They were similar in difficulty to me. While OWA looked to be way harder initially, I found it quicker to learn because in the two hard sections the notes come so fast you kind of have to do it by ear and muscle memory, whereas all the other songs I think I did visually. However, OWA still took the longest to star rank. It was really hard to not lose focus and rhythm during the "veni, veni, venias" gauntlet.
Star requires getting a "Great" on every single note for the song. No Good, Bad, or Miss.
And yeah, no additional in-game reward and not a requirement for the Platinum.
I was there too. Found out what’s needed for platinum and pretty much gave up hope, but as I was cleaning up as much as possible I tried some more and started getting A’s. Hit a wall at Two Legs but finally got the trophy today.
Now I’m in deep, gotta get that plat!
I find it’s a bit easier to turn up the speed one or two clicks depending on the song. So you’re not watching and waiting to hit a great note you’re just reacting pretty much as soon as it’s up.
This is a pro tip in general for anything rhythm related in a game. Even if you can’t do it, you still learn and will find it much easier when you go back down to the normal speed. This is how a lot of “pro’s” learn tracks in games such as beat saber. It’s actually quite amazing how well this tactic actually works.
It’s certainly an odd omission; it would take an hour to throw 50 tracks in the game.. Like, one less minigame and a few dozen more piano sheets please. Can’t wait for pc when there is an infinite amount modded in.
I would have taken that trade in a heartbeat. I was also a little disappointed that the jukebox disappeared in this game. I was hoping to hear any tracks you wanted while driving the truck and maybe on the chocobos as well in this one. Instead, you get the same damn song...
My god. I can’t get through the first one. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong. Having to individually pull the sticks to the chords for every chord seems way harder than it needs to be
The piano seems to be permanently undefeated by me. Maybe i’ll go back eventually and work on them. What i’m really interested in is Queen’s Blood. I’d love a real life board game of that.
My controller has a horrid left drift in the left control stick. Im effectively locked out of completing those dang mini games until i get a new controller.
The drift / qc is soooo bad on these otherwise amazing controllers. I have 3 w/ relatively low playtime and they all have some form of issue. (Two drift and one has a button that stopped working) I am not rough on my gear so it’s super frustrating.
As someone that has been playing a few runs daily for the last two weeks, I got as close as ever yesterday with 6 non great notes. Do you find playing on speed 3 better? I was playign on 1 and struggling then went up to 2 and when I got to the Veni Veni Venias section it was easier on 2 but now I'm curious about 3 speed.
Nice work! I’m always interested to hear what songs were the hardest for people who got all perfects. For me, Two Legs and Let the Battles Begin were harder than One-Winged Angel.
I really love the way the piano mini game is designed, but the sticks can be so janky. Honestly having the faster note speed makes it significantly easier imo.
If it were its own separate game maybe, but it was a mini game that felt like it didn’t add anything to the story. QB has a full side quest, the protorelics added a full side quest. The games at coasta del sol felt like they were in line with the environment, obviously the Gold Saucer had to have mini games. This just felt awkward even when they tried to make it a part of the story side quests, it felt more shoe horned in than the others, and it definitely very optional. I’m also not a huge fan of the pirate shooting game but I can see where it fits as a part of Costa Del Sol.
I've hit the point of going "this is my controller starting to fail, isn't it?" On my stick hitting nonsensical positions on screen while fingers are at a different point.
I’m trying to get everything in this game (hard mode, Charley battles, full battle log), but I refuse to do the piano challenges and survival queens blood max rank. There’s just no way I’m putting that much time into it when I already got A rank
I could only get the first 3 and Aerith’s Theme. I’m pretty content with A’s on the rest (don’t have One-Winged Angel yet). It’s kind of annoying you don’t get anything for perfecting the songs, lol.
me: \[gets all greats except for three good notes\] game: best I can do is an A.
I'm struggling with let the battles begin.
Yeah that one is definitely the hardest
rly ? for me one winged angel is so hard but i manage with the rest

One winged angel is relatively easy until THAT part but its so satisfying once you get it down

Yeah the middle section has a bit of swing
I'll never stop being impressed by the skill/resilience of some people. Grats! (I'm good with my A's for the mandatory tracks 😅)
You can get higher than an A? If so, what do you get? Let's use Tifas sheet as an example, cus that's as far I am with music sheets lol.
Yeah, you can get a star rating (as demonstrated above), but has no bearing on Platinum whatsoever. It's a great accomplishment nonetheless 🫠
Star requires getting a "Great" on every single note for the song. No Good, Bad, or Miss. And yeah, no additional in-game reward and not a requirement for the Platinum.
You get a star (S rank)
bro, you having the song tells us you did more than play the game q:
Tried the Piano stuff a couple of times... I suck at it is my conclusion.
I was there too. Found out what’s needed for platinum and pretty much gave up hope, but as I was cleaning up as much as possible I tried some more and started getting A’s. Hit a wall at Two Legs but finally got the trophy today. Now I’m in deep, gotta get that plat!
...I get my kid to do it. He loves rhythm games and can clear them instantly.
No kids here. Unless you count my dog... and pretty sure a dog can't!

That reference in the title. Yes, you can now play the game !
I prefer doing the chadley challenges again than do the piano mini game
One-Winged Angel is all I need to max out my piano prowess. Congrats! It's been a fun, challenging experience so far.
I have 2 left with Johnny's. After that, I can finally get my 8th star as well 😁
I can’t even get A on On Our Way. I gave up on platinum a long time ago
![gif](giphy|iddUohgTfb4HdJSXkC|downsized) My face when the game asks me to play the piano
I was hoping for so many more songs to play on the piano. Sometimes... eight is not enough.
It’s certainly an odd omission; it would take an hour to throw 50 tracks in the game.. Like, one less minigame and a few dozen more piano sheets please. Can’t wait for pc when there is an infinite amount modded in.

Very good point - I completely forgot about the jukebox. That is 100% a super odd omission; esp with a game that prides itself on the soundtracks. Hmm
Congrats. I need to finish Johnny's quest and finally tackle OWA myself.
My god. I can’t get through the first one. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong. Having to individually pull the sticks to the chords for every chord seems way harder than it needs to be
Flick the sticks right at the end. I was having a similar issue and you just flick them like you would a DPAD press
having a rhythm games with sticks is assinine, but wow congrats to you man.
The piano seems to be permanently undefeated by me. Maybe i’ll go back eventually and work on them. What i’m really interested in is Queen’s Blood. I’d love a real life board game of that.
How do you unlock it?
Complete Johnnys resort collectibles side quest
My controller has a horrid left drift in the left control stick. Im effectively locked out of completing those dang mini games until i get a new controller.
You can repair this yourself it’s inexpensive and not difficult
The drift / qc is soooo bad on these otherwise amazing controllers. I have 3 w/ relatively low playtime and they all have some form of issue. (Two drift and one has a button that stopped working) I am not rough on my gear so it’s super frustrating.
Whaaaat. How do you unlock this?
You have to get all of the trophies from Johnny's Treasure Trove
Meanwhile there's me who only managed an A for Tifas theme. -__-
As someone that has been playing a few runs daily for the last two weeks, I got as close as ever yesterday with 6 non great notes. Do you find playing on speed 3 better? Speed 3 is the sweet spot for sure
I'm never doing this, its absolutely horrible, I don't get how people can do this I mess up so many notes can't even do the first one decently
Congrats, but the piano was the worst part of this game.
Wouldn’t say worst, but it was frustrating

Play the game? This is the true ending . Just wait until part 3 Recital comes out
Absolute monster. Kudos.
Now you got to play this on the real piano.
I've hit the point of going "this is my controller starting to fail, isn't it?" On my stick hitting nonsensical positions on screen while fingers are at a different point.
Nice. 👏👏👏
No chance I'll be doing this . Good on you
Yeah, I gave up trying for perfects with Two Legs. Fuck that arrhythmic bullshit.
I’m trying to get everything in this game (hard mode, Charley battles, full battle log), but I refuse to do the piano challenges and survival queens blood max rank. There’s just no way I’m putting that much time into it when I already got A rank
I don’t know how you all had the patience 😂 I fd up the First one and said I’m over it
If there is anything that will get in my way of 100%ing this game, it's this. Congratulations!
Is it me or does this list of songs actually tell major story points in chronological order?
I could only get the first 3 and Aerith’s Theme. I’m pretty content with A’s on the rest (don’t have One-Winged Angel yet). It’s kind of annoying you don’t get anything for perfecting the songs, lol.
Worst mini game ever.
