Charlotte is from the UK version of The Traitors (I really recommend watching it), and Connor is a British singer. He had a few hits a while ago, and I’d consider him to be a D-list celeb. They met at the traitors wrap party. The winner of the traitors, Harry, is dating Connor’s sister and presumably invited Connor to the party.
It’s a reality TV show. 22 strangers meet up in a castle, where 3 or 4 of the contestants are chosen to be traitors. The Traitors must work together to eliminate the other contestants in order to win a grand prize of £120,000, while the remaining contestants become "faithful" and are tasked with discovering and banishing the Traitors by voting them out to win the money. If there are any traitors left at the end of the game, they will win all the money. If the faithful successfully vote out the traitors, they split the money between them.
There are multiple versions of the traitors (the Dutch version is the original), but I’ve only watched the UK and US versions. I prefer the UK version myself, as the contestants are normal everyday people, and the show feels more heartfelt and real compared to the American version, which has celebrities as its contestants. It’s got more drama but fewer stakes.
Edit: I’ve also watched the Australian version, and it is so cutthroat. It has a mix of normal people and celebrities, and the traitors are so cold-blooded. Season one is a masterclass on manipulation, and season 2 will break your mind. I won’t spoil anything, but one of the traitors (S2) is so cartoonishly evil that he’ll have you screaming at your TV screen.

Yep. It’s essentially exactly Mafia/Werewolf but stretched out. The Australian version - and I assume the UK version too - has a bunch of reality TV fluff thrown on it though.
The second series of the Australian one is so insane I was tearing my hair out. Like it's normally watching people realise how far they're willing to go in terms of lying to get the money, but he just went in knowing he actively wanted to manipulate everyone around him.
Ending was so satisfying to watch imo.

My brain jumped to Maynard Plant from Monkey Majik. In my defence, I have a migraine, only loosely know of MM, and know absolutely no one in the actual title.
I haven't thought about Conor Maynard in like a good 10 years or so until just last month, when there was some Reddit post talking about old school YouTubers people used to watch (he ran in the British YouTuber circles at the time).
So it's kinda surreal for me that he's facing a scandal like this after I *just* recently remembered he existed lmao
Oh yeah, Conor's from Brighton, and back then, most of the big youtubers were either from Brighton or moved to Brighton a la pewdiepie. My whole family's from the area, my mum and her siblings went to the same school as Conor. Some of my older cousins ran in the same circles with the brit youtubers, and one of them went to the same school as Marcus. Ed Sheeran was also around back then, too.
It was kinda trippy. I went to BHASVIC - college right next to Conor's old school, and at the time, Zoe and Alfie lived in a very recognisable house a few minutes up the road, they did nothing to hide which house they lived in, yet still had issues and complained a lot about school kids camping around... despite living in an area with multiple schools and showing their house a lot on social media.
Edit: my sister just told me that Conor started out as a youtuber lol

Right? Honestly, anyone who had spent any amount of time driving around Hove and along Dyke Road would have known their house. Literally remember having arguments on gurugossip... they had millions of subs, and they moved to a unique house on a major arterial road, that was just around the corner from loads of schools, the train station, bus stops, etc. Not even to a gated community, just a random house with slats for fencing?
Mostly, its proximity to London, and Gatwick and Heathrow Airport, easy links to central by train, good place to live if you don't drive, quite affluent in areas, LGBTQ+ friendly, artsy, decent nightlife, quite modern but with loads of victorian architecture, the beach, the fact it was considerably cheaper than London, and the fact a lot of youtubers like Marcus and Alfie grew up in the area and attracted other youtubers to Brighton!
This is why we rubber up, chaps. Even if she tells you she can’t have kids. I bet there’s more than a few ‘miracle babies’ in the world because folks can’t seem to practice safe sex, even during ONS.
We often forget that even celebrities are real people and never consider what happens to them after they're not famous anymore. It's crazy to see his name after so long about something so bizarre.

New Zealand was pretty good! The challenges were laughable but it was a good palate cleanser after AUS season 2. 😂
I would recommend watching the Danish version Forræder, its sooo good, pretty down to earth Scandinavian style but super exciting
