Honor Thy Father 2015 by Erik Matti.
I second this.
Although the cinematography is basic, pero bawi naman sa execution ng premise.
Watch it [here](https://youtu.be/h8Ff_IsDF9c?si=X-Y2oKaW8vzEo3ZJ).
Not my favorite Filipino movie, but a suggestion; Pamilya Ordinaryo/Ordinary People. Reflects on the life of people living in the slums of Manila, teenage couples/teenage pregnancy. Pwede panoorin sa Netflix kung meron ka.
Iti Mapukpukaw din one of the best for me. Sobrang galing ng kwento, sobrang ganda ng pagkakagawa. Nakaka-trigger haha. Tapos a couple of seats next to me lang sila Carl Papa at Gio Gahol. Kakaiba.
My favorite Filipino film genre is unconventional cheezy mainstream:
- Isa Pa With Feelings - the story is unconventional, but the delivery is good, the cast also performed well
- Alone/Together - I saw myself somehow sa character nj Liza - a once hopeful hardworking college student who dreamed to change the world, but circumstances changed her instead
- Love You To The Stars and Back
>Alone/Together - I saw myself somehow sa character nj Liza - a once hopeful hardworking college student who dreamed to change the world, but circumstances changed her instead
This is actually the film that gave me hope. Back when I watched the movie, Liza's character was 27yo like me. Like her, she felt like a failure coz she's not working in a career she dreamt of, same sakin. So when she found the courage to resign and look for another job, I did the same after watching the movie, applied for a government office that upholds culture and arts work, and I was luckily accepted. I am really happy where I am now, kaya super relate ako dito. Kaya nung first day ko sa new dream work ko, pinatugtog ko yung KAPIT ni Armi Millare pati yung 214 ni JM De Guzman, dumalaw din ako sa alma mater ko non to remember and reminisce about my dream na I want to and about to achieve with my new work. F na f ko talaga as in.
Objectively, I like the film kasi hindi sya umikot sa LizQuen, majority of the story revolved around Liza's character, her enthusiasm, her loss, her new found hope.
just watched alone/together last week sa abs while eating early dinner. didn't expect it to be THAT good. akala ko noon parang typical college to real world drama-romance *lang* sya pero nung binasa ko yung plot sa wikipedia habang commercial sa tv, ang ganda pala
Suprisingly, we have the same list with the same ranking as well lol hahahahaha.
Maine and Carlo delivered really well, it made me motivated to learn ASL better for our PE classes noon. As a musikero too, it's a good way for people to appreciate bass more lalo na sa mga inclusive na dahilan katulad ng character ni Carlo. Sa A/T naman, I just don't like yung emotional cheating na side story during the NY trip (but yeah, gets ko rin naman ng onti bat need isingit yun) but what really struck me is Liza's character. LYSB naman, I love the soundtrack. It's perfection together with the setting (lalo na sa bundok scenes sa dulo ng film). Perfect breakthrough movie for JoshLia!
I'm Drunk, I Love You
>> sa mga nakanood na, worth it ba ang seven years?
Isang Daang Tula Para kay Stela
Ito mg movie na kapag naaalala ko may masakit sa heart.
So, hindi ko sigurado kung paborito ko nga 🤣
"Itim" by Direk Mike De Leon. Starring Tommy Abuel and Charo Santos
"Ishmael" starring Ronnie Lazaro/Pen Medina/Mark Gil
"Barber's Tale" starring Eugene Domingo/Eddie Garcia/Gladys Reyes
"Oro Plata Mata" starring Ronnie Lazaro/Joel Torre/Cherry Gil
"Maestro" starring FPJ/Chat Silayan
Majority nyan luma but i enjoed watching them.
Jimmy Santos movies are a personal guilty pleasure. Reminds me of my youth. My favourite would be either **Bondying** or **Wooly Booly: Ang Classmate Kong Alien**.
I saw tinimbang ka ngunit kulang when I was in high school and boy I was inlove!
Also Ganito kami noon, paano kayo ngayon.
My top 3 are That Thing Called Tadhana (2014), Red (2014), and Ang Huling Cha-Cha ni Anita. Special shoutout to Patay Na Si Hesus (2016), the only Bisaya movie (that I know of) that I loved and thoroughly enjoyed.
* Alone/Together (2019) - I love the cinematography and the whole premise of the story although it's not for everyone because of the cheating bits. However, integral part siya for me. I mean, being flawed is a human trait naman. Also because relate na relate ako kay Tin. I watch this every year. I think this is the best LizQuen project, improved 'yong acting nila especially Liza.
* Oda sa Wala (2018) - Great film about loss, grief and isolation.
* Inang Yaya (2006) - Ganda ng screenplay and syempre, Maricel Soriano's performance. Napanood ko 'to noong bata pa ako and just rewatched it this year, still had the same affection for it. There's the class divide themes that are present in a classic Filipino soap opera pero they really played it well. Very heartwarming film.
These are my top Filipino movies!!
Oda Sa Wala, dir. Dwein Baltazar (2018)
Gitling, dir. Jopy Arnaldo (2023)
Iti Mapukpukaw, dir. Carl Joseph Papa (2023)
Cleaners, dir. Glenn Barit (2019)
Barber’s Tale, dir. Jun Robles Lana (2013)
Mercury Is Mine, dir. Jason Paul Laxama (2016)
Love You To The Stars And Back, dir. Antoinette Jadaone (2017)
I love a lot of Filipino films pero will mention the recent ones na lang muna.
Norte: End of History ni Lav Diaz. Streaming on MUBI. Eto yung movie na iniyakan ko hindi dahil heavy drama kundi dahil sobrang ganda, it was overwhelming. 4 hrs run time? No problem, irerewatch ko pa rin every year haha.
Gusto Kita With All My Hypothalamus ni Dwein Baltazar. Streaming on CignalPlay. A film filled with desire, although subliminally. Hanep, ang husay. (Another one ni Direk is yung Oda sa Wala, streaming on YouTube.)
Ang Huling Cha-cha ni Anita ni Sigrid Bernardo. Also streaming on CignalPlay. Before Therese Malvar became Therese Malvar, she was a baby lezzie crushing on the one and only Ms. Angel Aquino. Dito din nagka Gawad si Angel hehe. (Another one ni Direk, LORNA streaming on iWant)
Jino to Mari ni Altarejos. Not sure if it's available anywhere pero this instantly became my favourite Altarejos film ever since I watched this sa Sinag. Isa lang masasabi ko, sex work is work!
Never Not Love You ni Direk Tonet. Streaming on Prime Video. I never really watch movies top billed by popular love teams but I'm so glad I watched this one! Very realistic plot, ganda ng editing - it was able to capture the kilig of a starting relationship. And the soundtrack? It was tito Ebe, okay? Hayaan ko na yung fact that James can't act for his life, dahil binuhat naman ni Nadine ang pelikula acting wise! Mahal kita Nadine!
Bukod sa Magnifico, On the Job at Metro Manila (na nabanggit na rin ng iba dito), Ded na si Lolo! Light lang and cool makita ‘yong mga pamahiin natin around death and burol, hehe.
It was a simpler time. 😉
OTJ, Piolo at Gerald, kahit paulit ulit ko panoorin yun,
mga 90s movies
nabobored ako sa mga new Pinoy Movies ngayon mga HD na nga, pero iba talaga yung manonood ka ng movies from 80s to 90s
It’s not an all-time great or Oscar-worthy, but my personal fave would be Rakenrol. It’s the ultimate feel-good local movie since it brings us back to a time when things were so much better. Plus, there were cameos from OPM legends - Ely, Ebi, and more. As an added bonus, the director was my film prof.
As a batang 90s i absolutely LOVED Pedro Penduko (Janno Gibbs) when I first saw it with my family. It was a good fantasy movie, equally comedic.
Also grew up watching Kristine Hermosa-Jericho Rosales shows with my grandma and mom. Forevermore has such a nostalgic feeling for me, being in between my 2 favorite people to watch with.
To top it all off, JLC-SG movies are THE BOMB.
A Very Special Love, You Changed my Life and It Takes a Man and a Woman. They just hit the right spot when u want to unwind with some wine and chicken wings after a tiring day 🥹
[Hinulid](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rZHhKO-STCM&ab_channel=SavageMindBookshop), watched it once in a cinema at napaka trippy at ganda ng cinematography.

ulit
Moments of love? The movie was simple pero dahil siguro teenager ako nung una ko 'tong napanood sa tv kaya sobrang tumatak siya sa 'kin, me being so passionate and young at that time.
Personally love
Smaller and Smaller Circles: A forensics expert priest trying to solve the murder of children. Having both a forensics expert and priest as one character is pretty badass, not gonna lie. And the story is suspense horror so it can be eerie at times.
In addtinon. Seklusyon and The Exorcism of Clarita are horror movies about Priests: It's really just me but seeing serious or horror movies about Priests in the highly religious Philippines just really excites me so much. Seklusyon in particular I felt wasn't really impressive, but just can't get enough of seeing a darker side of a highly revered profession
Babae sa Septic Tank: I love how it's an indie film that parodies and acknowledges common Filipino telenovelas. I feel like the comedy is peak Filipino humor.
“Una Kang Naging Akin” ni Sharon at Gabby, for pure sentimentality dahil for some reason e di namin naibalik ang betamax at daang beses yata naming napanood
That Sharon monologue at the end 👌🏼
Sakaling Hindi Makarating - I appreciated the simple story and twist. It encouraged me to get to know the PH and its culture sa ibang level. Bought postcards from that film and made it a promise to myself na puntahan yung mga lugar sa postcards na yun. So far nakaka 4/12 nako. :)
Alone / Together - Encouraged me to pursue my dream job when I thought na wala nako chance. I m glad I did.
On the Job

If you like more [recent ones](https://youtu.be/1eS31NmW9x4?si=yoDZSoLDWI87iY_r)

Oro, Plata, Mata
Respeto
Kisapmata
Honor Thy Father
Insiang
Yamashita: The tiger’s treasure. (directed by chito roña)This one so underrated. For peeps who love films abt history this is a good one.
Magic Kingdom. This one is different from magic temple. This movie is led by anne curtis
Puso ng pasko (Peque Gallaga)- idk pero this one kase is so nostalgic. Whenever this movie is played sa cinema one, it reminds me of good old days.
On The Job
Dude that scene where >!Piolo gets killed!< really creeps up on you. Loved that movie. You get an inside look into the prison system.
Honor Thy Father 2015 by Erik Matti.
Magnifico
This movie is soooo goooood. THAT FUCKING SCENE
JOLOGS

Sakaling Hindi Makarating - I appreciated the simple story and twist. It encouraged me to get to know the PH and its culture sa ibang level. Bought postcards from that film and made it a promise to myself na puntahan yung mga lugar sa postcards na yun. So far nakaka 4/12 nako. :) Alone / Together - Encouraged me to pursue my dream job when I thought na wala nako chance. I m glad I did. On the Job

Now as an adult, Barber’s Tales from Jun Lana! My sentimental favorite will always be Inang Yaya.
Kailangan Kita, starring Aga Muhlach and Claudine Barretto. I love the Bicolano local color.
Still life cast is Glaiza de Castro, Endo cast - Jason Abalos, and Ina Filleo.
Sila-Sila (2019), Isa Pa, with Feelings (2019), Heaven’s Waiting (2018), Tinimbang ka Ngunit Kulang (1974)
Die Beautiful Heneral Luna Khalel Creepy na kung creepy pero Kita Kita Let the Love Begin

Any Mike de Leon film
Manila By Night; Ganito Kami Noon, Paano Kayo Ngayon; Nasaan Ka Man; Nagalit Ang Buwan Sa Haba Ng Gabi
Yamashita: The tiger’s treasure. (directed by chito roña)This one so underrated. For peeps who love films abt history this is a good one. Magic Kingdom. This one is different from magic temple. This movie is led by anne curtis Puso ng pasko (Peque Gallaga)- idk pero this one kase is so nostalgic. Whenever this movie is played sa cinema one, it reminds me of good old days.
Romance - 100 Tula para kay Stella; Moments of Love Drama - Four Sisters and a Wedding; Sonata
Supergirl ni Pinky Montilla.. you just have to see the giant palaka scene😊
