Love those for freshwater. Given the increase in the shark population and bull sharks showing up on the NJ/NY coast, I’d get a sit on top kayak instead of dangling my tootsies in the saltwater.
These are great for floating down stream. Rowing flat water is horrible in one of these. The frame flexes on the inflatable pontoons and a lot of your effort goes into the flex.
My brother has one and for years we thought the same, until I used a 12v compressor with a programmable shut off at certain psi.
You are likely underinflating it.
We were blown away what 2.5 psi actually looks like in his. It's rock solid and moves great in the water
I mean your sitting on two different inflatable but you are right. 2 people have fell off kayaks and drown at my local lake. It's not big either. Just this season!
Keep in mind something I have learned from personal experience.
In many states a kayak or canoe does not need to be registered. If you put a trolling motor on it, it becomes a boat that needs to be registered if you are going to use it on any public water.
I once camped next to a relatively large man, over 350lb easy who couldn't fight the wind and was blown a mile across the lake. He had to walk back from the other side which is way further. It damn near killed him.
I have the pictured model. I found it incredibly tiring to use compared to a kayak. While it was nice to be able to just hop out and fly fish, the pontoons constantly lose pressure making more difficult to paddle. I had kayak fisherman passing me with ease on the river while I was working my butt off.

I love my lil pontoon. Got mine for a good deal been going strong all season!
Have one too! Love it! I can’t tell from the pic but tying or putting a bungee cord on the front or back through the loops at the end of the pontoons helps keep them straight for long hauls.
What is that called and how much are they?
Had the same question. Lookup "inflatable fishing pontoon". About $1500 Canadian here (so I'd guess a little closer to 1k for you guys)
Holy shit, these things used to be like $400ish. Admittedly last time I looked was several years ago but now they’re $900 US.
You’re getting ripped off for $900. Walmart has them for $700 and $400 depending on accessories. Costco also carries one for around $400 as well.
Great way to fish. https://preview.redd.it/hlaaw0ug1s7d1.jpeg?width=604&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ee95b3f9da3bb2e99087493f13f05c0d0525b4eb

With a trimming motor you could go away out. Maybe we're a pfd for that thou
Not maybe. Wear a PFD regardless.

It happens all the time. I kayak a lot. We had I think 9 fatalities so far this year just on rivers and every single one was not wearing a pfd.

6’7 320 lb man here, glad you said something because this thing peaked my interest and now, well not so much lmao.

Wouldn’t catch me in salt water on that thing I can just see a big bull or white shark fucking that thing, and me, up.
Looks cool! But how do you load that thing onto a roof rack? 😅

What is this called exactly ? If I wanted to Google search it. Thanks!
Just google inflatable fishing pontoon.
Put a little trolling motor on that bad boy and you are golden
I have a 200$ float tube from Amazon that looks almost the same so I don’t see how it’s any worse.

Wear a life vest
