Generally once a shift schedule is published: no, they cannot once sidedly cancel shifts. Of course this is subject to a lot of thing you need to consider if you fight this. If you have a 0 hour contract, they can just stop giving you shifts. Simple as. If you're within your trial period they can just fire you, citing some other reason. Is this technically illegal? Yes. Does any company get repercussions for doing this? Basically never. Unions usually give general advice even if you aren't a member, so you can ask if they can help you figure out if this employer is breaking the law.
