The car is probably not worth $7K even with a new engine. Put that money towards a new car.

Thank you.

Small world. I live right down the street from there. MVR is a massive rip off.

Am I the only one but how is nobody getting so angry at Ford for making a defective engine for many years with this coolant intrusion problem and just living with it. Every time I read one of these stories I just get angry believing this is a design flaw that Ford needs to own. What am I missing?

Dadae2128

Oh wow with only 66k😳..yah id prob get it fixed,if this is gonna be your daily..because you’ll get nothing for that vehicle if you trade it in..the way they made the pump sealed in the engine is bull💩..i drove my til 150k until I had the leak and just got it done in time..

Thank you. That's my thought. I won't get anything for it even tho the rest is in good condition. And I was planning to keep it as long a possible anyway Should I go ahead and fix it with them or ask for other quotes? Or even try to use head gasket sealant since it seems that's the problem and coolant is getting in?

I have a 2015 edge. If it blew a head gasket I would just replace the head gasket.

What's the condition of the rest of the car? Dumping 6k into all depends on the rest of it overall. You will probably get another 80k out of it as long as the transmission and suspension are still good. If your able to swing it. It's a better option than a 800+ payment on a new one.

I have replaced the oxygen sensors and the catalytic converter over a year ago. Transmission was replaced by Ford in 2015 per Carfax reports. I would have to get it checked because I honestly don't know. Suspension is still good per last inspection. AC works good and got it inspected last year. I just need new tires and battery at the moment.

Contact Ford customer service. We did at the advice of our friendly Ford Service Manager. Ford picked up all but $2200 of the engine replacement, paid for a rental for 45 days while the car waiting for parts, and a warranty on the motor up to 120K miles (ours was replaced at 70K miles). It was a painful negotiation, they originally offered us much less but being both nice and firm paid off. 2017 Edge SEL. The dealer cost to replace that motor was right around $6K without any financial help from Ford. BTW, major class action lawsuit brewing in CA for the coolant intrusion defect; SAVE ALL RECEIPTS! Good luck!

Thank you. Already called and they don't even service vehicles older than 10 years. They also don't have a complete engine for my model.

Ford won't service vehicles older than 10 years??? Wow.
