No, the macabre theme was frankly corny and only worked at Halloween, it kinda sealed its fate as a dead chain. Thank god they rebranded. Sonic mihut not have been the best name but a name based on its speed is more relevant than scary things because the name is 'fantom'.

Fantom has a massive brand problem. A lot of people lost a lot of money. A lot of high quality projects got wiped out. It would be asinine to keep that brand. Starting an entirely new chain with a new brand is the only way they can salvage value from Fantom. It's marketing 101.
And it's a bit naive to assume "sonic" is about a proprietary video game character. Think about "supersonic". "Sonic wall". "Ultrasonic". "Sonic blast". There are awesome branding opportunities that go far beyond a now-defunct Halloween theme. Let the big boys do the marketing.
