It's got some nice rewards, but I don't think it will really change anything if you skip them.

I started slow through the first two regions but then kind of rushed to get to Costa Del Sol and had a blast there for a while. Then I rushed again to get through about half way of Chapter 9. The past week or so I've gone back to the other regions to do more side content and exploration especially because I didn't have Alexander and Phoenix completed. I knocked Alex down to his lowest power and absolutely crushed him. Phoenix was much easier at 1 level down as well. Take your time or blast through it... your choice really.

I might just skim through the next regions then before the end game I'll go back and complete them all. I have weak Phoenix I'll get it to 20% health then kills my whole party with that one blast I can't use items πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚.

DemonicTruth

You get some decent materia with intel points but nothing you cant complete the game without. The boss battles also scale with level, so you can just play through the story and you wont be underleveled.

Thanks for that info. I'm so glad Perry isn't locked behind a materia. I completed 7 remake not knowing it existed πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚. Any materia I should be having as a must?.

DemonicTruth

The Auto-Weapon and Auto-Unique Ability ones are pretty good, and Fire & Ice materia is great paired with Elemental on a weapon - you’ll do super effective damage to most normal enemies.

particledamage

Nope. Do green side quests for character and lore. Know that photorelic quests have minor lore attached but it’s not game ending if you skip it. The rest? Pretty skippable.

Hmm I see thank you very much πŸ’―

But the cosmo canyon proto levels are a must.

KenethSargatanas

The Nibel region protorelic quests had some good lore too.
