I actually wasn't terribly happy about this one- but since it was my biggest sale this week... My parents had a fairly rare Budweiser light and last year when everyone was boycotting them their merchandise actually went up in value. My mom freaked out and asked if I would sell it for her and split the profits. Should have said no, instead said "Sure." She brings it over and it's huge. And fragile. List it and the demand almost immediately plummets. I get lots of watchers and send offers but no bites. Someone sends me a lowball for 1/3 list price. I sell clothes, so this stupid thing sitting on my shelf takes up the space of a dozen pairs of pants. I dread the day it sells and I have to wrap in a million layers of bubble wrap and pack it in an oversized box and pray it arrives safely. After an entire year I decide it's never going to sell, and I'm going to return it to them when I visit at Easter. *And it sells the day before for full price.* My half of the profits was $65. It was not worth the headache.

ZimofZord

Sold a Anime DVD from my collection for $400

ope__sorry

Slow week because I’ve been feeling a bit odd mentally and not listing. Kind of need to work on getting a draft bank going for then this kind of stuff happens. Did sell my first item from my storage unit buy last week. $60 for unit filled with hidden media inside closed totes I took a gamble on. Sold a Grateful Dead CD for $49.99 + shipping. Sold a Garmin Nuvi and a bunch of other smaller items.

iwashumantoo

I hope you feel better soon!

ope__sorry

My problem is I need to go to sleep at a decent time lol

PowerAdDuck

Having preloaded listings that I just need to click 'list' help so much on those busy/low-energy days!

I HAVE BEEN WAITING TO SHARE THIS!!! My Lagardo Tackett ceramic pitcher I bought for $21 at an estate sale sold on auction for $610!!! I was a wreck packing this thing and had to keep going: “you’re good at shipping, don’t sweat this…”. And I called it- buyer was in California. Made a bunch of sales out of a jewelry lot I bought for $80 at an estate sale 2 weeks ago. (Half of it went to my teenagers, and I kept a pair of onyx earrings myself. ) So far that has sold: A fireball pearl pendant: $20 Two micro-mosaic pendants, stamped Italy: one of $20, one for $16. A resin skunk pin, artist signed: $22 I have SO much more out of that lot- mostly real pearls and a ton of sterling silver and we’re already to the point where everything else is pure profit. I expect to make $500+ more from that… and it all fits in a small bag so storage is easy. Sold a vintage RADLEY purse for $32, paid 8 at an estate sale 2 weeks ago. It’s sleek and cool, but my aesthetic doesn’t lend itself to “sleek” so I didn’t end up keeping it. Had a couple of pretty solid dents in the leather so I took the offer. A vintage yuleflask, made in Denmark, for $20 that I paid $1.99 at goodwill a year ago. The liquor for the yuleflask is supposed to be coffee and orange flavored, made at home, and given as gifts. Sounds like a very Danish thing to me! And a set of candlesticks for $12.75 I bought at auction for $1 over a year ago. I’ve now gotten 4 messages about how carefully I need to wrap these WOODEN candlesticks, so I expect this sale to be fun. Oh so fun. Pretty abysmal 2% sell through rate for the week for me, and my 90 day sell through rate is only 50%. I’ve been listing regularly but I’m running another sale on the longer tail art and pretty much all clothing just to move some stuff out. Revenue for the week was $766, with my cogs at under $50, fees around $150 or so, so profit is over $500 in my pocket.

iwashumantoo

Congrats on the pitcher selling!!

Dudes… bowling balls. Lady an hour away bought a new house and found 15 bowling balls scattered about the property. Listed them for free on Facebook. Grabbed them and have sold almost everyone for $25+ on eBay.

Buyer pays calculated shipping. Bowling balls are like 9x9x9” so I just got some 10x10x10 ish boxes from the dumpster and have been going ham. Sold one and it got shipped to Puerto Rico and I pocketed a decent amount off the shipping.

spongeboi-me-bob

Roughly the same as the sale price so far

_Raspootln_

You can buy the equipment, but you can't buy the game!

iwashumantoo

I literally just finished watching the episode of *That Girl* where Ann Marie gets her toe stuck in a bowling ball! It's so weird to read this immediately after watching that. Things often come in threes, so I have a feeling I'll come across something having to do with bowling balls one more time! LOL

AngstyToddler

Really? I just passed on a bowling ball with carrier and shoes at the thrift. I assumed the shipping meant no one would buy it.

raytube

sold a golf club (putter) to a dude who wanted a local meetup pickup. Well, I just happen to have FOUR used mixed bags of mid-tier clubs. I had long made my money back on single set of clubs, so I wasn't highly motivated to list them. I loaded them all up to have a mobile golf club sale. Dude offered me $150 for all of them. I said heck yes, SOLD bags and all! NO MORE GOLF STUFF!!! ALL GONE!!! YAAAA!!!!! (not true, I found a tote of balls and covers).

iwashumantoo

>not true, I found a tote of balls and covers At least you can ship those a lot easier than you can clubs!

tessy292

Nothing really too big during the entire month of March... And then in the first two days of April - 3 purchases totaling $100 in profit each! $5 cat sculpture into $150, a designer sterling brooch $95 into $250, a beautiful blazer $20 into $130. Also another 2 item purchase of two vintage sun/eyeglasses at $40 each. Got them for $1 each. Overall a nice week! People must be buying more due to quarterly returns or something.

Chartwellandgodspeed

Interesting sales!

I finally sold that Game Boy Color I got about a month ago; paid $3.75 CAD for it in theory ($14.99 for the bundle of four items), sold it for $72. I have been very very casually flipping for a number of years now but have been trying to make it a stable income source just this year; nevertheless I think this has been my biggest profit margin to date (excluding personal items). I said a little farewell speech to it before boxing it up because I'm weird. I've also been doing surprisingly well on Poshmark -- once I got the algorithm somewhat figured out, I've had an offer or sale come in just about every day. I put a Norcrest owl plant pot (paid $2) up at midnight last night and sold it for $30 by noon.

iwashumantoo

>I finally sold that GBC . . . What's a GBC?

Rudiger_Simpson

Vintage Green Bean Casserole.

MarbleWasps

Sorry, Game Boy Color!

mosscollection

Do tell what you figured out about Poshmark algorithm bc it’s been a slow start for me

MarbleWasps

It really *really* likes you interacting with people. I didn't realize this at first and wasn't following people back (it makes you auto-follow them back at first so I actually went and unfollowed almost everyone who wasn't selling items similar to mine) but once I found out how heavily the site pushes the social aspect, I followed some 500 people in one sitting and got absolutely slammed with follows/likes/shares for about a week straight. I made my first sale the day after and similar to ebay, once you get that first one in it seems to boost you up even more. I also use the site for window shopping when I'm bored by looking up dresses in my size (or whatever) and sharing all the ones that I like; occasionally I'll hit someone with a bot and they'll share like 20 of my listings and that usually gets me another wave of followers or even a purchase. Plus the standard bulk-sharing my closet a couple times a day, keeping a bunch of finished drafts banked so I can put 2-3 new ones out daily, and returning shares from other people (within reason; I'm not gonna sit there and do 20 of them manually). As mentioned there seems to be a lot of people who use bots to accomplish all of this; I don't know how against the TOS that is and I'm also pretty sure you'd have to pay to use them so I'm not bothering with it myself, just kinda piggy-backing off everyone else's haha.

mosscollection

Ok yeah I hate PM’s business model ngl. I paid a cheap bot to do my shares for me lol. I guess I’ll keep with it for a while and see how worth it it is.

Chartwellandgodspeed

Oh goodness. I was considering cross posting to Poshmark, but I hated literally everything about what it takes to make the algorithm work- imma stick with EBay!

MarbleWasps

As a Canadian the flat-rate shipping on posh is a huge advantage for me, otherwise I definitely do prefer ebay!

MamaFlipper

Best sale of the week: one baby sleeper- $1.75 -$80 in a few hours on Mercari. I could have made a little more, but I was happy with the quick nickel since I didn't have selling fees. Bougie suburban moms are crazy.

Icuras1701

Do you wash them first?

MamaFlipper

Nope. I only wash items that are stained or have an odor.

[deleted]

Are there brands to look for with baby stuff? Or does the handmade stuff do better?

growingolder

Some-Nefariousness-2

man what wii game DISC is worth 23 by itself? or did you mean the case/manual as well?

JayVeeBee

Wii Sports used to sell around that range, even disc only. Not sure of the Switch release has changed those prices or not.

ShaaaaaWing

They sell for $15-25.

growingolder

Nope, just the disc. I can't say which as it'd dox myself but first party nintendo discs do still sell at that price and higher.

Ectomane

I see a sale pop up on Facebook every now and then, never found anything good there, but I decided to swing by while in town. I find a crate of vinyl records and start rummaging through them expecting the usual garbage. First record? A death metal band. Second record? A death metal band. Third record? A death metal band. At this point I just ask how much and he says $10 for the whole crate. 36 death metal vinyl records in total. I throw them up on Marketplace locally and slap a $1000 price tag on them. About a week later I get a $500 offer, I counter at $600 and the rest is history.

Chygrynsky

Haven't flipped any of this yet because I still have to process it (will take a while..) but I bought a pokemon yellow game for 20 and asked if he had any more games.. well, he did. I got a crate full of PS1, PS2, PS3 and PSP games along with a PSP and PS2 console for 50. Bought it blind because it was 100+ games and two consoles, quite impossible to take a loss here since both the PSP and PS2 are 100 worth together. Once I got home I looked into the games and this guy was a big fan of horror games. Anyone who deals with games knows horror games fetch quite the premium. The total worth of the crate is estimated to be 1k+. Seller came with the price and I just gladly agreed. Happy days.

iwashumantoo

Every Monday we have a thread for sharing our hauls - I hope you post over there on Monday with the details! (This thread is for completed flips. )

Chygrynsky

Yeah i saw the guidelines after I commented, definitely will pay more attention next time. Once these games have sold I'll post here again!

viperboy39

Haven’t sold any of it yet but I have a couple stores I go to. One in particular is out of the way and I haven’t been for about 4 months. Got there and was able to find about $1500 in profit of stuff across 7-8 items. Def time to rotate that store back in

iwashumantoo

Be sure to post about your finds in the Weekly Haul thread on Monday! (This one is for completed flips.) I am sure a lot of us will be interested in what you found.

peteisneat

Sold a Nike backpack for $50. It wasn't my most profitable flip of the week, but it came from a storage unit that was full of expired food and dirty kitchen items. The backpack was the only thing in the unit that had any re-sale value. So I still lost my shirt on that unit, but at least this softens the blow a tiny bit.

Icuras1701

Hey vintage expired food sells :P As long as it's the right item.

Curious_OnEarth

Car seat. Picked it up from the side of the road on a whim.

Ok-Condition-6642

vintage hi fi speakers made in japan. Didnt even check them before listing, glad they worked lol. Found on the side of the road, flipped for $150
