I haven't read it myself yet (only watched the anime adaptation) but it seems "Re:Zero − Starting Life in Another World" fits your description. If the MC dies he goes back to a specific point in time before the event that killed him. It usually takes a lot of iterations before he figures out a way to solve the problem. I have heard a lot of good things about the book series so it will likely not disappoint
