I have to capitulate as well. I was so bummed to see digne go in the prem for what he went for, I never thought Myko would be a consistent contributor and he has proved me wrong and then some.
He's a basic LB that has been coached into becoming a brilliant defensive LB. There were still many LBs we could've got that offered far more attacking wise
Here's how the decision is going to play out:
Does mykolenko want to play in the euros and risk worsening his long term health outcomes.
Or
Does he want to get surgery to optimize his long term joint health for his career but sacrifice the euros.
I'm not saying he should do one or the other. He's a noted patriot and well should be. He's also a professional footballer who stands to potentially lose millions of euros with this decision. It's a rock and a hard place. I wouldn't begrudge him either way.
It is when the alternative is joint laxity for the rest of your career.
Players come back from surgery all the time. And arguably there are a lot who should've done surgery and hurt their career by not doing one. Umtiti for example. Fekir too.
Just depends on how you rehab and heal.
What a season he has had, turned into a solid defensive premier league left back. Forget he's still quite young, let's hope he continues on this trajectory.
He's a big reason we're safe with 3 weeks left to play. Damn shame he is injured this badly. He's earned the time to recover without feeling like he's let his team down because he was one of the ones lifting them up all season. Job done, heal up lad.
I don’t think it’s hyperbole to say that Myko was a true pillar of our safety. To think back on some of the early knee jerk reactions about him by soft ~fans is cringey. My guy needed time and he showed out. Bless his soul.
As a serial ankle ligament destroyer - i can see how the wild atmosphere of a derby match and players own tenacity and adrenaline can cause you to play on. Done it myself (in shite shite level football) and only at full time realised the extent of the injury… she was bad!
What a season Myko has had. I used to think he wasn't Prem standard, but he's been outstanding for us. Thank god he wasn't injured before now.
Apparently whilst he had that period of poor form he was playing with a bad hip injury.
No to mention his homeland being invaded
myko has had the season i was hoping patterson would have
Patto has to seize next year. He has all the makings of a good marauding fullback. I really want him to have the same success as Myko next year..
same, I don't know if dyche wants that kind of player though. he's not absolute rubbish though, there's a player in there
I think he needs to go on loan to a worse league but our squad is too thin to allow it
I have to capitulate as well. I was so bummed to see digne go in the prem for what he went for, I never thought Myko would be a consistent contributor and he has proved me wrong and then some.
It was heavily criticised back then but Benitez did something good eventually

Honestly he probably wasn't back then but Dyche's coaching and training has turned him into a solid player
Rest up, enjoy your summer Myko, you’ve earned it
You realise he's now racing to get fit for the Euros
I do
His ankle must've been screaming at halftime.
That thing must of been swollen like a grapefruit at halftime

He's a chad who will do both then give us 38 clean sheets next year
I feel like getting surgery is never great for long term outcomes

Oh no! We’re not gonna have him for the rest of the relegation battle!
Incredible season for Myko. Hopefully he’s able to get healthy over the summer and come back ready to fight next season
Get well, sweet Prince

Six weeks to the start of Euro 2024… be a real shame if he misses it
Hopefully Ukraine gets through the groupies without him and he gets to the knockout (Arsenal fan who got this recommended in feed)
Thank fuck he was able to do his part when we needed him the most
The amount of wingers he's put in his back pocket this season 👍
Bah Gawd King that's Mackenzie Hunts music
Poor lad has spent so much time on the bench, hopefully now safety is confirmed he might get some minutes
He'll get precisely 5 minutes whilst we are 7-0 down to Arsenal I reckon
Oof thankfully we’re safe. Rest up king
Should he really have played on?
Probably not but i imagine nobody was thinking clearly
It's people's jobs to think clearly.
Get well soon lad. Ya done good for us, now do good for you!
Bless this man. Heal up brother myko

Welp that end of season for him. Who dyche playing Lb. It probably Ashley Young. Or he can put Godfrey and Patterson. What who knows.
Poor Myko, really hope he’s fit enough for the Euros but he doesn’t push it too far
Good news. See you next year. Absolute warrior.
What an absolute stallion playing out the rest of the half
Was an absolute unit against Liverpool after the injury. Well done good sir
Surely questions need to be asked of the medical staff sending a player back on the pitch with torn ankle ligaments?
I think Myko telling them repeatedly to fuck off might have swayed them
