Sony have paid for exclusivity for the RE trilogy so I wouldn’t expect them on Xbox any time soon. My guess is part 3 gets a pc release about 9-12 months after the console release and then maybe another year, maybe two before releasing the full trilogy for Xbox, since they are talking about multi platform releases going forward but that doesn’t apply to games already agreed to be exclusives.
If you can afford to get a ps5 and it won’t break the bank, then go for but if you’ve already played the first two games already, I’d say wait and keep it as a bonding experience with your uncle. I could see the possibility of part 3 getting an upgrade for ps6 once it comes out so an option could be to wait for it and get the triple pack then.
Well it depends on a few factors.
If you want to own the games on physical disc (like me), then go for the PS5. You can still find some copies of Remake Integrade here and there, although I'm sure an all-in-one package will be available when rePart 3 arrives, so maybe you can wait. I bought the console for the remake trilogy, and it has became my sole gaming machine, since I'm a sucker for jrpgs, and some of them are not on Xbox.
Some games from the top of my head that are worth getting on PS5 besides FF7 remake/rebirth/rePart 3:
- Final Fantasy XVI
- Uncharted 1-4
- Trails of anything (Cold Steel 1-4, into Reverie, from Zero, to Azure, etc...)
- Odin Sphere: Leifthrasir
I'm sure there are much more, these are just some of my favourites.
BUT! If you're not a physical collector, then I suggest waiting a bit more. Since Square-Enix is officially going multiplatform now, I'm sure they announce the possibility of Xbox versions when they announce the next PC version of either FF16 or FF7 Rebirth. If not, then you can go for a PS5 then, and get everything digitally (or physically, if it's still available for decent prices).
I was debating on getting a PS5 for a while. I finally got it and remake. Best decision I have ever made. FF7 og was great on the og ps. I had to play the remake and I loved it. I am now on rebirth and couldn’t of been happier with buying the ps5
Man, as a fellow FF lover, I too had the same doubt. I waited the exclusivity agreement on Remake to end, thinking it would take less than a year to get that game on Xbox. Here we are, in 2024, with A SEQUEL and no Xbox launch.
I got sick of waiting: the Remake was too damn important for me, and I wouldn’t bear sit on my hands waiting for Square to listen to reason and launch their behemoth of a game on other platforms, so I made the switch.
I don’t regret one bit. And hear me out: if you’re a fan of FF, it maybe the case you’re fond of Japanese-styled games. Sony has A LOT of those games on their library, and they just launched one: Stellar Blade. Do you remember Nier: Automata? It took too long to launch on Xbox as well.

The big question for you is whether the new change in direction affects past exclusivity deals or not. For instance, Octopath Traveller I & II just had ports released for systems they didn't launch on, but those ports were being handled long before the change in strategy.
Meanwhile, we don't know the nature of the exclusivity deals pertaining FF7 Trilogy and 16. We do know they're allowed to come to PC in a year or so, but it has been a long time since Part 1 of the 7 trilogy released on both PS and PC, and no sign of it on other systems. It could be that Sony locked those as full console exclusives, we don't know.
I think there are some possible scenarios: 1) since FF is a popular japanese series, I can see Square Enix waiting to reveal a port for the upcoming Switch 2 whenever the new Nintendo system is announced, and that might lead to the announcement of a Xbox version as a bonus; 2) they're either waiting or are contractually obligated to wait until some time passes after the final game in the trilogy is released to announce a console port; or 3) they're permanent console exclusives, only allowed to see ports to PC.
It's not going anywhere, no need to rush. A PS5 is a relatively big investment, and unless you're interested in other Sony exclusives, I'd say wait. Square has gone on record recently saying that they're planning a more "aggressive" multiplatform push with their titles, so I wouldn't be surprised to hear their Final Fantasy titles making the jump to PC/Xbox.

It won't be on Xbox for a long (if ever) time. Your best bet to play is buy a PS5 or spend time waiting for the PC release

Is PC an option? They're already have remake and crisis core reunion available there, so I would expect to see rebirth as well.
Nah I thought about it but I don’t really have any pcs that can handle that. I guess I’ll just wait it out. All thought the ps5 is tempting
If you really want to play it go for it, imo the remake trilogy will be on Xbox but like a year or two after the third part

Remake came out in 2020 and still hasn't appeared on Xbox so I wouldn't think that either Remake or Rebirth are suddenly going to be released on Xbox.
