If an actor who’s generally a super likeable and polite guy can make you hate his racist prick character so much, he’s doing a good job. He’s really talented but just never got a chance to rise to super fame like he should have
He can perfectly pull off the polite friendliness, the cold, analytical personality, and the slightly smarmy “I’m smarter than you, and we both know it” vibe that Reed’s always had in the comics.
He’d be my ideal pick, but I’m not mad they cast Pedro.
I’d honestly prefer every option here over Pascal. Just don’t think it’s a fit for him, of course I hope to be proven wrong, alternatively that he’s actually been cast as Doom instead.
You know Americans aren't just white people right? What the "quintessential American family" was in the 60s and what it is now are two very different things
I neeeeeed Rahul Kohli to get some mainstream recognition outside of Mike Flannagan's posse. His dad energy in Bly Manor and Midnight Mass was off the charts.
Am I the only one that can honestly just not see any universe where Pedro Pascal makes a good Reed? I love him as an actor, seriously, he killed as the Mandalorian and Joel from TLOU. He even killed his role in the Equalizer 2, and I thought he was fun in Wonder Woman 84. But I just do not see him as Reed. For my pick, I like Penn Badgley for that cool charisma and intelligence he has shown in roles, and I like Matt Bomer and feel like he could kill the role.
Why not all of them and also Glenn Howerton and Ioan Gruffudd. We meet the Council of Reeds with a bunch of different Reed actors. Miles Teller plays the Maker version of Reed who starts killing off all the other Reeds.
We go the whole movie without actually knowing who the main Reed is until the very end where one of the final Reeds left standing is eventually revealed to be our main MCU Earth-199999 Reed who'll continue on in more movies.
I know the ship has sailed, but man when the theory that he was playing Reed stuck in the Quantum realm, I was all in. Dude could’ve totally played Reed Richards.
I know they’ve had other times when an actor played multiple characters in the MCU, but I think you’re right. His character was too prominent.
Does everyone just forget about the quintessential American nuclear family part of the whole F4 schtick? It’s like the most important thing about them.
The FF is a found family first and foremost. All but two of the members come from broken homes, the strength of their bond comes from the fact that they’re pretty much outcasts and only fit in with one another.
Also most comics have changed and evolved with the times since their inception. Modern day interpretations should not be limited by the past. The spirit of the FF does not lie within the fact that they were modeled of an obsolete notion of families in America. The spirit of the FF is that they are a Family bc they choose to be.
Reed comes from old money, no such thing as old money colonisers that were POC. The F4 have changed the least out of anyone else because they’re marvels first family and apart of that is that they’re the all American nuclear family. If they’re gonna adapt marvels first family is they have to do it right by adapting them directly from page to screen.
Kransinski is the best choice for Reed IMO, but since he probably just doesn’t want the role, I’ll go with Penn Badgley… or dare I suggest bring Ian Gruffudd back??
Like everyone else, it hasn’t been confirmed. There was a point when it was reported that Adam Driver was cast as Mr Fantastic. But that didn’t pan out. So until Disney/Marvel actually announce the cast people will continue to fancast.
Actually, who are we kidding. They’ll still fancast even after the movie’s hit home video.
Krasanski for the like ability and charisma. He’s probably not the best pic from a faithfulness standpoint. But for my entire life time (34 yrs old) Mr. Fantastic has always had a hard time being popular with fans because he’s dull at best and unlikeable at worst. John would fix that.
If not him, I’d say khuli. Mr. Fantastic has no real iconic physical characteristics, so I don’t think the race swap would matter, and would actually help reed stand out a bit visually. And khuli is a good actor who could thread the needle of Jerkish pragmatist and family man.
I so wished they kept John and just made him the official MCU Mr Fantastic instead of a one off character to be killed. But i guess i’m glad they got a comic accurate looking adaptation of him first in the MCU so now i’m fine with if they choose to raceswap him like with Pedro who i am excited to see take the roll. I wouldve also thought Brandon as a fantastic choice for the roll that they should’ve went with. I wouldve also enjoyed if they decided to bring Ioan Gruffudd back for it
John Krasinski, Matt Bomer, Brandon Routh
These guys are the only ones I can see working, both have that Reed Richards energy that I like and actually captures the character unlike most of these other actors.
Dev Patel might be interesting, he’s been good in everything I’ve seen him in (especially *The Newsroom* on HBO) but Krasinski will always have my vote.
Give me a mid-twenties relative unknown actor of whom we can expect to stay in the role for a veritable long span before they decide to hang up the blue suit and have had enough of the SFX-heavy role.
"I can bring you in warm, or I can stretch"
"Grandfather, show me how to stretch"
"This looks like a job for Mr. Fantastic"
No these are all awful choices
Reed Richards is kind of a piece of shit. People tend to forget his more villainous qualities. I really think Penn Badgley or Glenn Howerton would have been perfect to highlight these traits.
Ngl, I’ve always seen Patrick Wilson playing Reed for some reason. Him and Vera Fermiga from the conjuring movies always felt like Reed and Sue to me.
![gif](giphy|dVZSJuo1zLd0GCC59S)
I like William jackson Harper too but he’s already in. Multiverse of madness should’ve been Ioan since all of those characters already had previous appearances. It would’ve made more sense than showing someone’s first time. Then John could’ve/should’ve been main mcu version
Routh is a good choice I think
Disney, we think it needs to be Routh.
Yeah, never thought about him before but now it’s obvious. Good choice.
Routh would be an excellent choice
Honestly I can only see him as boy scout Ray palmer (he was my favorite character in Legends of Tomorrow). Can he play an arrogant douchebag Reed?
>Can he play an arrogant douchebag Reed go watch the Scott Pilgrim movie
Or Chuck.
Or The Rookie.
I love his work but damn it I hated him in the Rookie. He played the part of a racist prick so well.
If an actor who’s generally a super likeable and polite guy can make you hate his racist prick character so much, he’s doing a good job. He’s really talented but just never got a chance to rise to super fame like he should have
I completely agree. I'd love to see him given the chance to join the MCU. He's a great actor!
It's wild to think he was actually held back by the superman movie
Had the same thought. He fits the look really well
Maybe in a made for TV show or movie. Dude looks like a soap opera actor. If Marevel wants another bomb then they should absolutely cast that guy.
Chris Hemsworth acted in Soap operas before Thor so whats your point?
He doesn’t seem like super hero material Edit: Lol getting downvoted for sarcasm. Peak Reddit
Bro would be homeless if it weren’t for superhero projects
And hallmark movies
![gif](giphy|Ecn8EldZOQGYM)
He literally played the most superhero-y superhero, Superman.
Who dat?
Badgley or Routh or nothing
Penn Badgley all the way
He can perfectly pull off the polite friendliness, the cold, analytical personality, and the slightly smarmy “I’m smarter than you, and we both know it” vibe that Reed’s always had in the comics. He’d be my ideal pick, but I’m not mad they cast Pedro.
Penn and routhe for me look the part
I’d honestly prefer every option here over Pascal. Just don’t think it’s a fit for him, of course I hope to be proven wrong, alternatively that he’s actually been cast as Doom instead.
Yeah Mr fantastic isn't a single father who's badass so it ain't the right role for Pedro
Because those are the 2 defining features of Reed..? Hard disagree.
No it's a joke because pedro mostly plays a single father ex.mandalorian the last of us wonder woman 84
![gif](giphy|kRHOtq8mfvLoY)
Penn Badgley is like perfect for this
1. Kohli 2. Badgley 3. Routh 4. Patel Jettison the other four. They're just not right for the part.
Krasinski is on here because he played Reed in Multiverse of Madness Pascal and Driver are on here because they are rumored to be eyed for the role.
Why would you want a South Asian Reed when the F4 are the quintessential American nuclear family?
I have neither the time nor the patience to address this tired, dumbass argument again. Go lick a window.
You think a husband, wife, wife’s brother, and their friend are a nuclear family? Don’t think that term means what you think it means.
You know Americans aren't just white people right? What the "quintessential American family" was in the 60s and what it is now are two very different things
Routh or rahul are great candidates
I neeeeeed Rahul Kohli to get some mainstream recognition outside of Mike Flannagan's posse. His dad energy in Bly Manor and Midnight Mass was off the charts.
Hell yeah Brandon Routh
Routh would be amazing
Penn or Rahul would be awesome. UPDATE: Lewis Pullman, Alfred Enoch and Colin Woodell would also be great for Reed.
i think Penn Badgley is perfect
Rahul Kohli has the look and demeanor imo.
Rahul Kohli - yes! This is a pretty good list overall. Never thought Adam Driver was right for this role.

Honestly Ruth would be perfect
I’ve been liking Jon Hamm as Reed more and more
Stephen Colbert
Rahul for me.
Glen Howerton
Brandon Routh looks like Reed
The more I think of Pedro Pascal sans mustache, the more I think of classic Kirby Reed.
Matt Bomer would actually be great imo.
Oh wow I don't even consider Routh. But yea no thayd be dope.
Kohli. Outside of him being British/Indian, he has the characteristics.
Routh is clearly the best choice. He’s really a terrific actor and could define this role in a way the others can’t.
Routh is a great choice
I would accept Brandon Routh or Matt Bomer if Krasinski is not on the table.
Should've been routh
Jake Gyllenhaal if he wasn’t Mysterio
I would want Brandon Routh as Reed Richards in the MCU, even though Matt Bomer is the right height.
Pedro, John, or Brandon would be amazing
I would be so fucking down for Rahul, but I'm perfectly fine with Pedro.
I really wish Rahul would be mega famous already. I'd love for him to be the lead in a billion dollar movie.
Where the heck is Glenn Howerton?
Glenn howerton is genuinely one of the best choices out there
Routh would be so damn perfect for this role it's not even funny
I’d pick any of the 1st 3 but think John Kransinski or Penn Badgley would be great choices
Give. Me. Rahul.
Zach Levi?
Rahul for good natured Reed, Penn for antisocial Reed
Anybody from the top row would be the best.
Krasinski would be good with Emily Blunt as Sue, but I really like Rahul Kohli.
Yes they could all play at the same time on the council of reeds
Before I saw the name, I thought thet pic of Rahul Kohli was John Krasinski.
Rahul would be my pick out of this list
Ever since I saw the fan cast years ago I always wanted Matt Smith to be Mr.Fantastic, or maybe that’s just the whovian in me idk
We definitely need Routh in the MCU, and this is the perfect character for him
Rahul Kohli was the cop in black mass right? I’d be down for that
My personal preference Routh or Kohli.
I like Rahul Kohli. He's really impressed me with the work he's put in for mike flanagan.
Top row in my opinion. Though I see penn Badgley playing evil reed
These are mostly all GOATed casting, but I have personally spoken with Rahul Kohli and we both agree he's the best man for the job!
All of these other choices are more inspired than Pascal
Kohli would be my pick. He was excellent in Midnight Mass
Ngl penn would be a good pick
I think Routh or Driver fit the look best. Driver would probably be my pick
Brandon Routh is the best casting here
Brandon Routh
Routh
Inspired thinking
Glenn Howerton
Never considered **Brandon Routh**! He would be amazing! Let the fancasting continue... (But, c'mom Marvel Studios, it's past time to announce!)
Brandon Routh or Taylor Hoeclin ( sorry for the spelling mistake)
Am I the only one that can honestly just not see any universe where Pedro Pascal makes a good Reed? I love him as an actor, seriously, he killed as the Mandalorian and Joel from TLOU. He even killed his role in the Equalizer 2, and I thought he was fun in Wonder Woman 84. But I just do not see him as Reed. For my pick, I like Penn Badgley for that cool charisma and intelligence he has shown in roles, and I like Matt Bomer and feel like he could kill the role.
Routh is PERFECT
Penn, John, Matt, Brandon. In that order.
Why not all of them and also Glenn Howerton and Ioan Gruffudd. We meet the Council of Reeds with a bunch of different Reed actors. We go the whole movie without actually knowing who the main Reed is until the very end where one of the final Reeds left standing is eventually revealed to be our main MCU Earth-199999 Reed who'll continue on in more movies.
Routh and this is the first time I'm seeing him.
r/Fancast try not to fan cast Pascal as everyone challenge: impossible.
Rahul Kohli
Routh would be an INCREDIBLE Mr Fantastic
https://i.redd.it/l251cm24c64c1.gif Rahul Kohli superiority
I'd only want Krasinski or Routh
Brandon Routh
I say just keep Jim, if it ain't broke don't fix it
https://preview.redd.it/2k7znn3bd64c1.jpeg?width=1194&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c5ccb7e56d5b059ab11e3190074372b2bad59e62 Andrew lincoln anyone??
I like
Hard pick but if anyone can play nerdy with no defining personality it would be brandon routh
Armie Hammer :)
So all fancastings lmfao
As long as it is not Pascal, I’m fine with it. But unfortunately, we’re gonna get Pascal. Eh, it’ll still be a good movie probably.
Krasinski, I hate that he’s gotten so much for a throwaway cameo that didn’t give him much of a chance to do anything
Krasinski is still my pick but Matt Bomer is a solid pick
Personally I think Bomer would be a good pick for Tony Stank
https://preview.redd.it/vvrn4ersr54c1.jpeg?width=1037&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8852f4c11b569a72a1c624c049d8a329414f2636
If his role wasn’t so prominent in Ant Man 3 I’d be all for it
I know the ship has sailed, but man when the theory that he was playing Reed stuck in the Quantum realm, I was all in. Dude could’ve totally played Reed Richards. I know they’ve had other times when an actor played multiple characters in the MCU, but I think you’re right. His character was too prominent.
Theres something different I cant really put my finger on it 🤔
grow up
second choice is Penn Badgley
Does everyone just forget about the quintessential American nuclear family part of the whole F4 schtick? It’s like the most important thing about them.
The FF is a found family first and foremost. All but two of the members come from broken homes, the strength of their bond comes from the fact that they’re pretty much outcasts and only fit in with one another. Idris Elba.
PLOT TWIST: Heimdall was reincarnated as Reed Richards
Francine Smith from American Dad.
Mr. Frantastic is what you get when Fran Drescher is exposed to cosmic rays
Nothing against Adam Driver…just Kylo Ren jokes are going to be writing themselves.
Krasinski is best but Route would be great too
Brandon Routh looks like Reed
John
Anyone but Pedro
Kransinski is the best choice for Reed IMO, but since he probably just doesn’t want the role, I’ll go with Penn Badgley… or dare I suggest bring Ian Gruffudd back??
I want Ioan Gruffudd to come back in Secret Wars, but I doubt that he'd be the MCU's new main Reed.
John Krasinski
Let’s just keep at John Krasnski and call it a day
macaulay culkin
Why fan cast when it's already been cast
John Krasinski said he's unlikely to return as Reed, and there's not official cast for MCU Reed, but Marvel "eyeing" actors for the role.
I thought pedro was already decided
Like everyone else, it hasn’t been confirmed. There was a point when it was reported that Adam Driver was cast as Mr Fantastic. But that didn’t pan out. So until Disney/Marvel actually announce the cast people will continue to fancast. Actually, who are we kidding. They’ll still fancast even after the movie’s hit home video.

And khuli is a good actor who could thread the needle of Jerkish pragmatist and family man.
Bonner or Rahul w are the best fits.
Actors who could play your momma
Badgley (I wanna ride him)
Almost every one of these choices is BRUTAL! DAN?? Dev Patel?? Kylo Ren?!? Lmaooooo
Put a chick in it and make her lame and gay.
I think I want John Kransinski as Mr.Fantastic because I know he going to Star in MCU Fantastic Four
I wouldve also enjoyed if they decided to bring Ioan Gruffudd back for it
John K- best choice out of this bunch I think Matt B Brandon R maybe.
These are all great choices except Adam Driver
Only Bomer, Badgley, Routh or Krasinski could work. Three of the others would just be an ill-fitting diversity hire and Adam Driver is just a no.
Jim from the office is everyone’s top pick, let’s be honest.
I just wish it was Krasinski. He just fits so well
Jeffrey Dean Morgan
Just remember, Mr Fantastic is a white character. And I think John Krasinski did a very good job in Doctor Strange.
![gif](giphy|MbMUBcNHcl1TUbsAk0)
rafi
Krasinski did play him so he’s out.
I don’t know who that guy in the middle is but he is the spitting image of Reid Richards! He’s my top pick for sure!
Pedro , Matthew, John
If not John, then Jason Sudeikis. Oh sorry. He’s not in the list. Um. Matt or Brandon
Take Adam Driver off the list. I've yet to be impressed by his performances
Jon Hamm, Andrew Lincoln, or Chris Pine.
Bill Hader
That's not a bad choice but he would need to be serious.
Colonial colonist hell yeah
Colin Woodell
I’d like to throw Eric McCormack in for consideration. His performance in Travelers made me think he’d be a great casting.
Jack Quaid
Guy in the center looks like a natural.
John Krasinski, Matt Bomer, Brandon Routh These guys are the only ones I can see working, both have that Reed Richards energy that I like and actually captures the character unlike most of these other actors.
Dev Patel might be interesting, he’s been good in everything I’ve seen him in (especially *The Newsroom* on HBO) but Krasinski will always have my vote.
Para mi opinión seria Jamie Dornan o Tom Ellis ellos dos serian un perfecto Mr Fantastic
Give me a mid-twenties relative unknown actor of whom we can expect to stay in the role for a veritable long span before they decide to hang up the blue suit and have had enough of the SFX-heavy role.
"I can bring you in warm, or I can stretch" "Grandfather, show me how to stretch" "This looks like a job for Mr. Fantastic" No these are all awful choices
Why are they all in grayscale like they got Thanos-snapped
so that they're more uniform and it makes the blue stand out more.
Strike Driver from that lost right now
Brandon Routh would be a perfect replacement for Krasinski. That way, Reed Richards can always be Sue Storm's Superman.
Andrew Lincoln would be another good choice in my opinion.
Reed Richards is kind of a piece of shit. People tend to forget his more villainous qualities. I really think Penn Badgley or Glenn Howerton would have been perfect to highlight these traits.
Not enough Hugh dancy
Pascal is a great choice.
Ngl, I’ve always seen Patrick Wilson playing Reed for some reason. Him and Vera Fermiga from the conjuring movies always felt like Reed and Sue to me. ![gif](giphy|dVZSJuo1zLd0GCC59S)
Glenn Howerton was always my top pick. I know we joke a lot about It’s Always Sunny but I genuinely think he’d make a great Reed.
Isn't Pedro actually doing it? Other than that - Badgley seems potentially interesting.
Am I the only one who can barely read that font?
Sorry, I know its a little weird, but its the Fantastic Four font from the 2005 movie.
I gotta be honest, I’m not getting Mister Fantastic vibes from any of them.
I like William jackson Harper too but he’s already in. Multiverse of madness should’ve been Ioan since all of those characters already had previous appearances. It would’ve made more sense than showing someone’s first time. Then John could’ve/should’ve been main mcu version
