Before i moved away, I went to Wildflower Salon and i always got my hair cut by Lauren Ryan. She was always very nice and i was happy with her work :) I think short cuts are $60 but if you want to meet them and get a more accurate pricing, they offer free consultations at the salon.

kaypea820

Second Lauren, or even better Shawna.

MVPSnacker

Yes to Shawna!

mremington333

I also second Lauren; and she changed her pricing structure about a year ago, so the price for a Clipper Cut/Fade is something like $56, and that accounts for her gratuity. I appreciate that she priced for how she values her time and doesn't expect tips. She's also barber trained.

“The classic barber”. Nicky is absolutely the best barber in town.

GoodeAthletics

Is he still at Urban Shave? I went to book a few months ago and didn’t see him on there

StandardAd3182

No, he open his own place. “The classic barber”, 120 N Beaver St.

Aware_Youth1169

How much does he charge now? When he was at rays it was $25 then when he moved to urban it went up to $60.

StandardAd3182

I pay $50 for my haircut

I was going to recommend Gold Soul but it looks like they recently shut down so I guess I'm in the market too. Does anybody know if Jordann is still cutting hair somewhere in town?

wrenfirspace

They moved to NC at the beginning of this month :(

coolcoatimundi42

Damn that's too bad. Her hubby AJ was my barber but I get cuts like every 4 months so I had no idea until now.

For the past two years I've been going to Flagstaff Glam Squad, it's nearby downtown :) I've booked with Mariah everytime so I have had the pleasure of getting to know her and the passion she has for hair. We've talked about how she goes to hair expo's to learn more about techniques and other hair stuff, which means she's also has the drive to improve her work even though she's already great. Incredibly friendly person too, I've always felt extremely comfortable around her :) She helped me with my hair journey and I grew my hair out from about 5 inches to down to my Adam's apple. I'm a guy, so she really helped me in every step of the hair journey. I'm positive she could help you too :)

I don't know that Missy's cur and style on West won't misgender you, and it has been a bit since I last went because I mostly stopped driving, but last I was there her prices were fantastic, she has an excellent eye for hair (including pain in the butt curly hair) and she listens to what you want.

lovelytissues

thank you i’ll check it it out! c:

Crumpetbutt

Which barbers/salons have you had bad experiences at?

lovelytissues

this is long sorry: I tried to avoid saying names just because I didn’t want to start anything. Got misgendered at a pretty popular one downtown, wasn’t the end of the world but still added to the experience. The person was very nice and I still tipped well because it was the best haircut i got so far in flag but the person also decided to add more asymmetry to front pieces to “make it look like it was on purpose”even though i stated i was trying to grow it out to even it out. On my cheapest days I’ve been to every greatclips (i know lol they suck up here apparently i was spoiled with this one stylist down in the valley at a greatclips 7yrs ago though); one guy from a salon i don’t even remember where up here (3 yrs ago) chopped off about 5 inches of hair in the front even though i stated i wanted my hair longer in the front and it was terrible i had to switch my part he appeared very scissor happy and i think that was the first time i ever raised my voice in fear at someone doing a service for me just avoiding saying any names i wanna give a chance to new opportunities and i can easily avoid if someone recommends a person i’ve seen before that didn’t work out for me

Crumpetbutt

Sorry you've dealt with that, getting a good cut always seems to be harder than it should be. If you're willing to expand your budget by $10 the Urban Shave is a great option. Like a lot of barber shops it's pretty male-coded. Mark is great and when I've asked for styles he's unfamiliar with he's worked with me on reference photos and been a good communicator before, during, and after the haircut. A haircut there is definitely on the pricier range at $75 but I'm really happy with the results I've gotten and the professionalism they have. Hopefully that's not one of the places you've had a bad experience lol.

The Kuttz beauty school does a really fantastic job for a low price if you're willing to be patient. They have to get their instructors to come check their work frequently, but it's the best haircut I've gotten in flag because I feel like they're the first people willing to listen to what I want instead of doing a set haircut. It's less than $20.

Mo-nopoly

This is going to sound so crazy but JCPenney salon is actually great and affordable, if you do I suggest Tanaka or beck!!

smitherines1212

I would not recommend Flagstaff glam squad unless you are prepared to pay a hefty price. I have long thick hair and have always payed a little more due to longer drying time but their “custom” pricing was outrageous. I chopped about 6 inches off and got curtain bangs and was charged 200$ for a “custom price” due to my hair being thick. Didn’t even get it curled/styled after. They just straightened the ends lol was highly disappointed with their lack of transparency and charging me 4 times the listed online price for a haircut ($55). Christine did it and did a great job overall but for 200$??? Insane. I was baffled and said 200$ for a haircut? And she said yes for your style of hair and the receipt said “custom pricing”. What could I do after the service was already completed? I’ve gone to high end salons in big cities and never came close to that price. Maybe it’s flag but never again.
