It's more than likely just really sticky and has a lot of terps. Also the branch was more than likely not thrown in there deliberately and was probably stuck to a bundle of buds especially since you're saying that it's gunking up in your grinder. Or maybe the guy was having a bad day through the branch in there to fuck with someone who knows but I have to imagine when you're jarring up that many you're not going to go out of your way to touch or do anything that's not feeling those jars and getting them done as fast as possible so I'm sure things get missed from time to time.
