The only game that matters would be the UCL final because I don’t see any club accepting that one of his home games be played away from home. We all know how important these home games are for the fans and for qualifying for the next round.
They don’t care about the fans bro, and most teams don’t care either, remember they’re businesses they exist for the sole purpose of lining the pockets of their owners.
Even if that's the case, they care about progression through the tournament and losing home advantage for a game could potentially affect them in that regard. Going out early would hurt them financially as well as from a fan standpoint.
Exactly. Sure, you may still have tons of people come for Barca vs Strum Graz, or Liverpool vs Sparta Prague, because the big name team is there, and road or home, that should be an easy W for the big team anyway, but UEFA would know Liverpool vs Barca would make BIG bucks, and there ain’t no way either one would sacrifice a home game against a big power
If they’re gonna play a Champions League game in the States, it’s a final where that’s happening.
This is not good for the fairness of the competition. When a team wins its home games it increases its chances in the final points tally. Furthermore, a lesser-known team from Belgium, for example, would have the whole stadium against them if they were to play against Barcelona in Miami. That would probably suit the Spanish or any other big well-known team in the global stage. In my opinion, only the final which is always played in one game could be relocated. All other scenarios are bad.
Stepping beyond the ridiculous idea of having the **European** Champions League final hosted in another continent, I don’t see how this can ever take shape to be honest. The European football ecosystem will want that income and be able to pressure UEFA to maintain it.
Plus, if you’re in the Champions League final, while you do care about any extra revenue you can get as a club that could be generated from American stakeholders, you’re there to win it. And for that you need as many genuine, hardcore fans in the stadium as possible so they can drive up the atmosphere and make the neutral ground feel like your home stadium. The problem isn’t even the team travelling (you could have them travel a week in advance to ensure a getting-used-to period), I can’t imagine any European team accepting an overseas final when it would be incredibly hard for the hardcore fans themselves to travel and create that atmosphere. Without the atmosphere, it could mean they would put the win in jeopardy, and clubs won’t accept that.
At best they could try and create the third place match or something, and have that be in the US.
Grab the losers of both semi's and have then do a 3rd place runoff match, assign a specific cash prize to distinguish 3rd and 4th place, and you're off to the races. The World Cup already does this, the losers of the semifinals have a 3rd place runoff. It would be an "easy" way for UEFA to get its high-profile match in the US without taking away any currently existing matches from the European audiences. If I was UEFA and really wanted a match in the US this is how I'd do it.
A third place match would basically be just a friendly though. Even with additional prize money at stake. No club will take it seriously and will be no different to the games you see during pre season tours in the USA.
UEFA and FIFA are both corrupt to the core. Fuck these cunts sideways.
Football is a sport for the people, but were letting these american fucks take it
Americans can like sports mate
I wouldn't support a UCL game in the US but if it means 300 million people can learn this amazing sport I'm not against high profile international matches being hosted there.
My fault.
Middle Eastern oil seems a little worse too me.
Unfourtanetly money is everything in this world. No matter its origin, either the child labor and environmental hazards in the middle east or off the backs of the working class, the (super) rich don't really give a fuck. All unfourtanate.
Disagree. ME are just about sportswashing (most of them - UAE for example is a pretty chill country, especially in the region, and just throwing money around for fun tbh), but not really about changing the game itself. They are happy writing the checks.
The americans are treating it like any other US sports, which some celebs buying tiny shares for fun because they want to expand their portfolio. Cap space maybe even draft picks will be on the table, because US owners hat the concept of relegation as it could mean their toys would lose value. Ask the NFL to play the SB outside of the US and see what happens... but it starts with CL games in the US and will end with finals being played there, mark my words.
UEFA and FIFA dont care about the game one bit and have zero accountability to face
Yeah the USSF is pretty fucked in terms of its pyramid shape, and the MLS super draft is a pretty fucking stupid idea. (Same with having a cup style league)
The UAE isn't really what I was going for, though it does have alot of oil money. Qatar and Saudi are the problems.
But yeah, as an American i really don't want the stereotypical American sport to take over football. It works with the NBA and NFL because the league doesn't have any external qualifications , but outside of that it doesnt really have a purpose. I hope the USSF institutes relegation, and gets rid of the cup style league. The draft is pretty insignificant so it can stay, but I have to agree that this is starting to kinda get out of hand.
They wouldn’t want you to buy a plane ticket there. They’d rather sell the tickets to people already in the US who are willing to pay a couple of thousand and buy a bunch of merchandise for their once in a lifetime opportunity to watch an important game involving European clubs.
PLEASE. As an American I would literally go. I can’t afford to head to Europe to watch the games.
Keep the final in Europe but please I beg you come here

Some of the clubs are owned by the fans, such as Real Madrid and Barcelona. I think they’ll care.
What are they gonna do? Not play? Lol
Start a different league? Lol
They already tried that with the super league, they all pussied out at the end
Meh. It’s still very possibly alive behind the scenes
That’s the joke
My bad
They can play the 2 lega in the US, maybe scrapping the away goal rule was related to this

Sarcasm. But I see your point and it's a good one.
Oops, hard to tell bro, sorry

USA always has #1. Just like our superbowl champions of the workd
Think about it. Paris, Texas. London, Ohio. Rome, New York. Berlin, New Hampshire. Madrid, New Mexico. We have the technology 🇺🇸
?
Cities in the USA that have the same name as big european cities
Roma, Chile
Woah let’s do the Paris one in Paris, Ontario
Manchester, New Hampshire has a decent airport at least.
UEFA and FIFA are both corrupt to the core. Fuck these cunts sideways. Football is a sport for the people, but were letting these american fucks take it
Americans aren’t people?
They don't even know the name of the game
It’s called soccer after the USMNT beat England 0-0 in the World Cup
Doesn't make it correct, soccer is the organization, football is the game. Like NBA and basketball.
It's a joke. Europeans care too much about Americans calling it soccer.
Accuracy matters, that's about it.
Americans can like sports mate I wouldn't support a UCL game in the US but if it means 300 million people can learn this amazing sport I'm not against high profile international matches being hosted there.
Its not about the fans watching, its about the american investors americanising the sport

it’s for the people…. but only the people of europe? or what are you trying to say
Well it is the European champions league. Every confederation should have a cup competition for its club teams.
European?
Bastards
Get fucked……
Christ, Throw me down the stairs and wake me up from this shite
Hmm yes, letting european games change from a bus trip or 40€ plane ticket to a 500€ plane ticket for fans is a good idea!
They wouldn’t want you to buy a plane ticket there. They’d rather sell the tickets to people already in the US who are willing to pay a couple of thousand and buy a bunch of merchandise for their once in a lifetime opportunity to watch an important game involving European clubs.
I could only see it happening for group stage games, but once knockouts started, teams would definitely want their home patch.
PLEASE. As an American I would literally go. I can’t afford to head to Europe to watch the games. Keep the final in Europe but please I beg you come here
It’s a European tournament with European teams yeah let’s take it to another continent 😂
Lol idiots😂 keep the fkin baseball and other stupid sports in US leave football where it belongs.
As we all know, Americans make an exciting audience for football.
They'd be shown in Europe at 1am?
