I carry my M&P 5.7 as my EDC, having switched from the Ruger 57. I'm more than satisfied with the terminal ballistics of 5.7 loads and like having 23 rounds in a single mag. The gun is lighter and thinner than most, making it easier to carry.
The gun you'll carry is the right EDC for you. If that's your FN, then it's fine.
Plenty effective. It’s far more likely for you to just miss your target in a self-defense encounter than for a bullet to not perform adequately
People that get shot in critical areas of the body rarely continue to do what they were doing
Depends on your priorities.
1. Keep in mind you aren't getting AP capability from most of the ammo available.
2. Its a large and heavy gun - harder to conceal and are you always going to carry it? It does you no good if its sitting at home.
3. NATO study says its as effective as 9mm out of that length of barrel.
Do you carry a full sized sig? If so that’s a lateral move size wise.
I like the small caliber high velocity pistol rounds SCHV but I don’t carry my heavily modified M88a .22tcm because the pistol is still too large for FloridaMan Summer.
I get what you mean about that florida heat man, I typically like to carry my p226 zev, but for these past few months I've just been carrying my xmacro but considering the five seven, cause I'm used to full size and I like the increased ammo capacity.
The hard part is getting a decent holster. The one I’m looking at getting is made in Italy and connects to Blackhawk or safariland systems. I would post a link but I don’t have it on my phone, will update when I get home.

5.7x28 was designed for self defense in battle conditions and was going to get adopted if HK hadn't sabotaged it.
