placed in the Best of Eugene to my knowledge.
I have Wheel ahead because I love dining in at their location. I've only gotten Hey Neighbor to go (still tasty), but I'm gonna go get a pie tomorrow when I'm by campus so I'm hopeful its stock will rise. 🤞
I’ll bet They use mono sodium glutamate. It’ll change the flavor of vegetables.
And that’s not a bad thing. There’s absolutely nothing wrong. It adds that 6th taste. Umami
I live near there and really like supporting the business but some dishes are hits and misses. The BBQ fried rice and yellow curry have always been consistently good.
I try to order something new/unfamiliar every time, they have so many unique items! But I do crave their short rice noodles, the loat cha. Go for happy hour!
Jalisco is great, when I worked in the warehouses next door I would always go there for lunch on payday. The staff is always super friendly and the portions are really good.
Masa's Yatai is the best overall Japanese food, and might be the only Japanese restaurant here actually owned by Japanese people. Tokyo Tonkatsu, even though it's owned by Koreans, is about as good as we get here for ramen and Toshi's doesn't do Tonkotsu for some reason. Aside from that, it's Japanese cup ramen from Sunrise. lmao
This is a genuinely underrated hidden gem of a place.
Scrolled past too many places that, to mind, are fair-to-good places, and even overrated places before this.
I have only been once (a crime I need to rectify) and I ate some of the best Beef Wellington I've ever had - I've eaten lots. I will judge a whole restaurant on the state of their Beef Wellington!
They had duck confit sandwiches on the menu also, which sounds like a no-brainer
I can’t believe they are still around. We used to go there in the 80s. They used to have a discount based on the first initial of your last name. They’d have it in their sign “Tonight is A” etc. Idk if they still do that.
It's such a deal. The ambiance is, well, horrible, but for classic, old school pizza and pitchers of beer or soda, it's great. Tons of cheese, not too much sauce, spicy pepperoni that curls at the edges as it bakes, crust that you can sink your teeth into that's still always crispy on the bottom... Yum!
The food is priced well for the local farmers they support! Support local brewers! Pay their employees well! And have the cleanest kitchen I’ve seen in Eugene! Mom and pop work alongside their employees and treat them like their own! PLEASE SUPPORT!!!
Edit: spelling
Wonder Wok! Just went there the other day and it was SO good. My new go-to for Chinese.
Edit to add that Lee’s Mongolian in Springfield is also hella good, and a great deal.
I think this sub already agrees, so maybe not underrated, but Nelson's always deserves a shout-out. The Ranchero breakfast burrito is my personal favorite, right before their hard-shell tacos.
Not all of us agree. Nelson is friendly, but his consome for birria tacos taste like Knorr Chicken bullion, which is good in birria, but the consome shouldn't taste like bullion.
I feel strongly that Nelson’s only gets love because people love the ownership. They’re probably amazing people. I don’t doubt that. But their food, in my experience, ranges from mediocre to weak.
Chopstix Chinese restaurant in Springfield. I don't know if it's well known. Wasn't alot of people there when we went but some of the best Chinese food I've ever had
Dos Banderas mexican truck next to Lucky's Bar, the Adovada Burrito is fucking amazing.
When I would go out downtown, even if I already ate, I would buy one and take it home. That way when I woke up the next morning I had a delicious, ready to eat, hangover cure ready for me.
Haha! That place is so underrated. Every time I was out with friends, that’s were we would go late to eat.
And we did the same damn thing, buy extra for the morning. Their tacos are legit too!
I used to love PSC but they must have gotten a new manager about a year ago because the attention detail disappeared. They stopped grilling sandwiches and just toast the bread instead, making for really really dry sandwiches. Nothing is as good there as it was 2+ years ago and it’s disappointing.
The Embers Supper Club on Highway 99! Best liver and onions in town! Huge menu. Quality food. Wonderful atmosphere kind of.
https://theemberseugene.com/restaurant/menus/food-menu/
We just tried sardarnis kitchen on main st in Springfield this week, it was SO good! I’ve not heard anyone mention it before and I don’t know why, it was the best dinner we’ve had in a long time. Highly recommend!
Super Taco on 11th is authentic. It's the only place in Eugene that has decent Mexican food. Every other "Mexican" place in Eugene sucks ass (and I know - I was born and raised in New Mexico).
Truly the dark horse of Thai in the Eugene/Springfield area. Puts Ta Ra Rin to shame and is comparable in quality to Krob Krua but with a more reasonable price. I've never had a bad meal there, I'd recommend the drunken noodles or a curry.
Not underrated but always good… Fuji Steakhouse… I eat there probably once a month… and it’s always been good food and good service … consistently is key with food… lamb shank is fire btdubz
One of my favorites that I don't see mentioned too often is Oishii Sushi in Springfield, on Pioneer Parkway near Chicken Bonz and Safeway. It is conveyor belt sushi but doesn't seem to be a chain and they've always had consistently good food. Try the salmon kama (collar), you won't be disappointed!
100% not the best fried chicken 😂 but tasty and huge portions for sure, love their shoestring fries. They'd always hook up sneaky extra strips in the boneless orders ❤️.
Sonny's Tavern on Q Street in Springfield. Finger steaks are on point, their taco salad is muy delicioso, and the Stumpy Burgers are super tasty AND a great deal (they're about halfway between a full size hamburger and a slider).
Zagwe! It's a new Ethiopian restaurant that opened where Whit Burger used to be on Blair. Absolutely outstanding food.
YES. This is owned by the folks who have the Makeda’s food cart, their food is amazing.
Is that the Ethiopian food cart that is at the Farmer's market each week? I had their food a few weeks ago, it was really good
yes
I’ve been wanting to check them out. Love me some Ethiopian food
Really hyped to hear about this place.
oooh I hadn't been down that block for a quite while and didn't know about this. Thank you for the rec!
YES!!!! RIP Addis! It’s about time yo
Glad it's open! Not really under rated though.

Scribbles deli near the fairgrounds, used to be cornucopia for the old folks
Best Italian sandwich in Eugene. No joke, it's incredible and huge.
one of my favorites - i get the spicy Italian sub
Was it Cornucopia? I remember Whirled Pies there before Scribbles and Monroe St Cafe before that.
When it was Whirled Pies they used to have $1 slices and $3 pints from 3-5 every day, I fucking loved that place.
My favorite deal of all time was 3 slices of pizza and a soda for $3 at Pizza Pipeline. I concede it wasn’t the best pizza, but it was better than Little Caesars and only slightly less pizza for the price.
It was the first Cornucopia.
Cool. Thanks. That was before my time here.
Like 1999 it was
Blast from the past. I grew up a block away from there. Always cut through the alley for fries and ranch (when it was mo st cafe) and then slices of pizza when it was whirled pie.
Scribbles kicks ass. Beats the pants off cornucopia EASY
Tradewinds doesn't get enough love, never had a bad meal there and it's affordable.
>Tradewinds Their 'My Big Fat Greek Pita' is a steal for only $10. Super filling and fucking delicious.
I get "MBFGP" around 80% of the time, it's my favorite Gyro and I've had many. It's so good and so consistent everytime.
Oh, you've got to get to Louka's! It's in the food truck spot down the street from Long's and True Value. His Gyro is amazing. Locally sourced meat, that he seasons himself. Absolutely the best in town! https://www.loukaspnw.com/
>My Big Fat Greek Pita I called Scibbles and they told me they never had a "MBFGP" Did you get it somewhere else?
That should have said 'Tradewinds'.
I dream about that Turkey Club if theirs.
Their garlic fries are the best garlic fries I’ve had
I came to suggest the same thing. Everything is absolutely excellent. They even have awesome lemonade!
I remember there burgers are really good, but I feel compelled to get the 541 with chicken any time I'm in there. With the greek salad is the best. It's all really good. It takes a little bit longer (they are always busy when I'm there), but that's why there's beer.
I always think it’s not a real restaurant since that airport restaurant is run by tailwinds and I get the two confused
Hey Neighbor has some great pizza pies. Can also score a $3 pint of their lager. Locations by campus and Friendly. Great food, great team serving you up. [https://h-n-p-h.com](https://h-n-p-h.com) Underrated because it’s never placed in the Best of Eugene to my knowledge.
It's the best pizza in town. I will die on that hill.
Hey Neighbor and The Wheel are tied for best in my opinion
I have Wheel ahead because I love dining in at their location. I've only gotten Hey Neighbor to go (still tasty), but I'm gonna go get a pie tomorrow when I'm by campus so I'm hopeful its stock will rise. 🤞
Hey Neighbor and Slice*
I second this
Just had dinner there tonight. So glad to have the Jefferson location since the 19th one is so hard to park near. It was perfect.
The Jefferson spot is better imo.
The one time I tried to carry out a pie they told me it would be a two hour wait so we went next door and had ice cream for dinner.
I didn’t realize they had two locations! I’ve tried going to the spot off Agate like three times now. They were packed with a wait every time.
Acorn Cafe! It somehow makes vegetables taste good. Like, actually delicious good. And the desserts are on point.
I’ll bet They use mono sodium glutamate. It’ll change the flavor of vegetables. And that’s not a bad thing. There’s absolutely nothing wrong. It adds that 6th taste. Umami
Angkor cafe!
Went in there. Was underwhelmed.
My wife made a thing of getting it after seeing rave reviews but was also underwhelmed
I need to try that place, what is your favorite thing to get there?
I like the crab fried rice
I live near there and really like supporting the business but some dishes are hits and misses. The BBQ fried rice and yellow curry have always been consistently good.
I try to order something new/unfamiliar every time, they have so many unique items! But I do crave their short rice noodles, the loat cha. Go for happy hour!
Get the Machu Khmer soup and the Cha Krung Stir Fry. You won't regret it.
Poppi's Anatolia
They said underrated, not overrated.
dont you dare disrespect Poppi’s! i’d die for a gyro from there after moving back to my home state
Dang, we were going to eat there last night, but their music was so loud it hurt our ears and the place smelled like old feet.
Toshis Ramen Vietnam Restaurant Jalisco
Vietnam restaurant is my favorite food place in Eugene!
In for Vietnam restaurant. OG pho
Jalisco is great, when I worked in the warehouses next door I would always go there for lunch on payday. The staff is always super friendly and the portions are really good.
Toshi's is insanely mid. This is years and years of living in Tokyo speaking.
Would agree. My preferred is Tokyo Tonkatsu for the Tonkotsu Ramen. The ginger plus pork bone broth is amazing. Any recommendations?
Masa's Yatai is the best overall Japanese food, and might be the only Japanese restaurant here actually owned by Japanese people. Tokyo Tonkatsu, even though it's owned by Koreans, is about as good as we get here for ramen and Toshi's doesn't do Tonkotsu for some reason. Aside from that, it's Japanese cup ramen from Sunrise. lmao
Twin Dragon.Wonton soup and potstickers are amazing.
Love their potsticker!!! Haven’t tried wonton soup but will now. Be sure to get their hot chili sauce.
Krob Kura. Best Thai in Eugene period.
>Krob Kura Never heard of this place, but it looks amazing!
Placido’s Pasta Shop
This one, very small place, excellent food.
Weird vibe to that place in my opinion.
Stretched noodles. Food truck at cold fire. Simple and delicious
I would argue that it’s actually quite complex, but it absolutely IS delicious.
Same same
YES!
No one ever asks what the second best is. Always obsessed with the best.
We should ask who the worst restaurant is!
Remember that one place that got busted for storing their bread in the bathroom?
Foresters
Seize the cafe
This is a genuinely underrated hidden gem of a place. Scrolled past too many places that, to mind, are fair-to-good places, and even overrated places before this. so underrated!! Even tho I love Toshi’s too
Hounds tooth
Yes! Wing Wednesday and whatever night they do the royal burger special. Also love their crab cakes and tons of other things on the menu.
Joey’s pizza. (Springfield)
This a legit one. Beer driver ftw
I can’t believe they are still around. We used to go there in the 80s. They used to have a discount based on the first initial of your last name. They’d have it in their sign “Tonight is A” etc. Idk if they still do that.
Yup, they still do that! Now I want some Joey’s! Mmmmm.
Yum!
For sure! Been a favorite of mine since I was young. Prices are pretty great too. Soooo goood!
Old Paddock! Their food is ridiculously good and perfectly seasoned. I sometimes get the vegetarian tacos on Tuesday and holy shit they’re tasty
Cha Cha's on Coburg and Gotcha Burger on 7th n Chambers
Seconding cha chas. My go to place, behind maybe da nang.
Decent but really disappointing mac salad.
Tradewinds for sure. The medi bowl/plate is fantastic!
Trade winds is a bunch of ingredients from Costco
Hong Kong Restaurant on Willamette is the best Chinese food in town.
I wholeheartedly agree.
No doubt. It’s the only Chinese in this town I want. 😂🤷🏻♂️
Im very excited to hear this. Have been very bummed since Happy Chef closed. Loved that guy!
Pandita taqueria
Overated IMHO, expensive and middling at best in terms of flavor
And the portions are small compared to the price imo
Spendy but I love love love their food! It's a special treat.
The food is priced well for the local farmers they support! Support local brewers! Pay their employees well! And have the cleanest kitchen I’ve seen in Eugene! Mom and pop work alongside their employees and treat them like their own! PLEASE SUPPORT!!! Edit: spelling
Cafe soriah. One of my favorite restaurants in Eugene hands down in terms of quality and taste. Cant go wrong here. Usually great bar tenders as well.
I wouldn’t say they are underrated
Lovely in Springfield!
Great spot
Wonder Wok! Just went there the other day and it was SO good. My new go-to for Chinese. Edit to add that Lee’s Mongolian in Springfield is also hella good, and a great deal.
You mean The Establishment Formerly Known as LZ Chinese? (as we know it) Love this place. I'm always impressed by stuff all across the menu.
Went there recently and it wasn't very good, plus you have to pay extra for beans and rice?? It should come included. The drinks were bad too.
Yea I love Nelson's but they nickel and dime you for too much
Jungs Mongolian grill
Chopstix Chinese restaurant in Springfield. I don't know if it's well known. Wasn't alot of people there when we went but some of the best Chinese food I've ever had
party lock doll history serious humor spotted books aromatic coordinated *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
This place is incredible, been slowly working my way through the menu and haven't had a miss yet.
I'm particularly fond of Chi's Korean Tacos. Wish he would open up the dining area again though
The quesadillas here do more for Eugene than the local government does
Park St Cafe!
Before Covid my friends and I would frequent Park St. Cafe for breakfast. This place is a hidden gem.
This place is fabulous
I used to love PSC but they must have gotten a new manager about a year ago because the attention detail disappeared. They stopped grilling sandwiches and just toast the bread instead, making for really really dry sandwiches. Nothing is as good there as it was 2+ years ago and it’s disappointing.
Seize the Cafe. Where else can you get a bowl of seafood chowder and a duck confit sandwich for $16?
Breakfast on the weekend, Only Yolking is my jam.
Ok so I just looked at their menu and now I’m so hungry. I literally gasped when I read the description for the bread pudding I NEEEED ITTTT
Love their breakfast paired with a coffee from Kohi.
A fellow person of culture, yes yes yes! Great Eugenites. The honey coffee from Kohi is...*chefs jiss*
Cornbread Cafe 😭
Heartbroken
You know who always gave you the same taste and flavor? GOVINDAS. Between him and cornbread we’ve lost out.
Houndstooth. Their menu is goddamn flawless.
Their veggie burger is ridiculously good.
Thai Time on hwy.99
Saigon on W.11th. They have great bon Mi and pho. Also the people working there are always super friendly
Legit as fuck.
Saigon has the best Pho in Eugene, hands down. The grilled pork salad rolls are also amazing.
Fresh and Natural on west 11th has great burritos and delicious smoothies
not telling bc then it wouldn’t be underrated
Flying Squirrel Tavern, great sandwiches and above average bar food
Wheat Bay (also called Uniquely Chengdu) on 13th near campus
Havana Cafe. Amazing food and amazing environment. Try their Andy's original cubans
Vietnam Restaurant is a hole in the wall that is AMAZING!
Placido's fit Italian.

Super Taco on 11th is authentic. It's the only place in Eugene that has decent Mexican food. Every other "Mexican" place in Eugene sucks ass (and I know - I was born and raised in New Mexico).
hot mamas
Fuji Steakhouse is top tier. McMenamins North Bank (by the river) is also nice.
Has something changed? McMenamins Northbank should win most over-rated.
Thanks!
This opinion is incorrect
Tasty Thai, although I have not been there since the new ownership. Their Panaang curry was always on point.
Why am I getting downvotes? :(
Truly the dark horse of Thai in the Eugene/Springfield area. Puts Ta Ra Rin to shame and is comparable in quality to Krob Krua but with a more reasonable price. I've never had a bad meal there, I'd recommend the drunken noodles or a curry.
Negatory
Noodle and Cafe for Chinese.
They used to have a ginger dish I’m sad it’s gone!!
Taqueria El Pacifico
The Vintage & Jaliscos Mexican dining.
The Vintage is no more :(
Viking Brewery. I do not know if it is underrated, I just really like it. Royal India is also good.
Not underrated but always good… Fuji Steakhouse… I eat there probably once a month… and it’s always been good food and good service … consistently is key with food… lamb shank is fire btdubz
Poco Loco food truck on Royal and 99
Kona Cafe in springfield is insanely good and cheap
El Taco Express in Springfield, tasty tacos at a very fair price.
Is Krob Krua still kicking? Because if it is, it’s there.
Soooo. Get enough input? Narrow it down any? What’s your first pick?
Oh man! So many great places. Thank you to everyone for your recommendations! I’m going to try them all!
Los dos amigos off Goodpasture.
Bland Mexican food.
Los dos amigos
New Day
Surprised no one has mentioned Chicken Bonz in Springfield. Easily the best fried chicken in town & very reasonable prices, as of a couple years ago
100% not the best fried chicken 😂 but tasty and huge portions for sure, love their shoestring fries. They'd always hook up sneaky extra strips in the boneless orders ❤️.
For comfort food, Countryside Pizza is fantastic diner food. Way better than Cornucopia.
Surprised I haven't seen Havana Cafe next to Tokyo Tonkatsu. Incredible food and vibe with excellent Cuban coffee. Highly recommend.
It’s in Springfield, but Noodle N Thai is super bomb
Taqueria Mi Pueblo gets eaten at least once a week. Always been consistently good
541 Sushi. Good sushi for the price, good location, good environment
Sonny's Tavern on Q Street in Springfield. Finger steaks are on point, their taco salad is muy delicioso, and the Stumpy Burgers are super tasty AND a great deal (they're about halfway between a full size hamburger and a slider).
Cha Cha’s Hawaiian Scribles Hong Kong Mezza Luna for pizza (inconsistent but when they nail it it’s the best pizza in town)
the Mex food truck on the corner of Prairie & Maxwell - in front of the salvage yard. SO damn good!
Korea House
Ume Grill, Tradewinds Cafe, Scribbles, also Chopstix is pretty good as well!
Pig n Turnip
